A native of Gaston County, he was born on October 13, 1944, to the late Jim and Irene Bouldin. Clinton attended Westview Baptist Church in Gastonia. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Georgia “Pauline” Collins, 86, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family Thursday, February 22, 2024.Pauline was born June 23, 1937, in Gastonia, NC to the late Fletcher Johnson Crane and Ila Penner Crane.Pauline was known as a great caregiver from her children to her patients she cared for as a CNA. She was a member of South Gastonia Church of God. She attended L.E.C. of Shelby under the care of her niece Karen Bridges. She loved sewing, painting and crafting. She was famous for her cornbread, biscuits and sweet tea. She was well loved by all who met her. She had a full life loving and enjoying her family but most of all her faith and love for her savior Jesus Christ. She will be greatly missed.She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Ruben Collins; her son, Tommy Raymond Collins; sisters, Jackie Ferguson, and Margaret Ransom; brothers, Bobby, Palmer, Claude, and Otis Crane; and grandson, Floyd Collins, Jr.She is survived by her children, Kay Mertz (Richard), Judy Robertson (Rev. Kim), Lori Mahaffey, Melinda McCrary (Kenneth), Fletcher Collins, Brenda Garcia (Joe) and Floyd Collins; sisters, Johnsie Cloninger, and Patsy Long (Charles); brother, Charles Michael Crane (Sandra); 24 grandchildren; and 88 great and great great grandchildren. She was born in Cleveland County, NC, daughter of the late Lester and Loney Hill Phillips and was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Humphries, her siblings, AG Phillips and Edna Thomas, a grandson. Kenneth Hale, and a great grandson, Bobby Hale. Ophelia was of the Baptist faith. She worked in textiles most of her life. She also enjoyed selling at the local flea markets for many years. She was affectionately known as the "Pillow Lady" by many people because of the beautiful pillows and knickknacks she sold. Ophelia was an avid animal lover and enjoyed spending time with her many pets throughout the years. She also enjoyed traveling, especially to the mountains. Ophelia was a wonderful woman whose kindness, love, and friendship will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved her. After her retirement, Inez enjoyed caring for children and loved babysitting her grandchildren. She possessed a generous and loving heart. Sara Jo Beswick Stuart, 74, of Kings Mountain, NC and Fulton, IL, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at the Wendover Hospice House. Born on March 27, 1949, she was a daughter of the late Taylor Beswick and "Mary" Elizabeth Beswick. She was a retired office manager. Sara enjoyed playing cards and was a member of a card club in Fulton as well as bowling where she was a member of Fulton Lanes Bowling Club. She had also been a member of Fulton Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed country dancing with her husband and friends. She also had a passion for sewing crocheting and ceramics for many years. Sara cared for a lot of her friends and family during hard times before they passed away and had such a big heart. She also loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and looked forward to all their activities. You did not see her often without a Pepsi and a cigarette. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two brothers, Tom Beswick and wife Jane and an infant brother and a sister, Marge Houzenga and husband Ken. She is survived by her husband Thermon Stuart; three children, Dan Stuart and wife Cheryl of Fulton, IL, Taylor Stuart and wife Maureen of Hillsboro, MO, and Lisa Marten and husband Kyle of Kings Mountain, NC; a sister, Virginia Fay and husband Jim of Bellevue, NE; and eight grandchildren, Max Stuart, Eli Stuart, Sam Stuart, Isabel Marten, Tatum Marten, Jouva Marten, Caleb Marten, and Niko Marten. DATELINE: KINGS MOUNTAIN, NORTH CAROLINA Pastor Wayne Charles Reese Pastor Wayne Charles Reese, 70, of Kings Mountain, NC, went to be with the Lord on February 15, 2024 at Atrium Health Kings Mountain, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Gaston County, NC, son of the late James and Ruth Hodge Reese and was preceded in death by a son, Austin Reese. Wayne preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ for more than 30 years. He pastored at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Kings Mountain, Cornerstone Baptist Church in Lincolnton, and at Bright Light Baptist Church in Bessemer City. He was a former employee of FMC Lithium and of Clariant Corporation where he worked as a Mechanical Design Engineer. Wayne was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hiking, camping and fishing. More than any thing else, Pastor Wayne loved preaching the gospel and leading souls to Christ. He had a special place in his heart for the bus ministry. Wayne was a wonderful husband, loving father, doting grandad and spiritual mentor to many. His love, guidance, and kindness will be remembered for a lifetime by all who knew him. He was born in Cobb County, GA, son of the late J B Burns and Ethel Gilbreath Burns and was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Kenneth, Thurman, and James Burns. Charlie served his country honorably in the US Army. He was a shareholder and supervisor at Ruppe Hosiery for more than 20 years. Charlie worked at Kings Mountain High School for 15 years as a custodian. He was an avid Kings Mountain football fan and a past coach at KMHS. Charlie was a natural born coach and loved passing along his knowledge and experiences to our youth. He coached Optimist football for more than 30 years and one of the greatest joys of his life was being able to mentor, groom and coach his grandson Darren, throughout his football career and life. Always active, Charlie enjoyed being outdoors, golfing, camping and spending time with his loved ones. Charlie loved being involved and serving as a role model to countless children during his lifetime. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His leadership, commitment, care, and understanding has benefited hundreds of lives and will be remembered by not only his family, but the entire community for a lifetime. An avid dog lover, Ed enjoyed being with his beloved canine companions. Born in Cleveland County, NC, she was daughter of the late Arthur and Wilhelmina Summitt Sprouse. Shirley worked for many years doing clerical work at Kings Mountain Hospital, was a longtime Sunday School teacher, and was also active as a volunteer for various seniors programs. She was a longtime member of Family Worship Center and most recently attended Midview Baptist Church of Kings Mountain. Despite staying busy with work and serving others, Shirley still managed to be an exemplary homemaker. Her extensive collection of cookbooks helped her to be an amazing cook for her family and friends. Shirley was a wonderful mother for her children and the best Mamaw for her grandchildren. She always thought of others before herself. Her love, warmth, and affection will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. Mrs. Giles was born October 25, 1934 in Gastonia, NC to the late George Edward Styers and the late Laura Beatrice Baldwin Styers. She was married to the late Bobby Dean Giles.She was a member of Marion Baptist Church, 2669 Marion Rd, Chatham, VA 24531. She earned her master’s degree from UNC-Charlotte, NC and proudly served as a teacher and later as a Principal in several North Carolina schools.Family members left to remember Mrs. Giles include her children; Debra L. Giles, Karen G. Goode, Gregory D. Giles (Theresa) and Lisa G. Nobles (Jeff). She is survived by nine grandchildren: Barbara Francom (Mark), Crystal Carter (Ezra), Sarah Deese (Jeff), Lola Kristen Giles (Amanda), Nicholas Nobles (Sarah), Bobby Giles II (Kayla), Matthew Nobles (Maggie), Dana Strehl (Jacob), and Falicia Nierman (Devon).
