"ARTHUR G. STARKS JR. Arthur G. Starks Jr., 81, of New Milford, PA entered into rest on February 23, 2024 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jackie; a step son, Jason Cook and Kristi Byham; a treasured grandson, Aeden Cook; his children, Stephen and Susan; his siblings, Carolyn (Vincent) Swarts, Roberta (Roland) Ely, Jeanette (Richard Davis) Runyon, Mary (Robert) Pritchett, James Starks, and Debbie (Steve Zabriski) Ferraro; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur Sr. and Seany Starks; and a sister, Charlotte. Arthur graduated from North Penn High School in 1960 and entered the US Army. He attended West Point and fulfilled his military duties. He worked for IBM as a Tool and Die Maker/Machinist. Then he worked for Felchar’s. Arthur was known for his ability to tell a story and make people smile. Arthur enjoyed working on cars, live music, hunting, and fishing. His favorite times were spent with his family, especially with his grandson. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, March 2, 2024 at the Franklin Hill Presbyterian Church. Inurnment will be made in Franklin Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 11-12, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may take the form of a donation the V.F.W. "Joan Marie MacConnell, 88, of New Milford, PA entered into rest on February 18, 2024 at her home with her husband of 66 years, Elwin, by her side. Besides her husband, Joan is survived by her son, David MacConnell; a brother, Spencer Delancey; a half sister, Diane Wallace; two brothers-in-law, Robert MacConnell and Joe MacConnell; three nephews, Gene (Karin) Delancey, Kenneth MacConnell, and Keith MacConnell; a great niece, Brittany (Travis) Turner. She was predeceased by her parents, David and Myrtle Delancey; by a brother, David Delancey; a half brother, John Delancey; and a brother-in-law, Donald MacConnell. Joan was a member of the First United Methodist Church, New Milford. She enjoyed cooking, Pepsi, and her afternoon Soap Operas. In her earlier years, she spent some time sewing. She was a dedicated wife to Elwin, a cat lover, and fed the birds outside her home. She is loved dearly and is deeply missed. At her request, the family will have a private celebration of her life. "Lois S. Carlsen, 85, of New Milford, PA passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on January 6, 2024. Lois was born on November 20, 1938 in Harford, PA, to Merle Miller and Vera Capron Miller. She graduated from Harford High School in 1956 and was employed by Magnetics, Prudential, and Columbia Mutual. She also provided in-home health care. Lois shared 47 years of marriage with Carl “Bill” Carlsen, who predeceased her in 2007. They loved to travel and went to Florida every chance they got to spend their winters in the sunshine. Bowling, card games, music, and dancing were some of their favorite pastimes. Lois enjoyed game shows and seldom tolerated any interruption of a Perry Mason episode. She was fond of her kitty “Tigger” and enjoyed watching the birds come to her feeders. Lois will always be remembered for her smile and quick wit, but most of all, she will be remembered for her strength which was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. In addition to her parents and husband, Lois was predeceased by her special friend Bill Estabrook and her brother Olin “Bub” Miller. She is survived by her children Jack (Nita) Carlsen of Hallstead, PA, Julie (Eric) Zurn of Hallstead PA, Janet (Bill) Evans of Zebulon, NC, and William (Kelly) Carlsen of New Milford, PA; siblings Irene (Arne) Anderson, Jeannie (Roger) Ditch, Alvin (Linda) Miller, and Doris (George) Spedding; grandchildren, Joslynn (Paul) Jones, Cody (Jessica) Zurn, Carl (Emily) Zurn, Ian (Gracie) Hodges, Briana Hollenbeck (Jason), and Seth Carlsen; great-grandchildren Brett, Abralyn, Eric, Annalise, Dana, Ava, Tim, and Trudy. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Maureen, Fallon, Judy, and Jessica along with the staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their compassionate care. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, New Milford, PA with Pastor Sam Brush. Friends may call from 11-1 at the church, prior to the service. George is survived by his mother, Patricia Stephens; his cherished son, Jesse Stephens; two step daughters, Cassidy Walters and Nellyna Walters; his newest joy, a granddaughter, Billie Terpstra; three sisters, Lori (Douglas) Hoffman, Sharon Smith, and Diane (John) Marshman; a brother, Paul (Tracie) Stephens; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Don Page. George was a very hard worker, a truck driver, a stone quarryman, and heavy equipment operator. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed pizza. George had a great sense of humor, was generous with his skills, and had a heart of gold. George's favorite part of life was attending all his son's activities and sporting events. "R. GARY MILLARD R. Gary Millard, 68, of New Milford, PA was reunited with his son, Timothy, in Heaven on December 2, 2023. Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Judith; his children, Ryan (Amie) Millard, Misty (Frank) Susavage, Adam (Ashley) Millard, Rachel Millard and Eric, Jillian Millard, and Alexandrea Millard and Cameron; 20 grandchildren; and a great grandchild; sisters, Marcia Kutz and Joyce (Bill) Moser; a brother, William Millard; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was predeceased by his brother, Charles Millard; his niece, Bethany Millard. Gary was a graduate of Mountain View High School, class of 1972, growing up in Harford. He earned an Associates Degree in Aviation Mechanics. Gary, along with his wife, owned and operated Millard's Deli in Lakeside for five years. He was a tool and dye maker for General Dynamics Land Systems, Eynon, PA until he retired in 2021. He enjoyed playing pool, watching the NY Giants and the Phillies play, and is infamous for his chicken bar-b-que. Gary was a social member of the V. F. W. in Lenox Post # 8488. He was respected by everyone, easily made friends, and was known for his open door, welcoming anyone who needed him. He was selfless when it came to his family. He took great pleasure in raising his children, and especially watching his grandchildren's activities and events. His love for his wife was evident daily in the care and concern he showed. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p. m. , Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Inc. , Hallstead, PA. Friends may call from 3-7 p. m. prior to the service. Chris had a unique sense of humor and a generous spirit, showing kindness and love to everyone he encountered. He and Terry were honored to have 58 loved foster children in their home over the years. Family was a priority to him throughout his life. Always orchestrating visits with his parents, siblings, children and later on his pride and joy, his grandchildren. Chris held a special place in our family and leaves behind wonderful memories. The family will greet friends on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Inc. from 3-6 p. m. Throughout his life Chris needed several blood transfusions.
