James Harold Stern was born on May 25, 1952 to Elsie Eva (Schock) Stern and Reinhold Fredrick Stern and left this world on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at the age of 71 years. After high school Jim became a welder and traveled the world practicing his trade. Many years were spent on the road both in the United States and abroad. Jim returned to the family farm to care for his mother, Elsie when her health was failing and remained on the family farm until his passing. Jim loved hunting and photography as well as spending time with friends and family. Over the years, he took many hunting trips and snapped some absolutely stunning photos. Much like his father and brother Curtis, Jim loved talking to people about many different subjects. Jim had many accomplishments in his life. One of which was ensuring his father Reinhold's vision of the family homestead being placed on the National Register of Historic Places was accomplished. Anyone who knew Jim is well aware of his kind and generous heart as well as his wordsmithing abilities that were constantly mixed in with his sense of humor. Always the optimist, Jim had a way of making tedious tasks or situations humorous. Jim took great joy in kindheartedly harassing others for fun and excelled at it! Jim was and continues to be adored by friends and family alike. Preceding Jim in death were his parents, one brother, Curtis and one niece Karen. Celebrating his life are one niece, Jolene Beenen (Rick Francis) of Lohrville, IA, nephew, Kenneth Stern of Gowrie, IA, one great nephew, Logan (Alyssa) Mogler and one brother, Gary Stern of Olathe, KS and his other relatives and friends. The family respectfully requests in lieu of cards or flowers, donations be made to the Mott Health Care Center, 401 Millionaire Avenue, PO Box 32, Mott, ND 58646. .Show more
