Claire Windsor Snead passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 20, 2022. Services will be held Saturday, June 25, at 10:00 am, St. James Anglican Church, Dalhart, Texas followed by interment at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are held by Horizon Funeral Home in Dalhart, Texas. Claire was born July 4th, 1930, in Amarillo, Texas to Nannie Mae and Richard Windsor. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1948 and attended Texas State College for Women. On August 10, 1949 Claire married Ray Snead, and they lived at Folsom, NM before moving to Amarillo and eventually making their home in Dalhart, where she reared her family. Claire attended St. James Anglican Church. She served her community well through several endeavors. She served on the boards of St. James Church, The Diocese of Northwest Texas, Panhandle Plains Historical Museum, and numerous other boards. She was also a member of the Junior League of Amarillo and a member of the DAR. Claire is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ray, her sisters, Deanie Burress and Nancy Shryoc, daughter-in-law, Marsha Snead, and two grandsons, Ray Allison Snead, IV and Johnathan Windsor Snead. She is survived by her four children, Bud Snead, Katy Brunner and husband, Robin, Suzy Murray and husband, Scott, and Will Snead and wife, Valerie. Left with great memories of their GG are 15 grandchildren, Rebecca Reep and husband, Cody, Rachel Hunter and husband, Craig, Sarah Ralston and husband, Wes, Cathryn Dail and husband, Les, Christen Parker and husband, Kevin, Mark Murray and wife, Tara, Will Brunner and wife, Claire, JT Higgins, Ross Brunner and wife, Lacey, Claire Rojas and husband, Andres, Will Snead, Jr. and wife, Kate, Ben Snead and wife, Laura, Bert Brunner and wife, Cece, Luke Snead and wife, Samantha, and Madison Rose and husband, Andy. Also left to cherish her memory are 34 great-grandchildren, dear friend Judy Sims, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. James Anglican Church, 801 Denver, Dalhart, Texas 79022.
