Charlotte Fiser Obituary

Charlotte Dale Fiser was born on February 27, 1943 to Charley and Alice Dale in Hickory Ridge, AR and passed away at her home in Little Rock on September 7, 2023. Her childhood was simple, growing up on a farm in Fisher, AR, and always accompanied by her older sister Margaret. They made it a priority to explore nearly every state on adventurous road trips with her family. She was top of her class, a dominant competitor on the basketball court, and an avid water skier. She attended Hendrix College where she met Robert (Bob) Fiser her freshman year. He was so smitten by her charm, beauty, and intellect that he knew he had to act quickly before he started medical school the next year. They were married on August 19, 1962 (until his untimely death almost 50 years later) and moved to Little Rock where she finished her BA degree in Elementary Education at Little Rock University (UALR). During her time in Little Rock, she taught at Mabelvale Elementary. Once Bob graduated, they moved to Fort Detrick, Maryland, then El Paso, TX and finally Los Angeles, CA. It was there Charlotte and Bob started their family with two boys, their pride and joy. After Bob finished his training at UCLA, she was delighted that he accepted a position in the UAMS Department of Pediatrics so the country girl could be back home and closer to family to raise their young sons. They quickly became a dynamic team who enjoyed growing the pediatric department of Arkansas Children's Hospital. She spent countless years recruiting and volunteering with the ACH Auxiliary. They often hosted visiting faculty in their home with Charlotte hurrying to change the sheets in between a recruit and a visiting professor! She was blessed with the ability to make everyone feel welcome and at home. As a mother of two young children, she had already learned multitasking and set the bar high for future women rearing a family, supporting her husband's career, and finding time to pursue her own interests. She juggled hundreds of athletic events and ball games for her boys, as well as remained social and active in her competitive tennis league. After the boys were grown, Charlotte went back to her passion of teaching at Baker Elementary before retiring and becoming an antiques and collectibles treasure hunter. Charlotte had a creative, artistic knack for home decor and could always find a treasure in the hunt that she could turn into a feature item at her antique booth. Charlotte was the true North of the family, a steadfast rock with a level head and a compassionate heart. Her family, church and friends were the most important things in her life and where she invested her time and energy. Her selfless soul, warm heart and compassion for people enabled her to be the ultimate caregiver for the special people in her life. Without ever complaining, she did this with grace, humility, dignity, and unconditional love. The only thing better than being ''Mom'' was being ''Char Char'' to her 5 grandchildren, who she adored and cherished as the true treasures of her life. Charlotte was a longtime member of Saint James UMC where she enjoyed her Sunday School class, Bible Study and other activities. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and brother-in-law Calvin Wilkins. She is survived by her children, Robb Fiser of Sugar Land, Texas and Chuck Fiser (Anita) of Little Rock and grandchildren, Lilly and Hill Fiser of Texas and Avery, Charlie, Andrew Fiser of Little Rock; her sister, Margaret Wilkins and nephews, Dale, Thomas and Louis Wilkins, as well as brother-in-law, Paul Fiser (Gayle). The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 12 from 5-7 pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 13 at 10 am. Both will be held at St. James United Methodist Church, 321 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock.
