Robert E. Mulcahey of Springfield was called into eternal rest on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at his home. He was born on January 3rd, 1930 to the late Robert and Teresa (MacDonald) Mulcahey in Boston, MA and predeceased by his loving wife of fifty-six years Jean Marie (Livi). Robert received his master's degree from AIC and worked for many years as a teacher at Kiley Middle School in Springfield. He was a faithful member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish for much of his life, teaching CCD and serving as a eucharistic minister and lecteur. Robert was an avid golfer and a member of the Gotcha Golf League at St. Anne's Country Club. He was also a lifetime member of both the Elks Lodge #61 and of the John Boyle O'Reilly Club. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carole Crawford. Robert will be forever missed by his son Robert B. Mulcahey and his wife, Cathy of Springfield; his brother, Donald Mulcahey and his wife Rita of Plymouth, MA; as well as his grandchildren Brian Mulcahey and his fiancee Nicole Blackwelder, Erin Mulcahey and her husband Jacob Jones, and Kevin Mulcahey. Robert also leaves a cherished great grandchild, Eliza Jean Mulcahey. Family and friends are invited to the Sampson Chapel of the Acres on Tinkham Rd in Springfield from 4 to 7 pm on Tuesday, April 23rd for a period of visitation. A liturgy of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, April 24th at 10am at St. Catherine of Siena Church. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Park Cemetery.
