"Bill Wells passed into eternity on December 2, 2023, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, surrounded by family and friends. He was born on July 6, 1939, in Carbondale, Pennsylvania. He was the only child of George and Kathryn Wells. He graduated from Forest City High School in 1957 and Penn State University in 1963. On June 16, 1962, Bill married Florence Lucas, his wife of 61 years. Bill and Florence settled in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1972. He was a founding member of Victory Christian Center, where he served in several capacities for many years. Pastor Billy Joe Daugherty once called him the "stay-by-the-stuff guy," because of his integrity, dependability, and sound advice. Bill especially enjoyed working on ministry projects such as Camp Victory, the Tulsa Dream Center, and construction of Victory's current facilities. Bill enjoyed a 12 -year career with Aetna Life and Casualty, as well as 42-years as a State Farm Insurance agent, retiring in 2020. While he dabbled in old cars, an interest he picked up working in his father's auto shop, his favorite pastime by far was spending time with his family, either on vacations to Branson, Missouri, with his children and grandchildren, excursions to the NASCAR track with David or visiting his far-flung sons Glen and Mark living in Africa and Latin America. He especially loved his annual excursions with Florence and family to Aruba, where they found friendships with people from all over the United States. Bill could be found most mornings, long before the sun came up, reading his Bible and praying. His love for God's word led him to a lifelong association with The Gideons International since 1980, during which he held offices in local camps and including president of the Oklahoma Gideons. At all times, Bill bestowed generosity and love to those he encountered. He was preceded in death by his father, George Eldon Wells, and mother, Kathryn Jane Wells (nee Wells).
