Irene Reding departed this life on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at Citizen's Care Center in Havre de Grace, Maryland, where she had resided since 2019, always with unreserved praise for the care she received. She was 96. While at Citizen's Care she found great contentment sharing her faith in Jesus Christ with other residents. She devoted hours daily to prayer for her church, its congregation and its pastors, for her acquaintances, her son, grandson and great granddaughters, and for Harford Christian School. Born in Dundalk, Maryland in 1927, she and her husband Charles moved to Darlington, Maryland in 1972. There they associated with Harford Christian School, a ministry of Reformation Bible Church in Dublin, where she was a member. For the next four decades she fulfilled multiple roles in the school: assistant elementary librarian, kindergarten care, high school librarian, study hall supervisor, book store manager, lunch sale manager, and more. She became a pillar within the institution, and is remembered fondly by generations of students, teachers and staff members. Following retirement, she remained passionate in enthusiasm for her church and school. Irene was predeceased by her husband Charles in 1992 and by her son David in 2021. She is survived by a grandson, Christian, and his wife, by a step-son, Dick and his wife Barbara. She is also survived by Morgan, Abigail, Lucy and Elizabeth, great-granddaughters whom she loved dearly and for whom she prayed continually, desiring that they might always know the peace, contentment and fulfillment that she found in Jesus Christ. A memorial service will be held at Reformation Bible Church in Dublin on Monday, December 11, with visitation at 11:30 AM and a worship service at 12:30. Interment will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Baltimore. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Harford Christian School. Sharon (DeBonis) Hodges of Aberdeen, MD passed away on December 4, 2023, at the Senator Bob Hooper House in Forest Hill, MD at the age of 75. She was the wife of the late Michael J. Hodges. Born in Havre de Grace, MD to the late Nicholas and Grace (Batten) DeBonis. She was the devoted mother of Amy Hodges (Brett Dawson) and Justin Hodges, and loved her grand dog, Bubba. Her role as a mother was what she cherished the most. She is survived by her brother Rodney DeBonis (Monica); her cousin, Carol Hawkins Huna (Mark); and best friend, LeeAnn Klinger (Dan). She played an instrumental role in the lives of Caroline and Owen Klinger to whom she was dearly known as Sha Sha. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Upon her graduation from Havre de Grace High School, she went on to further her higher education at Towson University, graduating with her master's degree in education. She taught third grade for more than seventeen years at Good Shepherd Catholic School in Perryville, MD and served as principal for eight years before retiring. Sharon loved teaching, education, and the children whose lives that she was able to be a part of. She was the biggest cheerleader, the greatest supporter, and a solid foundation of love for all who touched her heart. Sharon loved crafting, reading, dancing, country music, and spending time at the beach. She has fond memories of trips to Ocean City, MD; Englewood Beach, FL; and Stone Harbor, NJ. A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 11 A. M. at the Zellman Funeral Home, P. A, 123 S. Washington St. , Havre de Grace, MD 21078, with a funeral service to follow at 12 P. M. Douglas "Dougie" Eugene Ringgold Jr. Son of Douglas Ringgold Sr and the late Barbara Malloy was born on June 26, 1972, at Harford Memorial Hospital, Havre de Grace Maryland. He departed this life suddenly on the morning of November 17, 2023. Dougie graduated from Aberdeen High School. He worked numerous jobs, but he loved to cook and grill, believing he was the next "Gordan Ramsey". In Dougie's earliest years of life, he enjoyed working with Pop Jute, whether it be feeding the animals or riding with pop to do numerous errands, and waiting to get back to mom moms for whatever she may have cooked that day. Family meant a lot to Dougie, and he had plenty of laughs and memories with his cousins throughout his life. Dougie hardly called us by our names, as he would say "Hey Sis", "Hey Nephew", "Hey Cousin" or "Hey Aunt" but never by our names. Dougie was a lovely and kind man with a good heart and was always willing to help and assist in any way he could. Despite his health failing he would still try to help or assist in anyway necessary. His smile and contagious laugh were overwhelming at times, when he really found something funny to laugh at. Loved by all, Dougie leaves to cherish his memories: his father: Douglas Ringgold Sr (Barbara); two daughters: Quinshana Fisher and Avianna Ringgold; three sister: Donna Hardy (Wayman), Stacey Baines (Charon) and Tiffany Ringgold; four granddaughters: Alicia Fisher, Aliyia Randall, Amirah Randall and Maliyia Harris; two nieces: Lakeia Hayden and LaToya Amos; three nephews: Markese Hayden, Charon Baines Jr and Elijah Amos; three great nieces: McKenzie Hayden, Zoey Hayden and Zaylee Hayden; one great nephew: Zion Hayden and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends. William Francis Johnson Sr. , was born on June 30, 1937 to the late William and Hilda Johnson in Brighton, New Jersey. He departed this life on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at Christiana Care Union Hospital, Elkton, Maryland. Known as "Slim" by many, Billy lived in Cecil County most of his life. He received his education at the George Washington Carver School. Following his academic achievements, Billy entered the work force. Holding various positions for Perry Point Veterans Hospital, Elkton Gas Company, General Cable Company, and the Town of Elkton. One of his greatest accomplishments was becoming the Founder and CEO of Bill's Custodial Services, one of the first African American cleaning companies in Cecil County. For 35 years, he provided service for various local banks, courthouses, schools, pharmacies, and other businesses. Billy enjoyed watching boxing, UFC fights, softball, baseball, and he loved his Westerns. He liked nice cars and sweet treats, especially Butterfingers and cookies. He was a stylish and classy man who loved to look nice, smell good and wear nice hats. Most of all, Billy loved spending time with his family. In 1957, Billy met the love of his life, Betty Sewell with whom he loved and created a beautiful family and life. Affectionately known as "Pop" to his children and grandchildren, he did not hesitate to share his wisdom and advice about life. Billy leaves to cherish his memory; the love of his life, Margaret "Betty" Sewell; three sons, Colburn Sewell Sr. (Regina), William Johnson Jr. (Dawn), and Daris Johnson (Brenda); one daughter, Connie Sewell; two brothers Nathaniel Johnson (Alona), and Calvin Johnson; 17 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and 19 great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Hilda Johnson; children Leroy Sewell Jr. , Patricia Garnett and Mary Edna Green; granddaughter LaQueena Johnson, siblings Edith Johnson, David Johnson, Sylvia Johnson, Mary Ann Johnson, Robert Johnson, and Marie Johnson.Show more

Barbara Walter Holloway, of Darlington, MD, passed away on October 28, 2023, at the age of 89. Mrs. Holloway was born in Baltimore, Maryland, to Hugh Smith Walter and Elna Forwood Walter. She was the devoted wife of 68 years to Henry Scarborough Holloway, loving mother of Henry Smith Holloway (Brenda), Teresa Jane Holloway Wakefield (Peter), Dr. Judith Anne Holloway Grifasi (J. Paul Streett), and Dr. Andrew Walter Holloway (Dr. Kimberly Holloway), adored grandmother of Cassie Nilsson (Sam), Mark Holloway, Nathan Holloway (Grace), Margaret "Maggie" Holloway, Peter Wakefield, Emily Wakefield, Rachel Wakefield, Alex Grifasi, Isabella Wierzbowski (Shawn), Nicholas Grifasi, Matthew Grifasi, Ava Holloway, and Sophia Holloway. She was the sister of the late Ruth Lawrence and Dolores Healy. Mrs. Holloway was the first female student government president at Bel Air High School. She was voted by her graduating class two Senior Superlatives: Most Reliable and Best All-Around. After graduating from Bel Air, she worked as a book-keeper for Forest Hill State Bank, and started Lolli-Pop giveaways at the bank. She served as secretary/ treasurer for Harford County Farm Bureau for many years. Mrs. Holloway volunteered as the leader of the Darlington Dynamoes 4-H Club for countless years and was a 4-H All Star and member of the 4-H Glee Club. She attended Quaker meeting with her family, but in her later years served on the church session, served as a deacon, served on the worship committee, and sang in the choir at Harmony Presbyterian Church. Along with her many volunteer hours with 4-H and her churches, she also volunteered with many community events, including The Darlington Apple Festival and The Darlington Blueberry Festival. Mrs. Holloway was a sports mom for her four children. She and her husband were partners in a farm with Richard and Harriett Holloway, where they hosted many Farm Visitation Days for the local community and schools and served as host parents/family to six International Farm Youth Exchange Students. Mrs. Holloway and her husband were named Harford Living Treasures in 2022 by the Harford County Cultural Arts Board and Harford County Council. Her hobbies included cooking and baking, sewing, traveling, gardening and canning. She enjoyed singing in the choir. Mrs. Holloway loved her family and was well known for her caring smile. Elisabeth Ann Andreassi, age 60, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at UM Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre De Grace, Maryland, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on January 9, 1963, she was the daughter of Luigi and Adrianna Andreassi. Elisabeth was raised in Walpole, Massachusetts, where she attended Blessed Sacrament School before graduating from Tri-County Regional Technical High School. Elisabeth continued her education at Duxbury College, earning her bachelor's degree with a focus on business administration. After college, Elisabeth made her home in Havre De Grace, Maryland, furthered her education, and found work in various offices in the area, usually in the accounting department. Throughout her life, Elisabeth had a natural talent for the arts. She enjoyed crocheting, scrapbooking, and making bead jewelry, and was always generous in giving those she loved her crafts. Elisabeth was also an accomplished artist, working with paper and pencils to create beautiful drawings. Most of the time she found inspiration from her walks through the beauty of the natural world that surrounded her. Most of all, Elisabeth enjoyed being social and spending time with the people around her. She was outgoing and always made others feel comfortable in her presence. Devoted daughter of Adriana (Marchetti) Malone and her husband Paul of Walpole and the late Luigi Dominico Andreassi. Beloved partner of George Bowser of Havre De Grace. Beloved sister of Linda Maria Andreassi and her husband, William Ridgeway, of Florida, Luigi Nicola Andreassi of Walpole, and the late Lena Theresa Andreassi. Loving mother of Paul Andreassi of Norwood, Tracy Scott, Thomas Scott, Terrance Scott, and Elena (Scott) Sood, all of Maryland.
