Colleen Sander, the daughter of Harold and Irean North, was born September 30, 1936 in Spencer, Iowa. She graduated from Arnolds Park High School. On September 4, 1954, Colleen married Don Sander in Arnolds Park, Iowa. In 1968, their family moved from Spencer to Arnolds Park. Colleen worked in the home and in her spare time enjoyed baking, sewing and gardening. Colleen passed away September 9, 2023 at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong, Iowa at eighty-six years of age. She is survived by her son, Mark (Mollie) Sander; daughter, LeAnn Budrow; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; brother, Tim North; sister-in-law, Kathy North. Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Irean; son, Dave; three brothers Lowell, Jack and Duane.

Lyle J. Preston, son of Emery and Phyllis (Vollmar) Preston, was born on January 17, 1959 in Estherville, Iowa. He passed away on December 4, 2023 at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong, Iowa at the age of 64 years. Lyle attended Ringsted schools and was a Sentral of Fenton graduate. Lyle was united in marriage to the love of his life, Kim Albertson in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on September 29, 1979. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Graettinger, Iowa and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Lyle was the proud owner and operator of Preston Paint and Auto Body in Ringsted for over 20 years. He had a passion for restoring old cars, trucks, and tractors, and really enjoyed 'making junk look new again. ' He especially enjoyed the past couple of years working with his brother at the shop. Visiting and getting to know his customers brought him daily joy. He enjoyed reading, playing cards and going on road trips with his wife Kim. Spending time with his friends and family was above all the most important thing for Lyle. Watching all of his girls grow made him proud every day. Lyle is survived by his wife Kim, his daughters Cristen (Chad) Wheatley and Cindy (Bryan) Last; and his grandchildren Cameron and Casidy Sheda. His brothers Glen (Deb) Preston of Bancroft and Neal Preston of Fenton; Kim's siblings Kevin (Jennifer Lott) Albertson, Kelly (Ken) McKenney, Keith (Deb Gossman) Albertson, and Kyle (Lana) Albertson; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Betty L Moeller, daughter of Earl W. and Henrietta C. (Schmidtke) Wegner, was born on March 2, 1945 in rural Armstrong, Emmet County, Iowa. She passed away on Friday, July 15, 2022 at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong, Iowa at the age of 77 years. Betty attended and graduated from East Chain High School in East Chain, Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Wayne Moeller on February 8, 1964 at the East Chain Lutheran Church. She did day care for 28 years, caring for many children in her home. Betty was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong, where she was an active member of the church circle for many years. In her younger years, she and Wayne enjoyed travelling around the area going to dance halls. Family get-togethers and a good joke always brought her great joy. She was a great cook and baker. She enjoyed attending the events of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Betty spent a lot of time sewing and quilting, creating many projects. Betty is survived by her husband Wayne of Armstrong; her children Kristy (Brian) Craig of Naperville, Illinois, Connie (Gary) Tonderum of Milford, Iowa, and Lisa (Daryl) Luke of Graettinger; six grandchildren Brooke (Bryon) Nelsen, Megan (James) Fitzgerald, Olivia (Kyle) Wester, Kevin (Amanda) Luke, Tyler (Abbey) Tonderum, and Shelby Luke; and seven great-grandchildren Drake Nelsen, Lincoln Nelsen, Reid Fitzgerald, Easton Fitzgerald, Jackson Wester, Knox Tonderum, and Graham Fitzgerald. She is also survived by her sister LaVonne (Kenny) Kruse of Jackson. Betty is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Jerry (Karen) Wegner.Show more

Harvey L. Larsen, was born on February 19, 1925 to Henry and Marie (Bonnicksen) Larsen in Ringsted, Iowa. He passed away on April 22, 2022 at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong, Iowa. Harvey grew up in the Ringsted area and graduated from Swea City High School in 1942. He was united in marriage to Noradel E. Dotson on May 19, 1945 in Waukegan, Illinois. They celebrated 71 and a half years together as husband and wife. He was drafted into the United States Navy on January 10, 1945 and was honorably discharged on May 11, 1946. Upon his return home to the Swea City area, he and Noradel raised their five children. He farmed near Swea City for 40 years, retiring from farming in 1987. The couple moved into town in 1979, and enjoyed many winters in Tucson, Arizona. Harvey was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Swea City. He enjoyed golfing, watching the Minnesota Twins and Iowa Hawkeyes, and weekly Saturday night meals at the Country Inn with his friends. Harvey is survived by his daughter Marcia (Duane) Holst of Lake City, Minnesota; daughter-in-law Laura Larsen of West Des Moines, Iowa; daughter-in-law Sandra Larsen of Swea City, Iowa; son Chuck (Renee) Larsen of Seward, Nebraska; son Ron Larsen of Manley, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Harvey is preceded in death by his wife Noradel Larsen; his parents Henry and Marie Larsen; his sons Leroy and Steve Larsen; his grandson Daniel Larsen; great-grandson Noah Larsen; his brother Emly (Crystal) Larsen; his sisters Erma (Russel) Roba and Bernice (John) Koster.Show more

Maxine G. Brones was born October 14, 1922, to Herbert and Margie (O'Keefe) Patterson at Maple Hill, Iowa. She passed away on April 10, 2022, at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong, Iowa at the age of 99 years. When she was six years old, her parents moved to Eagle Township, Swea City, where she received her schooling at a country school. She graduated from Swea City High School in 1940. After graduation, she attended beauty school at Fort Dodge. After working two years, she joined the Navy WAVES, Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service. After serving 2 1/2 years, at the Naval Air Station in Norfolk, VA she was transferred to the Naval Air Station in Glenview, Illinois. She was honorably discharged in February 1946. After owning her own beauty shop in Rake, Iowa, Maxine was united in marriage to Warren Brones on April 21, 1949. After their marriage they made their home in Eagle Township and raised their family. They lived there 41 years until Warren passed away on October 24, 1990. Maxine remained on the farm until October 2004, when she moved to Estherville. Maxine was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women. Maxine taught Sunday School for many years and enjoyed working with all ages, as well as Bible School and youth groups. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Navy Veterans Association. Maxine enjoyed gardening and her flowers, refinishing furniture, painting, and crafts. She loved her family and always looked forward to their visits. Maxine is survived by her son, Robert (Robyn) Brones of Swea City; her daughter, Marna (Steve) Hurley of Des Moines; and her grandchildren, Adrian, Tyler, Nicole, and Lucas; great-grandchildren, Parker, Carson, and Tanner. She is preceded in death by her husband, Warren, her parents, Herbert and Margie (O'Keefe) Patterson, and her siblings, Herbert Patterson Jr. , Lavon Moore, Margie Richardson, and Marion McDowell, brothers-in-law, Andrew (Elsie) Brones, Hubert Brones, Kenneth (Isabelle) Brones and William (Lillian) Buhmann.Show more

Steven Rezac, son of John and Delores (Berggren) Rezac Jr, was born on January 4, 1970 in Estherville, Iowa. He passed away at his home in Armstrong on March 9, 2022 at the age of 52. Steve graduated from Armstrong High School in 1988. Steve was employed at Art's Way for many years. He was most recently employed as a hired man on the farm for Dick Sturm. He was united in marriage to Connie (Van Lenning) Holl on January 1, 2022 at the United Methodist Church in Armstrong. Steve was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Armstrong. He enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Bowling Association. Steve enjoyed spending time with his cats and watching the Braves. Working on the farm was a favorite pastime of his. He had a love of cars, owning many that had sentimental value to him. Steve is survived by his wife Connie Rezac of Armstrong; his children Tyler (Shalea) Rezac of Spirit Lake, and Brittney (Chris) White of Graettinger; and his mother and father in law Roy and Rose Gage. He is also survived by his siblings James (Denyse) Engelbarts of San Pablo, California, Karma Engelbarts of Des Moines, Iowa, and Karen Evans of Des Moines; His sisters-in-law Angie (Chris) Adams of Eagle Grove, Iowa, Leslie Van Lenning of Estherville, and Tammy (Shane) Bisgaard of Graettinger; and his brother-in-law Dennis (Brandi) Van Lenning of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Steve is also survived by his nieces and nephews Julie Engelbarts, Tanja Evans, Ryan (Maggie) Evans, Devin Adams, Cassie Adams, Thomas Adams, Briana (Alex) Dale, Kayla (Richard) Van Lenning, Hayden Van Lenning, Broden Van Lenning, Evan Bisgaard, Elizabeth Bisgaard, and Eryka Bisgaard; and his great-nieces and nephews Connor and Eva Evans and Abby and Wyatt Evans.
