Blacksburg ---- Ms. Charlotte Workman, 54, of 206 E. Clairborne Street, Apt. 8B passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born in Charlotte, NC on June 4,1969, to the late Billy Workman and Beverly Mink Workman. Ms. Workman formerly worked as a cashier and a member of the Fear Farm fright team, and was a member of Iron City Church of Blacksburg. She enjoyed being surrounded by her family and friends, loved the color green, loved sunflowers, and she loved her daughter most of all, along with her Fear Farm family. She was proud of that she was nominated as the best granny actor in world through her Fear Farm family. Surviving Ms. Workman, is a daughter, Kymberli Workman of Blacksburg, god daughter, Zora Hannah of Blacksburg, sisters, Brenda Decke-Workman of Blacksburg, Karen Marsillett of Florida, brother, Billy (Suzanne) Workman, of Blacksburg, best friend/sister, Susan Pollitt, of Blacksburg, numerous nieces and nephews, and her Fear Farm family. Ms. Workman was preceded in death by her parents. The family will receive friends on, Wednesday, September 13, 2023, from 2:00pm - 3:00pm at Gordon Mortuary , 400 W. Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, SC 29702, services will immediately follow in the chapel officiated by the Rev. Phillip Martin. The family will be at 206 E. Woodrow (Woodie) Phillip Porter 86, entered into rest Sunday, December 3, 2023. Born in Blacksburg, S. C. He was the son of late William Preston Porter and Vera Peeler Porter. He is survived by his daughter Julie Porter and grandson Zachary Carcelli of Las Vegas and sister Sarah Porter Zachary of Mt Pleasant, S. C. He was preceded in death by his son William (Billy) Porter, brothers Wilford Porter, Heyward Porter, Nesbitt Porter, and Hydrick Porter. Sisters Vera Mae Malone, Myrtis Bowen and Bobbie Brown. He was of Baptist faith, a graduate of Blacksburg High School and owner/operator of Carlson Electric Motor Service. Woodie was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base in 1956. He later worked at the Nevada Test Site before owning Carlson Electric Motor Service, where he felt privileged to serve the community for over 56 years. He was proud to be a Shriner, Elk, 32-degree Mason, a charter member and past director of the Las Vegas Jester court 181. He was an avid golfer and car enthusiast. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Broad River Baptist Church in Blacksburg. Officiating the service will be Chris Raines, David Hogue and Jerry Cobb. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery. Military rites will be observed. Family will receive friends after the service. Blacksburg-- Our beloved daddy, George Ronald Putman, age 86, met his Lord and Savior face-to-face on November 27, 2023, at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, NC. George was born on April 25, 1937, weighing in at 11 lbs, 14 oz. , the eighth of 11 children born to the late Hobert William and Nellie Dorman Putman. He loved his family and thoroughly enjoyed his time with them. Growing up, he was known for swimming in Dolittle Creek, switching the Blacksburg and Cowpens city limit signs, and driving fast. He was often known for being on the nose with the many stories he told. Daddy always wanted to be a blessing to others and leave them with a smile. He is preceded in death by brothers Paul, Frank, and Edward (late Allie) and sisters Louise and Vinnie (Late Ed). He is survived by brother Charles Putman (late Beverly) of Gaffney, SC, sister Ruby Starnes (late Bill) of Blacksburg, sister Martha McCraw (late Ken) of Inman, SC, sister Carolyn Stacy (late Terry) of Blacksburg, SC, and brother Kenny (Betty Sue) Putman of Easley, SC. He had many nieces and nephews that he loved. George served his country well. He was an Assistant Army Chaplain, and while stationed at Fort Knox, KT, no gold was stolen. He was Army-Strong! He was a Blacksburg Rural Mail Carrier for 46 years. He worked 33 years without taking a sick day and drove over 1 million miles without a preventable incident. He was a faithful member of Cherokee Falls Baptist Church and worked with the Handy Man Ministry. He loved his brothers and sisters in Christ and spent his retirement visiting and ministering to those in need. George, the world's best daddy and granddaddy, is survived by his son, Greg Putman of Gaffney, SC, and daughter, Renee Dyer, and son-in-law, Robin, of Shelby, NC. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Matthew Wray, and great-grandchild, Ember Wray. He is survived by three grandchildren, T. J. Wray (Abigail) of Forsyth, MO, Laura Sullins (Niles) of Black Mountain, NC, and Nathan Wray (Brittani) of Shelby, NC, and seven great-grandchildren, Eliza and Grady Wray, Adriel and Ariel Sullins, and Luke, Remy, and Matthew Wray. We would like to thank the kind and compassionate care of his Hospice nurses and staff, Joannie Mabry and Marie Bell, and the nurses and staff at Wendover Hospice House. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 1 from 5 pm to 7 pm at Gordon Mortuary, 400 West Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, SC. The service will be held at Cherokee Falls Baptist Church in Cherokee Falls, SC, on Saturday, December 2 at 2 pm with Rev. Tim Knotts officiating. The body will lie in state 30 minutes before the service. Interment will be at Clingman Memorial Gardens following the service. T. J. Wray, Nathan Wray, Niles Sullins, Mitchell Putman, Eric Stacy, and Dennis Jolly will serve as pallbearers. The Handyman Ministry will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. Blacksburg -- Harriett Lucille Hardin Falls, 80, of 827 Kings Creek Drive, passed away on Friday, November 24th, 2023, at her residence. Born in York County, SC, she was the widow of Glenn McGill "Wency" Falls and the daughter of the late Andrew and Loise Patterson Hardin. Harriet formerly worked in textiles and was a member of Canaan United Methodist Church. Surviving Mrs. Falls are her children, Sharon Hinson of Lugoff, Glenn Falls (Tina) of Smyrna, Rhonda Gibson of Blacksburg, Alan Falls of Smyrna, Jeff Falls (Nancy) , Bryan Falls (Robin) and Meek Falls, all of Blackburg; a special daughter, Mary Smith of Hickory Grove; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. In addition to her husband and her parents, Mrs. Falls was preceded in death by her two brothers, four sisters, and one grandchild. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary, 400 West Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, SC. Graveside services will be Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 11:00 am at Canaan United Methodist Church Cemetery, 4810 Canaan Church Road, Smyrna, SC with Rev. Ken Spauldin and Rev.
