"Thomas Alden Renaud, age 85, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2024. He was born in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, on November 21, 1938, to Alden and Marne Renaud. He was married to Rita for 63 years. Thomas was a Senion Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy. He was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church. Thomas had a passion for Florida Gators Football. Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Alden Renaud; mother, Marne Renaud and son, Christopher Renaud. Thomas is survived by his wife, Rita Renaud; daughter, Robin Jackson (Jayson); daughter, Renee Khatena (Moshe); grandson, Dylan Jackson; brother, Bill Renaud (Carol); four nieces and one nephew. Funeral Services will be Friday, March 1, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South. Visitation will be one hour prior at 10:00 AM. Chaplain David Gibson will be officiating. "Jimmy Lamar Sasser passed away suddenly at his home in Pensacola, Florida on February 29, 2024 at the age of 80. He was born on May 29, 1943 in Chipley, Florida as the middle child of S.T. and Beckie Lee Parker Sasser. Jimmy grew up in Chipley and Pensacola and enjoyed playing football, basketball and baseball in high school. At the age of 18, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and faithfully served for 21 years until he retired in 1982 as MSG 05G5H Signal Security Specialist. Jimmy served 4 tours of duty in various stations in Germany and 3 tours at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. His military decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. After retiring, he continued to work serving his country via Civil Service as the assistant athletic director at both NAS and Corry Station in Pensacola until he retired in 2004. Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents S.T. and Beckie Lee Parker Sasser, and brother Dennis Wayne Sasser. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary “Carole” Sasser; daughters, Lisa (John) English of Gulf Breeze, Florida, Angela M. Sasser of Pensacola, Florida; son, Lance (Shannon) Sasser of Panama City Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Ashley L. Spencer, Brooke (Chase) Whitworth and Parker Nelson; great-grandchildren, India Jade Whitworth, Richard Chase \u0026quot;Little Man\u0026quot; Whitworth Jr., and Remi Rose Whitworth; and brother, Roy Sasser of West Lafayette, Indiana. Jimmy never met a stranger. He was well known for his great sense of humor. He enjoyed watching his Alabama Crimson Tide football team playing every fall and loved playing poker with his pals year-round at the Pensacola Greyhound Poker Room earning the nickname \u0026quot;Luck Box\u0026quot;. His life motto was “Winners never quit and quitters never win” He will be greatly missed by all those whom knew him. "Sally Lou Shoop, 91, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away on February 22, 2024. Her husband Glenn was holding her hand when she passed away and went to be with Jesus. She was born in Canton, Ohio on August 25, 1932 to Paul Streby and Mary Quass Streby. She was married to Glenn Shoop on March 11, 1955 and they were married nearly 68 years. Sally Lou Shoop worked as a Legal Secretary until they were married and as a homemaker after marriage. She was a member of Klondike Church and had a passion for Jesus, the Bible and people. She gave her life to Jesus Christ watching a Billy Graham Crusade. She served as a leader in Bible Study Fellowship for 20 years and in a Hospital visitation ministry for nearly a decade. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mary Streby. She was survived by her husband, Glenn Shoop; sons, Brian (Brenda) Shoop, and Duane Shoop; grandchildren, Scott and Andie Shoop, Joshua and Emily Aldy, Hannah Shoop and Sarah Shoop, Jesse and Hannah Shoop; eight great grandchildren, Moriah Ellie, Eden, Owen, Emmaus, Salem, Havilah and Louise. Pallbearers will be Scott Shoop, Jesse Shoop, Joshua Aldy, Cory Estabrook, Frank Gibson and Kenneth Ebersole. "Donald Stanley Lenn was born on March 4, 1934 in Fredericksburg, VA, and died Feb 21, 2024 in Pensacola, FL. The son of a career Marine Corps officer, Don entered the Corps in 1953 at Parris Island and retired after 20 years as a Marine Corp Captain. He married Barbara Gravrock in June, 1954 in Springfield, IL, and they lived at Camp Lejeune, NC, Toledo, OH, Quantico, VA, Rota, Spain, Kanehoe, HI, and he served tours in Okinawa and Vietnam. He said he would never retire where he had to shovel snow or mow grass 12 months a year. A neighbor in Hawaii talked about Pensacola, and sight unseen they moved here with their 4 children. It proved to be a wise decision. He attended UWF and was employed at Gulf Power, retiring in 1989. He volunteered with Habitat for Humanity for many years, was an active member of St Paul Lutheran and Epiphany Lutheran churches, serving as Treasurer and instrumental in establishing an Endowment Fund at both churches, and also served on the Property Committees. Don is survived by his wife, Barbara, and their sons David (Cindy), Robert, Thomas (Terri), James (Michele), nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, and brother Jerry (Emily) A Celebration of Life service will be held at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 6700 Spanish Trail, on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 3:00 PM, preceded by visitation at 2:15 PM. Burial at Barrancas National Cemetery will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Memorial Fund at Epiphany Lutheran Church. He was married to Dorothy E. “Libby” Orthwein for 45 years. Ken worked as a Chemical Technician at Monsanto/Solutia until retirement. He was a faithful member of the Heritage Baptist Church of Pensacola, serving as trustee for many years. He enjoyed fishing and working with wood projects, eventually building a cottage in Arkansas which he enjoyed for 20 years. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, George and Laura Gundersen; and his brother, George Gundersen. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Libby; his daughter, Karen Marie Gundersen; his son, Kenneth J. Gundersen; brother, Richard C. Gundersen; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Services for Kenneth J. Gundersen will be held Monday, March 4, 2024 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South. The family will receive friends for visitation at 11:30 AM. Alejandro M. "AL" Castro, Jr. 1934 - 2024 Alejandro M. Castro Jr., age 89, resident of Pensacola, FL, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on February 25, 2024. Al was born in Yuaco, Puerto Rico on September 3, 1934, he was the 2nd child of 16 children of Alejandro and Anna Castro. He grew up in Yuaco, and at the age of 18 left Puerto Rico for New York City, where he received his first social security card at the Empire State Building. He joined the Air Force and then switched to the Navy and became a helicopter mechanic and photographer and retired after 20 years of service to our country. He then continued being a photographer in the civil service at NAS. Al retired in 1999 and spent his retirement traveling around the world and enjoying life with his wife Barbara. Al is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Barbara; children, Sherri Ann Grant and Deborah Ann Castro; stepchildren, John Salter (Rhonda) and Vera Wiley (William); along with his grandchildren, Paige, Shelby, Raven, Saleyna, Olivia, and Abigail; great grandchildren, Skyrah and Maleko. Al was a kind soul who loved tinkering around the house and always liked to stay busy throughout the day. He was an excellent cook and loved sharing his Puerto Rican foods with others. He loved animals and would take loving care of his pets and wild animals throughout the area. He had an adventurer’s spirit and youthful playfulness that he demonstrated throughout his life including having his private pilot’s license and flying his plane around the gulf coast area. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in his name to St. Jude’s Hospital. - Memorial Service to take place at a later time at Barrancas National Cemetery.

Charles Joseph Allen, 62, of Goshen, AL passed away after a long illness on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Florida. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2024 at Skeen Funeral Home Chapel with eulogy given by family and friends. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 3, 2024, from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at Skeen Funeral Home located at 707 S. George Wallace Dr., Troy, AL 36081. Charles was preceded in death in death by his parents, James Hall Allen and Opal Beck Allen. Charles grew up in Macon, Ga. and served in the United States Navy. He worked in the aviation industry for several companies as an aerospace engineer. This job was a passion of his and he traveled the United States leaving his mark on the industry. Charles was also a gun enthusiast and proud member of the NRA. His passion for firearms was most noticeable when he was teaching and practicing with friends and family. The compassion and patience, along with his wise cracks, he demonstrated when teaching you to shoot will leave a lasting impression and precious memories. Charles also enjoyed spending time outdoors riding atv’s or his Harley. You would know it was him coming from a mile away with his loud pipes and 80’s rock music blaring. Charles shared his life with his wife Sue and their dog Peanut. They have been together for seventeen years and married for eleven of those years. Although they may have been opposites except for their iconic stubbornness which matched perfectly, the thing they shared and cherished the most was their love for family. Charles is survived by his wife Sue Quincey Allen; four sons, Charles Joseph Allen Jr, aka CJ (Nate Booth), Austin Allen (Aspen Hartley), Phillip Quincey (Mallory), Andrew Quincey (Danielle) and one daughter, Kasey Brooks. He was also Grandpa Charles to four grandchildren: Kelly, Katie, Gracie, and Forrest; one brother, Troy Allen (Tracey); two nieces, Tori and Courtney. He is also survived by two lifelong friends Brian Nelms and Jack Harris as well as close friends, Dave Vollrath, Mark Parsons, and Dan Brent. Charles was a simple man who liked to be comfortable. The family asks for those who will be celebrating his life to come as they are because Charles would have.

Richard Johnson took his rest on February 27, 2024, after a hard fought 2-year battle with cancer. He was born to Cecil and Claudia (Locklear) Johnson in Milton, FL, where he was the youngest of 8 children. He is preceded in death by his parents; and 3 siblings: Cecil L. “Buddy”, Betty, and Mildred. He is survived by his wife Susan (Grandchamp) Johnson; siblings: Sue Schaff, Barbara (Bill) Irwin, Fred, and James Johnson; his children: Jeromy (Melody) Pierce, Angela (Rutland) Lozzio, and Anna Marie Johnson; stepsons Marlon (Jennifer) and Matthew Bonckowski; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Richard was known for his sense of humor and generosity. He belonged to the Living Church of God and considered the congregation there to be his family too. He will be missed by all those who knew him. The family would like to thank Dr. Yazan Alsayed and the staff at Sacred Heart Cancer Center and Hospital, SunCrest Omni Home Health Care, Vitas Hospice Care, Island Doctors and all the nurses and healthcare workers who were involved in supporting him through his battle with cancer. Their love and compassion go beyond measure. The family will be hosting a celebration of life at a later time.
