He proudly served his country as a crew chief on the Blackhawk helicopter in the U. S. Army from 1990 to 1998. Grubbs, Anna Lou "Annie", age 68, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington, OH. She was the widow of Morris D Grubbs. Survived by her loving partner & spouse, William Meents, whom she shared 30+ wonderful years with. Born in Cincinnati, OH, she was the daughter of Andrew and Myrtle Walters. She had 4 sisters and 2 brothers. She was a member of the Jimmy Swaggart Church, where she worshipped with all her heart. Annie loved collecting antiques and thrift shopping. She also enjoyed getting pampered and tending to her flowers. Most of all, Annie’s best days were spent with her family as a beloved partner, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She is survived by her daughter; Angelia Covington, her two sons; Daniel Grubbs and Brian Grubbs, her grandchildren; Danny Bruce, Alex Grubbs, Dustin Bruce, Dylan Grubbs, Jack Grubbs, and Karrie Grubbs, and her great-grandson; Jaxton Brown.Visitation will be held at Vorhis & Ryan Funeral Home, 11365 Springfield Pk., Springdale, OH 45246 on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, from 10am until time of service at 12noon. Nancy Anne Philp, age 92, of Wilmington, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Ohio Living Cape May in Wilmington. She was born April 29, 1931 in Akron, OH, daughter of the late L. Richard and Francis Cobb Taylor. She was a member of Presbyterian Church of Wilmington. Nancy will be remembered for the love she had for her family, her church, children and education as demonstrated by her tutoring children at Holmes Elementary. She was also an avid fan of The Ohio State Football team. Surviving are son, John R. (Deborah) Philp of Wilmington, daughter, Holly A. (Kris) King of Cincinnati, granddaughter, Kathren R. (Seth Cunningham) Philp of Wilmington, sister, Judy (Norman) Greene, numerous nieces & nephews, special friends, Jane Chafin and Yvonne Hayes. In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, John Mathieson Philp. A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2024 at the Presbyterian Church of Wilmington with Sarah Maus officiating. Alicejean "Sherry" Thomson, Age 102, of Wilmington, Ohio, passed away, late Wednesday night, February 21, 2024 at the Cape May Retirement Community in Wilmington. She was born October 17, 1921 in Akron, Ohio, daughter of the late William Burt & Thelma Ruth (Poling) Shreve. Sherry acquired her bachelors degree in journalism from the University of Michigan, she was a member of the AAUW, the Presbyterian Church of Wilmington, a long time member of the Forest Hill Presbyterian Church in Cleveland, and numerous book clubs where ever she lived. Surviving are son, Rod (Barbara) Thomson of Middletown, OH, son, Bruce Thomson of Xenia, OH, daughter, Ruth Chesnut of Wilmington, OH, grandson, Ryan (Susie) Chesnut of Columbus, OH, granddaughter, Caitlin (Tony) Falk of Columbus, OH, grandson, Kyle (Katie) Chesnut of Columbus, OH, grandson, Andrew (Aurora) Thomson, Vandalia, OH; and 4 great-grandchildren. She was born March 28, 1945 in Martinsville, OH, daughter of the late Lawrence Whiting and Ethel Mae Morris Whiting. Marilyn worked as an administrative assistant for Airborne Express. Marilyn graduated from the Martinsville High School in 1963, the best and last class to graduate from there. She was the best "Grockie" ever to her grandchildren.. Surviving are daughter, Sherry (Keith) Barrett, son, Steven Leigh, grandson, Brad Dunn, granddaughter, Jessica Dunn, granddaughter, Graceyn Leigh and great-grandchildren, Ella & Elias. In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by sisters, Viola Hartman and Wyoma Taylor, brothers, James F. Whiting, Donald H. Whiting, Roger Whiting and a nephew, Arthur Hartman. Larrick reached the Celestial City after his earthly journey of 95 years on February 16, 2024.Mr. Larrick was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a respected co-worker, coach, friend to many, and a longtime resident of Clinton County, Ohio.He is survived by his wife of 77 years Ann Florea Larrick, a daughter Lynda C. Larrick (Wilmington, Ohio), and two sons Dana M. Larrick (Wilmington, Ohio) and Monte M. Larrick (Bolingbrook, Illinois.)In addition, Mr. Larrick is survived by his daughter-in-law, Miriam E. Larrick, and Lynda C. Larrick's fiancé Dr. David Brown.He is also survived by two granddaughters Mrs. Robert Holcombe (Camielle L.) (Romeoville, Illinois) and Carleigh G. Larrick (Chico, California), as well as two great-grandsons Elijah J. Holcombe and James I. Holcombe (Romeoville, Illinois) Mr. Larrick is preceded in death by a grandson, Jordan G. Larrick.He is further survived by his nephew Kenneth H. Larrick (Blanchester, Ohio), eight other nephews, and one niece.Carl Ausburn Richard Larrick was the last survivor of Clifford and Lavona Larrick's eleven children.Mr. Larrick was employed by Cincinnati Milacron in Oakley for 27 years. During his 24 years of employment at the National Bank and Trust in Wilmington, he was the recipient of the company's National Champion and Excellence awards.Mr. Larrick was a 1946 graduate of Jefferson High School in Midland, Ohio where he was a star basketball player.He pitched and played shortstop in the Southwest Ohio League. and was scouted by the Cincinnati Reds and St. Louis Cardinals.Mr. Larrick coached youth baseball in Clarksville, Ohio.As a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Blanchester, Mr. Larrick served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and church bus driver. He also played for and coached the First Baptist Men's softball team, the women's softball team, and the men's basketball team.A graveside service will be held at noon Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Westboro IOOF Cemetery followed by a 1:00 pm memorial service at First Baptist Church Blanchester. Peyton Davidson Reed, Jr., age 80, of Wilmington, passed away Sunday February 18, 2024 at Ohio Living Cape May. Peyton was born April 25, 1943 in Columbia, South Carolina, the son of the late Reverend Peyton D. and Mary Anne (Coughlin) Reed. He had served his Country during the Vietnam War in the United States Army Corps of Engineers and later was self-employed in the information technology field as a computer systems engineer. Peyton was involved in several organizations through the years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #49 of Wilmington, the Catholic War Veterans, the Ohio Valley Woodturners Guild, as well as, being a member of the St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Wilmington. He was married November 26, 1966 in Cincinnati, Ohio, to his loving wife, Mary Louise (Brown) Reed who survives. Also surviving are his children, Peter (Denise) Reed and Karen (James) Oehler; grandchildren, Jonah and Emma Reed; and sister, Margaret (Frank) Jones. In addition to his parents, Peyton is preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Voss. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 22, 2024 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church, Wilmington. Father Bernard Wedishofer will be the Celebrant. Burial will follow immediately at Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wilmington, with military honors being accorded by the American Legion Post #49 of Wilmington. Eloise Lynch Sabin, age 97, of Wilmington, Ohio passed on Sunday morning, February 18, 2024 Eloise was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Sabin. They loved and supported each other on their farm until Gordon's passing in 2011. After her mother's early death, Eloise and her brother Donald Lynch were raised by their grandparents, G.W. & Addie Hewitt. Eloise was always grateful for the care and guidance provided by Addie and G.W. Eloise's brother, Donald, preceded her in death; and, was mourned by Eloise for the remainder of her life. Eloise belonged to the Eastern Star. She was an accomplished pianist and bridge player. Eloise was also an avid reader. She enjoyed working at the Wilmington Public Library. Eloise was active in various activities including serving as leader of 4-H clubs. She attended Dover Friends Meeting House and also taught summer Bible camp. Eloise later became a member of the Wilmington Methodist Church. Her family-oriented specialties were providing after-school home-baked cookies for her children. She managed to find time for frequent walks through the woods during which she identified wildflowers for her daughters and son. Eloise tragically lost both her son, Gary Sabin, age 25 and grandson, David Brann, age 32. She is survived by daughters Jennifer Sabin of South Carolina and Rebecca Sabin of Maineville, Ohio, as well as two grandsons, Erik and Gregory both of Ohio. Eloise is also survived by various Lynch, Hewitt, and Sabin family members. As per her wishes, a private memorial service will be held for close family members. Burial will be at Sugar Grove Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, son, and grandson. Martha Elizabeth Howard Parcells was born on April 7th, 1923 in Irvine, Ky to McVey and Lina Howard, the 3rd of 7 children and passed away at 10 Wilmington Place on February 4, 2024. She met her husband, Donald Leroy, while working in Dayton, OH and they were married July 5, 1947. They had celebrated 67 years of marriage when Don passed away in 2014. Martha worked for many years as an accountant for William Gans, CPA. Friends and family celebrated Martha’s 100th birthday on April 7th, 2023. Those of us who remain will miss her greatly: a brother, William Howard and his wife, Alberta of Berea, Ky; two sons: David C (Kathy) of Kettering and William D. (Monika) of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren: Jeremy (Cari) Parcells of Arlington, TX, Michael (Heidi) of Ostrander, OH, Susan (Tyler) Doerman of Beavercreek, Karina Parcells of Dallas, TX, and Ruby Parcells of Atlanta, GA. Martha also was blessed with six great-grandchildren: Hudson and Ronan, Miles, Maiya and Elise, and Audrey. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at 10 Wilmington Place who took excellent care of Martha and really loved her. We also wish to thank Hospice of Dayton who more recently was involved with her care and helped smooth the transition from this life to the next, which we believe is with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Jeanne B. Staten, age 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 23, 2024, at her home in Wilmington, Ohio. Jeanne was born April 18, 1938, to Charley and Zola Mae (Hall) Barnes in Hillsboro, Ohio. She was a devout Christian and was saved on February 6, 1972. Most recently she called Calvary Bible Baptist in Marion, Ohio her home church. In high school at Lynchburg, Ohio, she was a cheerleader and also played the baritone horn in the marching band. Jeanne loved tending to her garden and canned the vegetables she grew. She loved boating and water skiing, spending lots of time on the water with her favorite spot being Lake Cumberland, Kentucky. Jeanne loved playing cards with her children and grandchildren. Her favorites being Euchre and Uno. She also enjoyed playing Canasta and Bridge with her friends. She always had a smile on her face and never met a stranger, she was always joking around and laughing as she always believed laughter was the best medicine. Most of all, she loved to cook for all her family and friends, and they loved the meals she prepared. She loved to sing and participated in the church choir and also sang with the "Sweet Adelines" in both Ohio and Maryland. Jeanne had retired from Lennox Industries in Columbus, Ohio, in 1996. She is survived by her six children, Nial Wilkin of Grove City, Ohio, Jeralynn Wilkin of Lady Lake, Florida, Michael (Melody) Wilkin of Lynchburg, Ohio, Mark (Carrie) Wilkin of Lynchburg, Ohio, Scott Wilkin of Lynchburg, Ohio, and Dodi (Eric) Wright of Palmetto, Florida; sisters, Louise Weller of Valley Park, Missouri and Maxine (Maurice) Shady of Greenville, North Carolina; brother, Arthur Lee White of Bakersfield, California; 15 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her mom and dad along with her beloved husband of 27 years, David Staten; and three sisters, Cristine Shea, Ida Allbright and Chloe Garrison. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Brown Funeral Home, Wilmington. Burial will follow at Roads Cemetery in Rainsboro, Ohio.
