It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Colby Evan Watson, 31, on October 4, 2023, at his home in Mannington WV. Colby will be greatly missed by his parents, Randy Watson (and Stacey Wise), of Mannington WV and Dawn and David Robey of Clarksburg, WV along with his siblings: Alvy Lee Ashley of Enterprise, Alabama, and stepsiblings Erick (and Gabby) Robey, Dani Jo (and Shay) Noss, and Logan (and Ashley) Robey, all of Clarksburg, WV. Colby was "uncle" to Katie Belle Ashley, Easton, Camryn and Kire Joe Robey, Nora, Sutton, Hazel, and Gunner Noss, and Remington and Colt Robey. In addition, Colby was blessed to have many grandparents still present in his life, which include paternal grandparents Bill and Julia Belch Watson, maternal grandparents Gary and Sheila Narog Sloan, all of Mannington, WV, Dannie and Barbara Robey, step-grandparents, of Clarksburg, WV, as well as his great-grandmother, Betty Lou Hepler of Fairmont, WV. Colby's loss is and will be deeply felt by his great number of extended family members, many to whom he was like a son or a brother. These include his aunts and uncles: Roger (and Gina) Watson, Jenny Scoles and David (and Rose) Watson of Mannington, WV, Scott and Elizabeth Watson of Boiling Springs, SC, Gary (and Lisa) Sloan of Mannington, WV, Kelli (and Tracy) Hartsell of Kingwood, WV, and Stephanie (and Bruce) Markley of Horner, WV and his cousins: Matthew (and Charlie) Watson, Casie (and Daniel) Strosnider, Spencer Scoles, Andrew and Tyler Hall, Kayla (and Joseph) Gregory, Jereme, Rachel, and Jennifer Watson, Courtney (and Johnny) Carpenter, Andrew (and Erin) Sloan, Josh (and Alex) Liggett, Kirsten (and Travis) Price, Kalen (and Chris) Murray, Jacob Liggett, Brodi (and Larel Teter) McCoy, Eric McCoy, Noah and Zach Markley. His reunion is taking place now with those who have gone before him, which include his maternal great-great grandmother Stella Brooks and great-grandfather Henry Narog, and his paternal great-great grandmother Pearl G. Belch Debolt and great uncle Joe Belch. Colby was a 2010 Graduate of North Marion High School and was virtually a lifelong resident of Mannington. He had passion for building and design since he was a small child, and was employed with Four Seasons Developers, doing the work that he has always loved most, with a team of co-workers that he thoroughly enjoyed being a part of. He had a special place in his heart for children and animals, which always seemed to quickly warm up to him. He loved anything outdoors, from fishing, to snowboarding, to just sitting around the fire and enjoyed many family and friend trips through the years, from Bowl Games to Bermuda. He was a fan of his mother's cooking, the WVU Mountaineers, and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Colby was constantly reading, learning, and keeping up on current events, and the long conversations and debates this inevitably resulted in will never be replaced or forgotten. Visitation will be held at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington, WV on Sunday, October 8, 2023 from 12-7:30pm where family and friends will come together in prayer prior to dismissal. There will be no funeral services as cremation was chosen as the final method of disposition. Inurnment will follow at a later date of the Mannington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers or donations, please just make time every day to let your children know you are thinking of them and how much they are loved, on the good days and especially on the "not so good" days. It takes so little effort but will always mean so much!

Herbert McInturff "Mac" Spengler, age 94 of Mannington, WV, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at John Manchin Senior Assisted Living Facility in Farmington, WV. He was born on February 17, 1929, in Glovers Gap, WV, the oldest child of Herbert & Dorothy Spengler. Mac was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Jeanne, his parents, and an infant sister Rebecca. Mac is survived by his two sons, Mitchell (Karen) Spengler and Kelly Spengler, 5 grandchildren, Susan, Laura, Mac, Douglas and Rebecca, and his 2 "great-granddogs. " Mac was a Class of 1947 graduate of Mannington High School who served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Mac retired as a District Superintendent for CNG Transmission. He enjoyed working on "tube TVs" and clocks in years past and had a passion for HO scale railroads. He built their home in the early 1960's and continued his woodworking craft over the years. The family would like to express its gratitude for the care and support by staff of Mac while at the John Manchin Assisted Living Facility. Jack R. Cunningham, age 77, of Mannington, WV passed away at his home on Thursday, October 26. Jack was born in Fairmont, WV on April 17, 1946, a son of Betty Harper Cunningham of Smithfield, WV and the late Byron Lewis Cunningham. He is survived by his wife, Samra J. Doshen Cunningham, his son John (Susie) Cunningham of Walker, WV, his daughter Kimberly (Brian) Bolyard of Thornton, WV, and his sister Sue (Larry) Barker of Metz, WV. In addition, he is survived by three grandsons, Johnathan (Jordan) Cunningham of Phoenixville, PA, Colton (Allison) Bolyard of Tunnelton, WV and Dalton (Allison) Bolyard of Pearl Harbor, HI, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his sister Phyllis Jean Johnson of Clarksburg, WV, his brother Richard (Linda) Cunningham of Elizabethtown, KY, and his brother Danny Cunningham of Mannington, WV. Jack graduated from Mannington High School and served as a helicopter mechanic in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict where he earned several commendation medals including the Army Commendation Medal for Heroism in Action while in Vietnam on July 29th where being under heavy enemy fire, Jack readied two helicopters for flight and then helped the pilots strap in and start their engines. After returning from Vietnam, he attended Fairmont Business College, and worked at the C & P Telephone where he retired after 35 years. He was an original Woodcutter helping build Husky Stadium at North Marion High School. Jack was a member of the Elks and Moose lodges and the former Vietnam Veterans Charter 1055. Jack cherished his wife, children, and grandchildren whom he was incredibly proud of. He enjoyed hunting, camping, and spending time with his family. In addition to his family, he loved to spend time with his longtime friends Tom Neer and Bobby Brown of Mannington, WV, Terry Patterson of Fairmont, WV, Louis Hernandez of San Antonio, TX, the late Ernie Michael and Gary Craig of Mannington, WV, and friends and neighbors Denise Kovar and Vicky Parker of Farmington, WV. Everyone who knew Jack loved him for his quick wit, sly sense of humor, and infectious smile. His memory will be cherished for years to come. Joyce Elaine Roupe, 70, of Four States, died Monday, October 16, 2023 at her residence with her family by her side. She was born January 20, 1953 in Fairmont, a daughter of the late Abraham Leonard "Ted" and Alta Dale Lawler Watson. Joyce was formerly a licensed beautician but spent most of her life caring for her sister's children and grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling with her husband John, and making sure to bridge any gaps between family in hopes of keeping the large family bond and traditions alive. Joyce is survived by her husband of 43 years, John Howard Roupe of Four States, her daughter Lynda "Little Lynda" Tulanowski of Carolina, two grandchildren Tiara Brooklyn Tulanowski of Carolina, Arthur Thomas "Ty" Tulanowski and wife Brooke of Idamay, three great-grandchildren Tommy, Tyus, and Evaya Tulanowski of Idamay. Also surviving are three sisters, Charlotte Watson Rohrbaugh of Four States, Nancy Sokolosky and her husband Joseph of Rachel, and Shelia Watson Amant and her husband John of Missouri. Joyce and John had one Godchild, Paul "Dale" Prince Jr of Four States, three in-laws Andrea Roupe Taylor, Alisa Roupe Tennant and husband Daniel, all of Mannington, as well as several nieces and nephews. Joyce was a devoted Christian and was a wonderful person who was always there to help anyone who needed it. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the many acts of kindness that has been shown with a special thank you to Jacob and the Hospice Crew, your care and support has been invaluable. John Alan Bland, 59 of Farmington, passed peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his family after a prolonged period of illness on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport. He was born May 28, 1964, at Fairmont, a son of the late Harold and Nancy Saporito Bland. John was a machinist by trade, proud to have worked a career for a span of 39 years producing parts for all types of industry from aerospace to coal mining, and oil and gas. Perhaps most importantly, John's passion for his work was passed down to the next generation with both of his sons proudly following in their father's footsteps and becoming machinists themselves. John was a technical man that always took the time to teach anyone willing to learn. John loved his family and spent his life teaching his children how to homestead and live off the land, handing down the knowledge from generations of bakers, farmers, and gardeners. He was a forager that hunted for morels and ginseng, a trapper that hunted for red fox, grey fox, raccoon and mink. He rifle hunted for deer, pheasant, and turkey. John loved baseball and was heavily involved with little league, coaching children for many years from T-ball to A-ball, following his son Austin through his baseball journey. He was a dedicated coach that took pride in teaching kids the fundamentals of baseball. John was an avid fisherman who loved taking trips to Elk Rapids, MI and Lake Erie, PA catching Steelhead and trout and countless day trips with his son Zane, spending golden time catching trophies and making cherished memories. John spent 37 years as a devoted husband to his loving wife Rhonda, creating the life that he lived and loved, raising three wonderful children whom he was incredibly proud of, cherishing the grandchildren he had and loving every moment he got to spend with them. He loved working with his hands and creating things, for years he did woodcarving as a hobby and sold his wares at various markets. He made his own tools and machines and enjoyed sharing his enthusiasm for his creations with others with things such as a handmade meat and cheese smoker and the famous spit turn chicken roaster. He also enjoyed golfing with his friends and never hesitated to create memories and happiness for his family. Survived by his loving wife Rhonda Bland of Farmington, daughter Nicole Bland of Beaufort, SC, son Austin Bland and daughter-in-law Lindsey of Idamay, son Zane Bland of Farmington, grandson Finley Bland, granddaughters Everleigh and Kingsly Bland, and soon to arrive grandson Seeley Bland who he couldn't wait to meet, a sister and brother-in-law Linda and Floyd Bissett of Mannington, and several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother James Bland and sister-in-law Janice Rush Bland and brother-in-law Cory Toothman, whom he helped raise and instilled the love for machining, also having a career as a machinist. John requested cremation with a celebration of life dinner to be held at the Farmington Community Building Saturday, October 21, 2023 starting at noon, all friends and family are welcome to attend.Show more

Kathleen May Price Daft, age 84 of Mannington, WV passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at her residence. She was born February 21, 1939 in Farmington, WV a daughter of the late Everett Price and Mary Jane Creemans Price. She is survived by three children, Ralph and Kathy Gump of Farmington, Cecil Daft of Mannington, and Shelly McCale of Monongah, 11 grandchildren, Rachel Smith, Ryan (Kristi) Manley, Kayla (Tyler) Friend, Luke Daft, Sara Katonka, Megan Moore, Alison Moore, Zoey Sawyers, Cody McCale, Jonathan Daft and Brittni (John) Rodaitis, and 11 great-grandchildren, Darin (Lilly) Smith, Derek (Sarah) Smith, Raiden Katonka, Ryker Moore, Ryleigh Moore, Ryatt Deavers, Walker Manley, Cohen Manley, Briggs Manley, Sophia Friend and Sage Daft. Kathleen is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and her special niece Cheryl Stanley and family. In addition to her parents, Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband Herman Elwood "Pat" Daft who died November 1, 1998, her daughter Mary Daft, and two brothers, George and Raymond Price. Kathleen was a homemaker as well as worked at Westinghouse in Fairmont for 9 years. She enjoyed family dinners and going shopping and loved giving gifts! Michelle Dawn Lucas, age 51, passed away in the late hours of Saturday, October 7, 2023, with her family by her side. Michelle was born on September 23, 1972, in Fairmont, WV to her mother Patricia Matheny and late father Luther Lucas. Michelle spent most of her childhood in Wyatt, WV. She would later go on to attend and graduate from Lincoln High School. After high school, Michelle attended Fairmont State University. Her generous heart and wild spirit led her to making a career out of helping and serving people. She spent her entire working career dedicated to serving others. Michelle was influenced by her family to be a loving and caring woman and incorporated that into motherhood having two beautiful daughters, Alexis Paige Lucas and Brooklynn Grace Zaleski. As a mother, she was generous, loving and kind. She spoiled them as much as she possibly could. In 2011, Michelle would then meet her fiance and life partner, Rick Fernandez. Michelle is survived by her two daughters, Alexis and Brooklynn, her mother, Patricia Matheny, her three sisters, Tammy Lucas, Kim Daft, and Rene Matheny, her fiance Rick Fernandez, and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Michelle had a contagious laugh and a beautiful spirit. She was a loving mother, sister, partner, and friend. She will be dearly missed by all those who have either met her or had the chance to have a relationship with her. Michelle was a beautiful person who cared more for others than herself and memories of her will be cherished by all. There will be no funeral home services at this time as cremation has been chosen as the final method of disposition. Ralph "Sonny" Edward Cunningham, 77, passed away on October 9, 2023, at his home on Pogue Run Road, Burton, WV. He was born in Burton on August 20, 1946, a son of Charles Beryl Cunningham and Mildred Mearl Spragg Cunningham. He was the father of three children, Brian David Cunningham (Lynna) of New Martinsville, Charles Edward Cunningham (Michelle) of Burton, and Lisa Renee O'Neill (Mike) of New Martinsville. He is survived by five grandchildren, Charles "Chuckie" Cunningham II (Hunter), Nikki Cunningham and her fiance Michael McDowell, Logan Bock, Lance Bock, and Abby Bock. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Remington Cunningham, Reed Cunningham, and Rhett Cunningham, and a sister, Pamela Conaway of Mannington. In addition to his parents, Sonny was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Cunningham, and his previous wife, Beverly Cunningham. Sonny was a 1964 graduate of Hundred High School. He worked as a compressor station operator in Hundred for Carnegie Gas Company, from which he retired. Sonny was a hardworking man devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved working on the family farm where he currently lived and enjoyed fox hunting with many friends. Sonny's final days were blessed with the love and care given to him by his son Chuck, his devoted daughter-in-law, Michelle, and his grandchildren, Nikki, Chuckie and his wife Hunter. A celebration of her remarkable life will take place on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at the church beginning at 11:00am with Pastor Tim Shuttlesworth officiating with interment following at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton. The family extends their heartfelt invitation to all friends and family to join them in remembering and honoring the extraordinary woman Belvia was. Born on April 9, 1926 in the quaint town of Mannington, West Virginia, Belvia was the heart and soul of our family. She was the daughter of Gnetta Stottlemire Stewart and Audra James Stewart. Her life was a rich tapestry woven with love, laughter, and unyielding faith. Belvia's motherly love extended to her son, Roger Lee Stewart and his wife Nancy Louise Drake Stewart. She cherished her sister, Shirley Stewart Cole, and held dear the memory of her late sister, Mildred Stewart Capet. She now rests alongside her brother Harold Stewart and her beloved husband Harold Clovis. Belvia's legacy is carried forward by her three grandsons: Roger Lee Stewart, Shawn Allen Stewart (Stewart Strickland) and Lance Quinton Stewart (Heather Stewart), and her granddaughter Lisa Gale Stewart Fluharty (Jeff Fluharty. ) Belvia was a proud great-grandmother to Abigail Linn Stewart, Caleb Quinton Stewart, Austin Chance Stewart, Levi Grayson Fluharty and Corey Dale Fluharty. Belvia's life was a testament to her kindness, sharp sense of humor, and unwavering faith. We'll fondly remember those moments when, just as we thought she wasn't paying attention, she'd chime in with a witty remark about herself, leaving us in stitches. Her ability to infuse humor into any situation was a remarkable gift she generously shared with us all. The memorial service will be an opportunity to celebrate the life of this extraordinary woman. Jacob was born July 22, 2004, in Fairmont, WV son of Jimmy Price of Jacksonburg and Billie Jo Casto of Rachel, WV. He was currently employed in the fast-food industry, a graduate of North Marion High School and a boy that loved his family and the outdoors. He is preceded in death by grandparents, Bill Casto and Jerry Burch; great grandparents, Lulla Hern Price and William Price.
