Earl Harvey Dallman

Earl Harvey Dallman, age 92, of Merrill, died peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, while under the care of Interim Hospice. He was born on October 6, 1931 to the late Erwin and Martha (Grassberger) Dallman in Merrill. Earl attended Merrill High School and graduated with the class of 1949. He met his soul mate, Andrea Mae Fox, and the two exchanged marriage vows on October 18, 1952 in Merrill. Sadly, she passed away on February 19, 2016.Earl took over the family farm in 1961 and was a dairy farmer for the majority of his life. Before farming, he drove gravel truck and worked in road construction. Earl also had a few jobs to supplement farming by working at the cranberry marsh, a short stint at J.W. Perry and working for the town of Corning, driving the town grader. Earl had a passion for the outdoors. Deer hunting was a priority and he formed bonds with his Buckhorn family that lasted his life. Earl loved making firewood and working in the woods. He made annual trips to Canada fishing. Earl and Andrea traveled after retirement, a 2-week train trip out West and visiting Switzerland, Florida and Branson, MO. He is remembered as a good person, that liked to joke around and always had a story to tell. Earl was a member of the Houndsman Club, AMPI and of Trinity Lutheran Church – WELS. He will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.Earl is survived by his daughter: Marge (Gary) Roggenbuck, son: Mike Dallman, both of Merrill, grandchildren: Amy (Steve) Zimmermann of Kennesaw, GA and Mark (Krystal) Roggenbuck, Quentin Roggenbuck (Krysta Koenig), Scott Leo Dallman (Melissa Tremaine) and Travis (Cassie) Dallman, all of Merrill, great grandchildren: Emily Zimmermann, Sarah Zimmermann, Caylee Rose Dallman, Kaisyn Michael Dallman and Addilyn Rayne Dallman, sister-in-laws: Lorraine Dallman, Marion Fox and Linda Fox, brother-in-laws: Wally (Martha) Bahlow, David (Marlene) Fox, Royal (Geri) Fox and Dennis (Earleen) Fox and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law: Ned and Martha Fox, son: Scott Thomas Dallman, great grandson: Jake Roggenbuck, brothers: Myron (Deloris) and Lloyd Dallman, in-laws: Carlos (Carol) Hass, Bill (Edna) Dey, Eugene (Lucille) Fox, Ned Fox Jr. and Alfred (Jimmy) Fox.The memorial service for Earl will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church – WELS, in the town of Berlin. Rev. Andrew DeGier will officiate. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Waid Funeral Home, and again on Friday, February 9, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service, at the church. Fred Will, 95, of Merrill, embraced his Savior on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, leaving this earthly home.Fred was born on April 29, 1928 in Irma, WI, the son of Godfrey and Anna (Schenzel) Will. He moved to Merrill at the age of 18 to work on the Pope Dairy Farm. As grace would have it, he fell in love with the farmers daughter. Fred and Cora (Pope) were married on June 4, 1953. Fred and Cora purchased the farm soon thereafter and successfully farmed for many years. He then went to tech school for welding and brought his welding skills to a few manufacturers in Merrill, before landing and retiring from what he considered to be his "dream job" at the DNR in Tomahawk, WI. Fred built a number of prototype firebreak implements there, for which he was quite proud; some of the equipment plans he made and produced are being replicated to this day.Fred was a thoughtful and fun-loving person. He enjoyed music, rides on this UTV and chatting about anything and everything. He liked watching the Brewers and Packers. Fred’s love for hunting was unmatched and made evident by the 10-point buck he shot with a bow at the age of 94! He had a joke, saying, or song for every situation and a very special way of making others feel loved. Fred was also skilled in restoring antique cars and tractors, and loved working on his various woodworking projects. Fred had a strong and genuine faith in God and was a grace-loving man. He is remembered as a strong, intelligent and capable person that was a joy to be around. Fred was a member at St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ. He is certainly gone too soon and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.Fred leaves behind many nephews and nieces, which include a special niece: Laurie (Mark) Stilwell and their sons: Christopher and Daniel (Angie), as well as 2 special nephews: Dave (Roxie) Johnson and Jim (Sally) Will, along with a sister-in-law: Jean Will and many other extended family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Cora, and infant sister: Edola and infant brother: Alvin, sisters: Laura (Alfred) Johnson, Dorothy (Leonard) Mayville, Viola (Stanley) King, Adeline Huey and Lauretta (Maurice) Tiffany, brothers: Albert (Anna) Will, Raymond (Gladys) Will and Roland Will, and most recently, his sweetheart: Phyllis Frederick.The funeral service for Fred will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Waid Funeral Home. Rev. Mike Southcombe and Mark Stilwell will officiate. The visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Waid Funeral Home, and again on Thursday, February 8, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service, also at the funeral home. Marilyn Kay Maschke, age 72, of Merrill, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, while under the care of Interim Hospice. She was born on January 2, 1952, to the late Glen and Julia (Tscherter) Buffinton in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Marilyn graduated from Merrill High School in 1971, and began working as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Pine Crest Nursing Home shortly thereafter, putting in 40 ½ years until her retirement. Marilyn met Clarence Maschke, and the two were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill on May 28, 1978. He survives. The couple were members at Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill.Family was first and foremost in Marilyn’s life, especially her grandchildren, they were her everything. She enjoyed reading, and hosting parties for family and friends. Marilyn was an amazing cook and was well-known for her famous caramel bars! She had a huge collection of recipes and always liked to try something new. Marilyn was very passionate about her flower gardens, she loved flowers, especially Calla Lilly’s and Fuchsias. She also would care for her tomato plants and harvest the tomatoes. Marilyn enjoyed watching the hummingbirds visit her flowers. She was a kind and giving woman that always put others first, truly having a servant’s heart. Marilyn will be sadly missed, but will remain with her family and friends forever.Marilyn is survived by her husband of 45 years: Clarence Maschke, son: Jason (Renae) Maschke, daughter: Julia (Pat) Spoehr, her beloved grandchildren: Steven Spoehr, Paige Spoehr and Alex Maschke, brother: Jerry (Cindy) Buffinton, sisters-in-law: Beverly (John) Prentice, Rose (Steve) Macheichok and Linda (John) Gleason, brother-in-law: Joseph (Faye) Maschke, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law: Anthony and Eleanor Maschke, stepparent-in-law: Margery Klammer Buffinton and brothers-in-law: Butch Hendricks and Randy Maschke.The memorial service for Marilyn will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at Waid Funeral Home in Merrill. "Minnie" Pearl Alma Eleanor Sabatke, age 85, passed on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Pine Crest Nursing Home in Merrill. Pearl was born on February 4, 1939 and was the daughter to the late Arthur and Elfrieda (Lambrecht) Porath in Wausau, Wisconsin. Pearl married the love of her life, Leslie Sabatke on June 16, 1956, they enjoyed nearly 65 beautiful years together before his passing in 2021.Pearl worked in House Keeping for Merrill Medical, cleaning the doctors’ offices and their homes, Eagle’s Club, Pine Crest and the VFW in Merrill. She also worked at Tiny Tot in Merrill in her younger days.Pearl was involved with Merrill Forward Together, Ladies Aide (Women’s Guild) at St. Stephens Church, Eagles Club, VFW Aux., Church Choir, and Clover Leaf Homemakers of Corning.She proudly joined the Eagles Auxiliary #584 in 1977, where she held several different positions and was President of the Auxiliary for a few different terms. She was State Eagles President from 2004 to 2005, Great Lakes Regional Eagles President from 2008 to 2009 and was inducted into the State Eagles Hall of Fame in 2008. She was also a life member of the VFW since 1996. Of her many achievements, her more recent one was earning her GED in 2014.Pearl enjoyed her flower garden, baking and watching the grandkids events and sports. While at Pine Crest, Pearl played bingo, she learned how to play Bunko, she sang with Elvis and got into Karaoke. She also joined the Choir and Bell Choir there. But her favorite time was happy hour where she was able to enjoy her strong soda on the rocks. "Minnie" Pearl was a witty, good-natured and warmhearted woman. She will truly be missed by all those who knew her.Pearl is survived by her children: Gerald (Patti) Sabatke, Linda (Marty Malzahn) Sabatke, and Craig (Crystal) Sabatke, grandchildren: Andrew (Pamela) Sabatke, Adam (Jackie) Sabatke, Breyden (Shellby Walters) Sabatke, and Bryce Sabatke, great-grandchildren: Drew, Noah, Owen, Ella, Leslie, Corey, and Isabelle Sabatke, siblings: Shirley Olkives and Robert (Bernice) Porath, siblings-in-law, Laverne (Diana) Sabatke, Larry (Lois) Sabatke, and MaryAnn Forster, and good friend and roommate: Florence Schaupp along with many nieces and nephews, some of whom were her favorites, but don’t tell anyone else.She is preceded in death by her parents, husband: Leslie Sabatke, son: Rodney Sabatke, siblings: Otto (Selma) Porath, Lavilla (Albert) Steckling, Grace (Arnold) Raddatz, Lorraine (Victor) Raddatz, Charlotte (Roman) Labarge, Ronald (Phyllis and Veronica) Porath, and Melvin (Pat) Porath, siblings-in-law: Clifford Sabatke, Jack (Ginny) Sabatke, Bernice (Lylas) Berndt, Phyllis (Ray) Schlueter, Don Forster and Allan Olkives.A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 11:30 am at St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ in Merrill. Rose Marie Lakes, 87, of Merrill, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2024, at her home.Rose Marie was born December 13, 1936, in Merrill, daughter of Rinehardt and Johanna (Hassel) Graap. She married Steven E. Lakes and he passed away on September 15, 2007. Rose Marie worked many years as a registered nurse at hospitals in California and eventually took a position in home care nursing. Rose Marie moved back to the Merrill area about 15 years ago.Rose Marie is survived by her children, Cindy Martinez of Redding, CA, Debbie Guardade of Central Point, OR, and Randy (Regina) Degner of Merrill; 22 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. Rose Marie is preceded in death by her husband, Steven Lakes; parents, Rinehart and Johanna Graap; daughter Mary Degner; grandson, Ricky Degner; and several siblings.Per Rose Marie’s wishes, no formal service will be held. Gerald C. ‘Jerry’ Leistikow, 88, of Merrill, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill.Jerry was born March 24, 1935, in the Town of Corning, Lincoln County, son of Clarence Sr. and Minnie (Bartelt) Leistikow. He met the love of his life, Sally Ingersoll, and the two lovingly exchanged marriage vows on January 7, 1956, at St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill. In 1961, Jerry and Sally relocated their family to Fort Lewis Military Base in Washington when Jerry was called to serve in the National Guard during the Berlin Crisis.
