Claire I (Lacouture) Woodworth, 96, of North Smithfield, passed away October 6, 2023 with her family by her side She was the wife of Ernest Woodworth Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Irene (Trinque) Lacouture Mrs Woodworth was a 1944 graduate of St Clare High School, a 1948 graduate of St Joseph's School of Nursing, a 1955 graduate of Boston College, and in 1956 she received a Master's Degree in Science & Nursing from Boston University She worked as a School Nurse Teacher for the Woonsocket School Dept , retiring in 1995 Claire was a communicant of St John the Evangelist Church, and was a member of the North Smithfield Garden Club She was a charter member of the North Smithfield Heritage Association, she received the Francesco Cannistra M D Memorial Award in 1995, and she began the Clean and Green Day and Adopt-A-Spot in North Smithfield She is survived by her son, Christopher Woodworth and his wife, Karen, of North; a daughter, Michele Gerber of North Smithfield; five grandchildren, Sarah, Jessica, Laura, Kevin, and Jared; as well as, a great granddaughter, Odette She as the sister of the late Elaine Marteka Her funeral will be held Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 9 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St , Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM in St John the Evangelist Church, 63 Church St , Slatersville Burial will follow in the parish cemetery Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-7 PM In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 964 Main St , Pawtucket, RI 02860 To to the family or in memory of Claire I Woodworth, please

Gertrude "Trudy" Lamoureux, 96, of Providence Pike, North Smithfield, died Sunday, October 29, 2023 with her daughter by her side. She was the widow of Normand Lamoureux. Born in Bellingham, MA, she was a daughter of the late Donald R. and Antoinette (Sweck) Gross. Trudy moved to Florida in 1984 and returned to North Smithfield to live with her daughter, Elaine in 2018. Gertrude was lovingly referred to as Trudy and had many other special names; her two daughters called her mom, but many others called her mom as well. She could light up a room! She made everyone feel special and beautiful. She was our coach! She was the beloved mother of Elaine Heath, with whom she lived, and the late Janice Bergeron, grandmother of: Kimberly Galipeau Metta and William Galipeau and his wife, Becky and their children: Trudy's beloved great granddaughters: Grace and Clara Galipeau. She is also survived by her son-in-law: Dennis Bergeron and a sister-in-law, Margaret Gross and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews and her Florida Family. She was the mother-in-law of the late Douglas Heath, grandmother-in-law of Douglas Metta and sister of the late Phyllis Parenteau, Grace Carriere, Donald and Robert Gross. A Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be held in Trudy's parish, St. Agatha's Church, 34 Joffre Avenue, Woonsocket, RI 02895 at 10am on Monday, November 13, 2023. Gertrude was proud to be a part of the founding of the church in 1953. Burial will be private. The family will greet guests at church Monday morning before mass from 9-10am. James "Jay" Francis Leary, 67, of North Smithfield, RI passed away peacefully on October 28, 2023, surrounded by his loving family and friends after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Born in Winthrop, MA on March 5, 1956, he was the son of Alicia (Barclay) Leary and the late James R. Leary. He was the former spouse of Marilyn (Pestana) Leary of Cumberland, RI. Jay was a truck driver for 45 years, always bragging about his impeccable driving record. He enjoyed his time bowling with his best friends and playing cards. Jay had a strong love for music, especially classic rock. He would play his favorite songs on repeat for everyone to hear. He enjoyed riding his Harley and going on road trips to Laconia each year for bike week with his brother and best friends. He enjoyed gambling, including playing cribbage, high low jack, roulette, scratch tickets, betting the horses and football. He was a dreamer and the multimillionaire life style was only one powerball ticket away. He also had a passion for playing billiards, golf and tennis; he was quick to take your money if you were up for the challenge. Jay was also a phenomenal skier; he was so competent in his skiing abilities that he didn't require snowpants. His most precious memories were spent in New Hampshire teaching his children how to ski and more recently teaching his grandchildren to ski as well. His love for his grandchildren was undeniable and he would spend every weekend with them, teaching them how to bet the horses, play cards, and spoiling them with skittles all day. He provided them with a master's degree in trifectas. Jay always lived his life to the fullest, he never had a bad day no matter what hand of cards he was dealt. No matter what life threw at him he responded with optimism and humor. Even through the past year of his illness he never complained or gave up hope, instead he went out of his way to bring light, laughter, and happiness to his family and friends. He is survived by his loving children; Michaela Vacca and her husband Aaron of Bourne, MA, James Leary and his wife Pim of Cumberland, RI and two beloved grandchildren, Cameron and Nolan Vacca. He is also survived by his siblings; his identical twin brother Richard Leary and wife Kathy of Johnston, RI, Karen Curran of Walnut Creek, CA and Beverly Leary of Chicago, IL. He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews; Chrystal Doyle, Tiffany O'Sullivan, Amanda Loftus, Tommy Curran and Jonathan Leary. In addition, he leaves behind an incredible group of friends that have been in his life since childhood; friends that have since become brothers and family. Diane F. (Gauthier) Vadeboncoeur, 70, of North Smithfield, RI, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, October 21, 2023. Born March 2, 1953, in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Charles "Ed" Gauthier and Beatrice (Denomme) Gauthier. She was the beloved wife of Emile "Sonny" Vadeboncoeur, to whom she was married for 48 years. Diane and Sonny met at a neighbor's house while he was doing renovations. After they married, Diane supported her husband's carpentry business, bookkeeping and managing all administrative responsibilities. In addition to managing her husband's business, Diane was a homemaker and a hospice volunteer. The roles that were most important to her, however, were those of Mom and Memere to her 3 treasured children and 7 grandchildren. Diane was an avid reader and she loved traveling with family and friends. She enjoyed crocheting, having made hats, gloves, scarves, stuffed animals and blankets for her family, friends and for donations. She was the matriarch, a fierce advocate for her family who would often be the first call if someone needed help of any kind. Diane is survived by her children, Dawn Hardy and her husband, Brian; Tracy Vadeboncoeur and her husband, David Bouley; Eric Vadeboncoeur and his wife Kristin. She also leaves her grandchildren, Shayna Kelley, and her husband, Ryan; Alyssa, Connor, and Evan Hardy; Cody and Cassandra Bouley; and Ethan and Grace Vadeboncoeur. They will greatly miss their cherished Mom V/Memere. Diane is also survived by her brother, James Gauthier and his wife Betty; her sister Donna Lavimodiere and her husband James Carrier; and many loving nieces and nephews. John William Marchand Jr. , a Marine Corps Veteran and resident of North Smithfield, RI, passed away on October 12th, 2023, at his home. He was born in North Attleboro, MA, and was the son of the late John William Proctor Marchand and the late Helen Baglini (nee Mobriant). Additionally, he was lovingly cared for by his grandmother, Lillian Mobriant (nee Ewen), whom he held in deep affection. John leaves behind his devoted wife of 50 years, Elaine Marie Grenier Marchand, along with his children: John William Marchand III of North Smithfield, RI, Nicole Taylor Haslam, and her husband Kevin of Cranston, RI. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Ciara Taylor Marchand, John William Marchand IV, Jack Whitman Haslam, and Andy Emerson Haslam. He also leaves behind his sisters Debra Wentworth and her husband Charles of South Kingstown, RI, Lisa Lee of Bellingham, MA, Carol Voisinet of Woonsocket, RI, Donna Kingsman and her husband Thomas of Attleboro, MA, a brother-in-law James Coyne of Foxboro, MA, a half-brother Jefim Parkhurst of Bellingham, MA and numerous nieces and nephews. John also held a special place in his heart for his late siblings, Daryl Parkhurst, Pamela Coyne, Kathleen Ishler, Timothy Marchand, and Gary Marchand whom he spoke of fondly and cared for deeply. John was a man who loved playing music, sharing jokes, and tinkering to solve problems. He was always ready and willing to assist those in need, maintaining close contact with old friends and extended family members alike. As a husband and father, John provided unwavering support to his family, ensuring they enjoyed the stability he lacked in his childhood. His grandchildren will forever hold dear the memories of their time spent with their Grandpa, from soaring from the tree swing he lovingly crafted, and relishing secret moments of candy-sharing after bedtime, to riding alongside him on his tractor or sharing nearly-age-appropriate jokes. John's family wishes to acknowledge the members of his band, "Fixed Income," and their wives, as well as his former bandmates from groups like "Road Trip" and "Morse Code. " Performing music brought immense comfort and joy to his life and often allowed him to speak when he didn't have the words. Louisa Sidney Caswell, 66, of North Smithfield, RI passed away after a long hard battle with lung cancer on October 11, 2023, with family by her side. Born in Akron Ohio, she was the daughter of the late John and Anne (Gardner) Sidney. She was the loving wife of the late Glenn F. Caswell. Louisa received her bachelor's degree from SNHU in November of 2021. She worked as a Payroll Specialist in Framingham, MA and North Providence, RI School Systems. She was a brilliant woman with a wonderful sense of humor. She was a also breast cancer survivor. She had many interests, holding many leadership roles at the local and state levels of the Toastmasters chapter Saturday Brunch Bunch, as well as spending time at the beach, reading and being her grandson's biggest hockey fan. In her younger years she enjoyed tennis, badminton, bowling and time in the Boy Scouts where she met her late husband. She was a member of Explorer Post 525 in Framingham. She enjoyed watching her daughters performing in their theater, sports and choral endeavors. Louisa's greatest love was her love for her family, she was also known to be "mom" to any kids who needed a mother. She always made herself available with a listening ear to those who needed it. She leaves behind a loving family. Her daughters, Rachel Remington, her husband Bill and Heidi Caslin along with her husband, Jared. Her brother, Richard Sidney and his wife Sandra, her niece, Sarah Sidney, along with her sister Joanna Peatfield and her husband John. Louisa also leaves behind her grandson, Tyler Remington. "William Charles King Jr. , "Bill", 76, of North Smithfield, passed away on August 24, 2023 after a lifelong battle of complications due to Agent Orange. Bill was born on March 16th 1947 to Cecelia (Sandberg) and William King in Providence. After graduating from Pilgrim High School in 1966, he was drafted into the United States Army where he served in Vietnam from 1967-1968, during the Tet Offensive, as a Radio Operator in the First Calvary Division. After serving his country, Bill worked for Lakeside Children's Home and coached Little League Baseball, where he led his team to three back to back Warwick City Championships. Bill continued his passion for youth at Stephen's Children's Home in Swansea until retirement in the mid-90's. Throughout his early retirement, Bill was able to provide the best childhood possible for his children that included fishing, camping, traveling, and sporting events to name a few. His greatest honor in life was being a father, and loved his children more than life itself. Bill was predeceased by his Mother, Cecelia; Father, William; Sister, Barbara (King) Gautieri; Brother Randy Sivigny; and his two Golden Retrievers, Cloudy I and Cloudy II. Bill is survived by his two children, Jessica King of Cranston and Benjamin King of North Smithfield; Mother of his children and friend, Joann Shulver of Cranston; Siblings, Kathy Fitzpatrick and James King; numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly; and last, but certainly not least, his Black Lab, Bella.
