Claudia Moore Burke passed away peacefully Friday June 10, 2022, with her son and daughter by her side. On the days leading up to her death she had the chance to visit with each one of her 9 granddaughters, whom she loved so much. Claudia, better known as "Mia," by her family, was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Jim and Virginia Moore. She and her brother Jamie spent most of their childhood in Columbus, Ohio. Claudia moved to Atlanta, Georgia with her young family in her early twenties and she lived there for over 50 years. She was a medical assistant for several years but spent most of her life as a homemaker. She had exceptional taste and created a beautiful home. As an avid art collector, she curated a collection of glass, paintings, gemstones, turned wood, Lladro and contemporary American crafts. Claudia was always the mother of 2-3 cats. She was a true animal lover, and her kitties were her cherished babies. Her family has fond memories of playing her favorite game with her: Scrabble. She was an expert player, a skill passed down from her mother and which she in turn passed down to her family. Claudia was also a runner for most of her life and ran in the 10K Peachtree Road Race well over 20 times. One of the biggest joys in her life was traveling. She had the opportunity to visit many wonderful places including the Far East, Egypt, and Europe. Some of her most memorable trips include seeing the Gorillas in the Congo, attending the America's Cup in Australia, visiting the Lladro factory in Spain, skiing in Vail, Colorado with her granddaughters, and exploring the Galapagos Islands with her former husband Wayne, her son Chris, and her granddaughter Audrey. Most importantly, Claudia loved her children and grandchildren. She was a one-of-a-kind grandmother and their greatest cheerleader. She took a great interest in each of her children and grandchildren's passions and always wanted the latest updates on how each one was doing. She loved holding hands, laughing, cozy pajamas, a good glass of wine or a cold Stella and enjoyed every last bite of a good dessert (and everyone else's too!). She will be lovingly remembered by her former husband, Wayne Burke. Her son, Chris Kromer (Marilee) and her daughter Erin Fawcett. Her nine granddaughters, Lindsey Kromer, Katherine Lamb (Marc), Audrey Kromer, Emily Verwijst (Justin), Sarah Kromer, Margaret Fawcett, Ashley Kromer, Grace Fawcett and Caroline Claudia Fawcett, as well as her great-grandson, Kevin Lamb. We are all very saddened by her death but will always remember her waving goodbye to us in the sky. A memorial service will be held later, at her burial in Gallipolis, Ohio, where her parents and other family members are buried. The family wishes to send a special thank you to the Caregivers and nurses at Charter Senior Living of Oak Openings for their care and compassion during Claudia's last months. The family suggests in lieu of flowers that a donation be made in her memory to the Atlanta Humane Society.
