Connie Diane Jensen, age 71, of rural Leon passed away Friday, September 1, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa following a heart attack. Connie was born August 26, 1952, in Saint Joseph, Missouri, the daughter of Dalton Frank and Alma Camilla Constance (Jamvold) Jones. Connie started grade school in Saint Joseph until moving to Corydon, Iowa in 1960, and then graduated from Wayne Community High School with the Class of 1970. She attended Northwest Missouri State University for a short time before moving back to Corydon where she met the love of her life, Thomas Wilbert Jensen. Tom and Connie were united in marriage on April 22, 1972, at the Corydon United Methodist Church. To this union three children were born, Jennifer Diane, Michael Thomas, and Alan Scott. Connie loved raising her children on the farm and teaching them about the farm life. Raising cows was not only a lifestyle but a passion for her. She loved watching the spring babies, helping with chores, and working them. Connie held a few part time jobs while raising her children, including waiting tables at the Decatur Hilltop before starting at Hy-Vee in 1989, where she was the Human Resource and Accounting Manager for the next 34 1/2 years. She was planning to fully retire within the next couple of months. Connie loved spending her free time with family and friends, but only after her afternoon nap! She could then be found tending to her yard or piddling with her "stuff" in her sheds. Her greatest joys and accomplishments were her family. She was so proud of each one of her grandkids; they did no wrong in Grandma's eyes. She would often be found attending one of their many school activities or just in her kitchen visiting. "Girls Day" with her granddaughters was something she always looked forward to. The boys kept her entertained with their endless racing, jumping dirt bikes, and 4 wheelers. Once the scare wore off the pride shown through. When she wasn't spending time with her family she might be found at a garage sale or any thrift store hunting for her next bargain. On chilly days you wouldn't catch her without her earmuffs. She always loved a good adventure, and was always willing to venture off to new places. One of her most cherished trips was when the whole family was able to take a vacation to the Smokey Mountains in June of last year for her and Tom's 50th Wedding Anniversary. So many memories were made for all. Proceeding her in death were her parents; infant brother, Michael Dean Jones; and her half siblings, Dalton Frank Jones, ll, JoeAnn Lutz, Bill Jones, and infant Nell Jones. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Tom Jensen of Leon, Iowa; children, Jennifer Young (Josh), Mike Jensen (Angie), Alan Jensen (Katie), all of Leon; grandchildren, Jenna, Adam and Megan Young, Laredo Davis (Kari), Brody and Kaleb Jensen, and Lexi and Austin Jensen; great granddaughter, Emmy Kay Davis; half sisters, Donna Scheel of Creston, Iowa and Ruth Jones of Scottsdale, Arizona; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many, many friends. Funeral Services will be held at the Slade - O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 10 a. m. Thursday September 7, 2023, with Pastor Ron Helton officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Lineville, Iowa. A luncheon will follow graveside services in Lineville, Iowa at the Lineville Baptist Church.
