Douglas Kem Palmer, 67 Douglas Kem Palmer, 67, of Idaho Falls, Idaho passed away February 21, 2024 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Douglas was born April 3, 1956 in Burley, Idaho to Jim and Larraine Palmer. Kem started in American Falls and at age 5 moved to Eugene Oregon. He attended school in Salem, Oregon, where he graduated from school. After graduating he moved to Stockton, California until moving to Idaho in 1997 to be closer to family. He lived with his foster parents in Idaho Falls, Karl and Connie Shirley. Kem was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had various jobs including Subway Sandwiches, The Pita Pit, and Idaho Falls Livestock. Kem went on many camping and fishing trips with family. He also spent many Thanksgivings and Christmases with them. He loved cats and dogs and loved performing karaoke. Kem is survived by his family, Christine (John) Grimmett, of Moreland; Linda (Gary) Johnson, Idaho Falls; Douglas Miller, of Pocatello; Lori (Mike) Wilson, of Challis; Korey (Shawna) Miller, of Pocatello; foster brother Larry Besch, of Idaho Falls; foster parents, Karl and Connie Shirley, of Idaho Falls; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at the Blackfoot Northwest Stake Center with Bishop Kent Hansen conducting. A viewing will be held an hour prior to the services starting at 10:00 a.m. The family would like to thank the Joshua Smith Foundation and the Developmental Workshop of Idaho Falls where he was currently affiliated and the staff who helped him there including Jamie Cota and Kristy Clute. Carmen Linda Spang, 58, of Idaho Falls, passed away February 21, 2024, at her home. She was under the care of Brio Hospice. Carmen was born September 24, 1965, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Norman Walbridge Spang and Clarice Ruth Knight Spang. She grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Bonneville High School. She also attended College of Southern Idaho. On December 15, 1989, she married Michael Edward Klotz in Idaho Falls. They were later divorced. Carmen made her home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and was a mother and homemaker. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed watching M*A*S*H on TV, softball, horseback riding, 80's rock & roll, and the color purple. She absolutely loved her dogs. She was a member of the Northern Cheyenne Indian Tribe. Carmen is survived by her son, Seth J. (Ashley) Spang-Klotz of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Brittani V. Spang-Klotz of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Normandi L. (Steven) Spang-Klotz of Azle, TX; parents, Norman and Clarice Spang of Idaho Falls, ID; and sister, Debbie (Calvin) Sparks of San Antonio, TX. She was preceded in death by her dogs Bruiser and Missouri. Memorial services will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 24, 2024, the church at 7118 South Ledge Rock Drive, with Bishop Miner officiating.

Sharon Ruth Jeffries Zaroban, 67, of Idaho Falls, passed away February 20, 2024, at her home. Sharon was born June 29, 1956, in Denver, Colorado, to Kenneth R. Jeffries and Fredona Jo Jeffries. She grew up and attended schools in Arvada, Colorado, and graduated from Beth Eden Baptist High School in Wheat Ridge. She also attended MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas, earning her associates degree in early childhood education. On July 10, 1976, she married Lawrence "Larry" G. Zaroban in Lakewood, Colorado. Sharon was an owner and director for a private childcare center in Arvada for 36 years. Sharon and Larry moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, in 2016, where she worked as a teacher for EICAP. She cared for two of her grandchildren. She attended Christ Community Church. She enjoyed music and played the piano. Sharon lived a life of service dedicated to her love of children and her love of her Savior, Jesus Christ. Sharon is survived by her husband, Larry Zaroban of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Heidi (Chris) Duran of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Janell (Rich) Bird of Erie, CO; and four grandchildren, Jace, Alexander, Emma, and Myah. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son, Jeremiah L. Zaroban. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 26, 2024, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.

Carol K Collins, 78, of Idaho Falls, passed away February 13, 2024, at her home from complications with ALS. She was under the care of her loving family and Aspen Home Health & Hospice. Carol was born November 9, 1945, in Gooding, Idaho, to Alva K. Nebeker and Ina Louise Stanger Nebeker. She grew up and attended schools in the area and graduated from Murtaugh High School. On June 25, 1965, she married Robbie Gene Collins in Murtaugh, Idaho. Carol and Robbie made their home in Kimberly, Idaho, where they raised their three children. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Carol enjoyed hiking, water sports, gardening, and running. She is hard to describe in a few sentences. Carol was so much more than this. She was an amazing grandmother and cheered us on in whatever we did. Carol was grace, love, and strength. She was classy, sassy, and full of generosity. Our lives are blessed because she was ours. Our eternities will be glorious because she will be there. Carol is survived by her daughter, Alisa (Daniel) Klassen of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Teresa (Thomas) Aicher of Iona, ID; son, Randy (Stephanie) Collins of Ammon, ID; sister, Larae (Gordon) Curtis of Twin Falls, ID; brother, Gary (Linda) Nebeker of Twin Falls, ID; sister, Irene (Kerry) Dye of Twin Falls, ID; sister, Marva (Kent) Carter of American Falls, ID; 14 grandchildren and 22 and two-halves great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alva and Ina Nebeker; husband, Robbie Collins; sister, Irene Murphy; and a brother, William Nebeker. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 19, 2024, at the Idaho Falls Caribou Ward,1860 Kearney Street, with Bishop Dustin Christopherson officiating. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Twin Falls, Idaho. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to ALS United: Rocky Mountain.

Alice Katherine Hopla, 87, of Idaho Falls, passed away from natural causes on February 20, 2024, at Turtle and Crane Assisted Living in Idaho Falls, ID.Alice was born on July 5, 1936, in Pocatello, Idaho to her loving parents, Albert Wendell Rust and Rachel Irene Olive Rust. She was the first of five daughters. She grew up in Pocatello, Idaho and graduated from Pocatello High School. Alice grew up loving the outdoors and fishing with her dad as often as she could.Alice married Jimmie M. Hopla in Pocatello, Idaho on March 31, 1961. During their marriage, they lived and raised their family in the Idaho Falls area. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George, Utah LDS Temple. Some of Alice’s favorite pastimes were playing bingo, camping, golf, and especially enjoying their cabin in the Palisades Reservoir area with her loving family and numerous friends. After retiring from DOE in 1988 they moved to St. George, Utah and spent their summers in Mackay, Idaho. Alice moved back to Idaho Falls in 2019 to be closer to her children. Alice was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many capacities.Alice is survived by her son Darin (Arlene) Hopla of Idaho Falls, Idaho; her stepchildren: Jimmie Lynn (Tammy) Hopla of Ririe, Idaho, Gail (Dan) Schoenberg of Moscow, Idaho, and Jolene (Steve) Hill of Idaho Falls, Idaho; sisters: Marilyn (Keith) Belnap of Mesquite, Nevada, Mardell (Kent) Henderson of St. George, Utah, and Wendy (Jody) Draney of Wilsonville, Oregon; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie, her parents, and her sister Dorothy Bird.The family would like to thank the staff at Turtle and Crane Assisted Living and Symbii Home Health and Hospice for their loving care of their sweet mom, Alice.A graveside service will be held at noon, March 4, 2024, at the Arco-Hillcrest Cemetery in Arco, Idaho under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. On February 19, 2024, Sidney Mae Freeman, left this world to enter the embrace of her Heavenly Father. She was born into this world just 13 short years earlier on October 24, 2010. She was born in Riverton, Wyoming, to Jamie Bernarr Freeman and Marie Lyn Cook Freeman. She spent the first 8 years of her life there. She was an avid animal lover, especially of horses. She loved to cook with her mom, giggle and play with her sisters, and spend time with her dad. One of her greatest joys was spending time with all her aunts, uncles, grandparents, and cousins. Sidney enjoyed many activities including horseback riding, hiking, drawing, reading, and hanging out with her school and church friends. She loved to make jokes and to have fun wherever she was. Sidney is survived by her parents, Jamie and Marie Freeman of Idaho Falls, ID; her maternal grandparents, Janet and Carl Quinton of Ucon, ID; her paternal grandma, Lanta Freeman of Ririe, ID; and her two younger sisters, Melanie and Aeryn. She was preceded in death by her grandpas, George Freeman and Melvin Becker. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the Idaho Falls Mountain View Ward Building, 1450 Mountain View Lane. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12-12:45 p.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery.
