Obituary of Chong Baker Chong S. Baker, 84, of Pleasant Street, Keeseville, died on Saturday, February 16, 2019, at the UVM Health Network, CVPH, Plattsburgh. She was born in Kyongnam-do, Korea, on July 3, 1934, the daughter of Yi Song Gun and Yi War Chul. Chong grew up in Daegu, Korea with several brothers and sisters. In her early adult life she worked as hostess at the US Army Garrison NCO club which is where she met Carlton. She moved to America discovering a large, loving family. She ran a concession stand at the VFW in Keeseville for many years along with Carlton. She was a member of a local Korean church. Chong was a major fan of the NY Yankees. Survivors include Step daughter Dawn Vassar and husband Richard, Daughter-in-law Aleta Baker Stannford and husband Mark, Step daughter Robin Damiani and husband Nick, Step son Robert Baker and wife Lourie, Step daughter Melody Baker, Step son Carlton Baker Jr., and Step daughter Autumn Jeske. She had many loving grand children and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Chong was predeceased by her husband, Carlton Baker, Moter-in-law Edith Laundree, Step son Lemuel "Bucky" Baker, Step son Dana Baker, and grand daughter Carrie Vassar. At Chong's request, there will be no public calling hours. Burial in the Harkness Cemetery will be in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Chong S. Baker may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 124 Clinton Street, Keeseville, 834-7667.
