Cheri L Collins, age 68 of Defiance, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Mercy Defiance Hospital She was born on December 27, 1954 to Fred and Mary Jane (Stuut) Ruess in Kalamazoo, Michigan On April 29, 2006 she married Kenneth Collins, who survives Cheri proudly earned her Associate's Degree from Northwest State Community College, and was in the first graduating class of their Early Childhood Program She helped develop the Preschool Program at St John's United Church of Christ in Archbold, OH and worked as a Preschool teacher at Ann's Bright Beginnings Preschool & Daycare in Paulding, OH Cheri loved Defiance High School sports, and was an avid supporter of her grandchildren She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and friend to many Cheri is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth Collins of Defiance, her daughter, Jami (Jeremy) Coler of Defiance, her brother, Jack (Nancy) Ruess of Florida, and her grandchildren; Matthew, Madilyn and MaKendryk Coler In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Mach Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at the funeral home Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery Memorials are suggested to the family To to the family or in memory of Cheri L Collins, please

Janet M. Boyers, age 71 of Defiance, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Brookview Healthcare Center of Defiance. She was born on August 1, 1952 to the late Lester and Helen (Boff) Houck at Defiance. Jan was a 1970 graduate of Defiance High School. On January 31, 1975 she married her husband and best friend Tom Boyers. Jan was a faithful and devoted member of St. John's Catholic Church. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and cherished her time spent with her family. Her favorite pastime was sitting on her porch with her neighborhood friends. The sign on her porch read, "Welcome to my porch, where wasting time is considered time well wasted. " Jan is survived by her husband of 48 years Tom Boyers of Defiance, three sons; Jason (Mandy) Boyers of Sarasota, FL, T. J. (Jerri) Boyers of Defiance, and Matthew (Laura) Boyers of Lavonia, MI. She also leaves behind two grandchildren, Tyler and Trey Boyers of Defiance, her sister Jane Bowers of Antwerp, OH, many nieces and nephews, two sisters-in-law, Sue (Larry) Weiler and Holly (Ginny) Boyers, all of Wauseon, OH, her brother-in-law Joe (Donna) Boyers of Port Chester, NY, and her loving and faithful dog, Oliver. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Jerry Houck and Diane Manley, and two brothers-in-law, Dale Bowers and Donald Manley. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023 from 2:00 to 6:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, with a Vigil Service at 2:00 pm. . Albert Lloyd Tennyson, age 81, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at his home in Defiance. He was born on September 13, 1942 to Clifford and Mary (Minton) Tennyson in Middlesboro, Kentucky. Al found love and companionship with Cheryl Tuohy. They were devoted to each other for forty years and happily married for thirty years. Albert came to Ohio in 1963 to make a better life for his family. After high school graduation Al attended Defiance College. He was hired in at Zeller Corporation in April of 1963 as a drop forge hammer operator. Soon after, he became involved in the union being selected steward, committeeman and later shop chairman. In 1978 Al was hired with the International United Auto Worker's, representing Region 2-B in Northwest Ohio. He negotiated contracts for many union workers throughout NW Ohio. Shortly after his retirement from the UAW in 1998, he started selling cars for Indoor Auto Mart and then became sole owner in 2010. In addition to owning Indoor Auto Mart, Al invested in many businesses over his lifetime including Tennyson & Tennyson Trucking Co. with his father, and Tennyson Auto Sales with his brother. In his spare time Al was an avid pool player and a member of the Maumee Valley Pool Leagues. He was a car enthusiast who attended the Annual Auburn Car Auction in Indiana for many years. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren in their many school events. Albert is survived by his loving wife Cheryl Tennyson of Defiance, three daughters; Cindy (John) Stever of Englewood, FL, Trisha (Brad) Schlachter, and Kelly (Aaron) Hopson, all of Defiance, his grandchildren; Victoria Stever of Englewood, FL, Ethan (Haley) Schlachter of Findlay, OH, Logan (fiance Audree) Schlachter of Toledo, OH, Tyson Schlachter, Alex Hopson and Konnor Hopson, all of Defiance, Dhari Lantow and Davey (Chelsea) Lantow, all of Ft. Myers, FL, and four great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his stepmother, Pat Tennyson of Harrogate, TN, his sisters; Wilma (Charles) Rector of Harrogate, TN, Myrna Denny and Lana (Jesse) Hill, all of Bowling Green, KY, and Julie (Scott) Marcum of Paducah, KY, and his brother, Alfred (Lisa) Tennyson of Morristown, TN. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Victor Tuohy, mother-in-law, Marceile Tuohy, his son, Steve Lantow Jr. , and brother-in-law, Don Denny. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 27, 2023 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at 11:00 am at King's Cross Church, with Pastor Max Begley officiating. William "Bill" S. Piwarski passed away on Saturday November 11, 2023 surrounded by loved ones at CHP Hospice Center in Defiance, Ohio. Bill was born August 4, 1956 to Samuel and Elizabeth (Strunk) Piwarski in Saginaw, Michigan. He married in 1983 and had 2 children before divorcing in 2001. After high school Bill started working at General Motors which took him from Saginaw, to Grand Rapids, MI and eventually brought him to Defiance, OH. Bill worked at GM until his retirement after working for over 40 years in 2018. Bill worked a lot but always found time to enjoy the outdoors. He loved spending time in his garden and was happy to share his expertise with anyone who was interested in how he grew such amazing tomatoes. He would go fishing and hunting any chance he got and you could usually find him with a Miller High Life and a cigarette in his hand. If you showed up at the house he would feed you and make sure you had a High Life or a Pepsi in your hand too. Bill was a grill master and delighted in showing his love through food, especially a perfectly cooked steak marinated in Dale's. Bill was set in his ways but would help anyone who needed it. Those who knew him loved him. Bill leaves behind his 2 children, William Piwarski and Katie (Alex) Ball, his longtime partner and fiancee Becky Linebrink and their 2 dogs, Jack and Mildred. Bill is also survived by siblings Kathy (Randy) Westphal, David (Loretta) Piwarski, Michael Piwarski, and nieces, nephews and relatives he inherited as an honorary member of the Linebrink family. "Michael Lee Aschemeier, 69, of Defiance, Ohio passed away at CHP Defiance Inpatient Hospice on November 9, 2023. He was born in Napoleon, Ohio on January 15, 1954, to the late Harold and Helen (Rohrs) Aschemeier. Mike was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Napoleon Township. Mike was a lifelong farmer and truck driver, most recently for the Ridgeville Elevator. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and collecting toy John Deere tractors. Mike supported the 4H program as a Junior Fair Advisor and was instrumental in re-establishing the turkey project at the Henry County Fair. He loved to go to tractor pulls and competed in the Rymo lawn mower pulls. Mike is survived by his longtime loving companion, Judy Rosebrock; sons, Jonathon (Melissa) Aschemeier and Joe Aschemeier; grandchildren, Lydia, Myles, Owen, Chase, and Darren; and siblings, Linda (Dennis) Benien, Tim (Brenda) Aschemeier, and Dave Aschemeier; Judy's son, Arin (Christian) Rettig, and her grandchildren, Grasyn, Ivey, Layne, Drake, Drew, Dakota, and Sawyer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Jensen; and brothers, Jim Aschemeier, and Ken (Sue) Aschemeier.
