Connie Cross Obituary

Mrs. Connie Walden Cross, 90, went to be with her Lord and Savior, May 7, 2023. A celebration of her life will be held in the chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home, Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 3:00 PM with Pastor Tommy Odum officiating. A visitation for the friends and family will be held one hour prior at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home, Thursday, May 11, 2023 between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM. A private committal service will immediately follow after the celebration of life where Connie will be laid to rest beside her beloved late husband, William "Bill" T. Cross. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully request donations be made in Honor of Mrs. Connie Cross to Centerville United Methodist Church, 600 N Houston Lake Blvd, Centerville, GA 31028. Connie was born in Gibson, GA on May 23, 1932 to the late Mary Lou Usry and Amory E. Walden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her three siblings. Connie was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and dear friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Connie dedicated her life to serving her family and the Lord. She was a member at Christ United Methodist Church and attended the "Young at Heart Group" where she enjoyed singing joyful hymns and reading scriptures. Connie cherished her beloved family and always enjoyed cooking wonderful meals for everyone; including homemade jams, jellies, and peach ice cream. In addition to homemade meals, Connie was a talented seamstress, that made her children's clothes all throughout their lives. Connie was a hard worker who took great pride in serving her community as well as her family and her savior. Before retiring from Houston County Board of Education, Connie was a substitute teacher for several years before becoming a library paraprofessional. Connie is survived by her cherished children; Amber (Tom) Gamble and Bill (Linda) Cross; nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a host of extended friends and family.
