A lifelong resident of the Hartford area, James was born into the loving arms of his late parents, Jim and Anne Amenta, September 1, 1953. James held a long career as a renowned hair stylist, known for his unparalleled skill and creativity. His career allowed him to touch the lives of people across the country with his artistic vision and genuine passion for beauty. He was a brother, a father, and a friend to many. James was passionate about his Catholic faith, impacting many community members with his time as a CCD educator at Saint Mary’s Church in Newington. Honoring James and remembering his love are his daughter, Nicole Amenta; son, James Amenta (Ashleigh Lovelace); grandson, Henryk Lovelace Amenta; sister, Marylou Amenta (Stacey Trichka); and nephew, Isaac Trichka. Roderick L. “Rod“ Boudreau, 61, of East Hartford, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, February 9, 2024. Son of the late Emery J. Boudreau, Rod grew up in Sunset Hills and attended East Hartford High School where he made many longtime friendship bonds that continue to this day. In his early years of employment, he was known as DJ Roddy Rock. Rod loved music and concerts. No distance was too far to see his favorite bands. Later, he was a member of the Laborers Union and the Carpenters Union 326, Local 43 and at present day worked for Reno Storage & Repairs LLC in East Hartford. Rod loved watching his favorite sports teams. He was a loyal fan of the Chicago Black Hawks, the Kansas City Chiefs and an avid Boston Red Sox fan. He loved playing golf with his friends and the excitement of skiing the expert slopes of many mountains, especially Killington, VT. His laugh was contagious and resonates with all of us. He is survived by his mother Alta Boudreau and his two children Jacqueline, 21, and Dylan,19, and his children’s mother Amy. He is also survived by his brothers Conrad (Christine), and Jules (Peggy), and his sisters Denise and Charlotte (Bob). Also, nephews Brian and Austin, and nieces, Amelia “Lia” and Nicole, and three great nieces, Paige, Alyssa and Ava. Services to celebrate Rod’s life will be held on March 1, 2024 from 4 – 7 pm at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a remembrance service starting at the conclusion of calling hours. Carol Ulitsch Noiva, 90, of East Hartford, loving wife for 64 years of Firmo (Ray) Noiva, passed away peacefully on Wednesday (February 14, 2024) with her family by her side. Born on October 29, 1933 in Hartford, the daughter of George and May Ulitsch. She grew up in Hartford and graduated from Hartford Public High School in 1951. Carol and her beloved husband Ray raised their family in East Hartford. She was a devoted Catholic and active member of Our Lady of Peace Church and St. Christopher Church in East Hartford, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She lived her faith by sharing with those less fortunate, including fostering a blind Ogalala Sioux boy so he could attend school. Carol loved cooking and entertaining, hosting Sunday dinners for generations of family as they gathered around to share great food and memories. Everyone looked forward to her Christmas Eve parties, spaghetti dinners, and Sunday pot roast. In the morning, she loved to listen to the Bob Steele radio show. In more recent years, Carol enjoyed her morning cup of coffee watching MSNBC and the ten o’clock mass. After dinner, Carol loved to enjoy her decaf coffee with something sweet as she watched Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune with her family. Carol lived the life she desired by being a dedicated and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She adored her five children, ten grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. Carol embodied the best qualities a human being could ever have: unconditional love, generosity, and a strong, fierce spirit. Carol is survived by her children, Susan (Randy) Hamilton, Dr. Robert (Nancy) Noiva, Jeffrey (Connie) Noiva, Janice (Mike) Walsh, and Elizabeth (Dave) Sheehan. Grandchildren, Sara (Chris) Wethje, Greg (Amelia) Hamilton, Dr. Karen Noiva, Eric Noiva, Jennifer (Camerin) Hahn, Trevon (Katharine) Noiva and Kyle Noiva, Erin (Anthony) LaRussa, Shannon (Christian) Caballero, and Nick Pezzente. She was Great Grammy to eight grandchildren. Carol is also survived by many other cherished friends and relatives, including her dear sister-in-law Estella Martins. Family and friends may call on Saturday, February 17th between 9:00-10:00am at the D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel at 30 Carter St., East Hartford. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin on Saturday, February 17th at 10:30am at the Our Lady of Peace of St. Edmund Campion Parish, 370 May Rd., East Hartford. Joyce (Zoe) Marie Samiotis of East Hartford, CT passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. She was born in Hartford, CT on October 3, 1937, the daughter of the late Mary Moren and Frank Chogouord. She is survived by her beloved husband Panagiotis (Peter) Samiotis of 57 years, her brother Peter Anselmo and his wife Jeanne, her nieces Alice Anselmo, Blanche Jeffries and Marie Rossi along with their children. Joyce will long be remembered for her deep love of faith and family. A lifelong parishioner of the St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Hartford and a benefactor of the church, she was always responsive to the needs of her parish and to those of others in a quiet and unassuming way. Often the first to be present at Sunday services, she could always be heard quietly singing and reciting the words of the Divine Liturgy both in Greek and in English. Her love of family knew no bounds, as she always believed she had been blessed with having two, one in America that was given her at birth, and the other in Greece acquired through marriage, which she loved as her own and now leaves behind. Joyce had a lasting interest in business and finance and was the Vice President at First Federal Savings and Loan of East Hartford for 26 years. She also served on the Riverpoint Association Board of Directors. Together with her beloved husband, Peter, she led a life of purpose and meaning both at home and abroad. She will be long remembered by the many persons whose lives she touched. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at St George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 433 Fairfield Avenue, Hartford with visiting hours beginning at 9:30 am and the Trisagion and Funeral service to follow at 11:00 am. Joan Tomany, 85, of East Hartford, CT, passed away on February 13, 2024. Born on March 23, 1938, in Bath, Maine, Joan was the daughter of Antonio Pouliot and Adelia Pouliot (Rouillard). She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Tomany, as well as her grandson, Patrick Tomany, and her siblings Muriel Mehlhorn, Roland Pouliot, Ivan Pouliot, and Everett Pouliot. Joan was a dedicated teacher who began her career on Deer Isle, ME, before moving to Fitch Middle School in Groton, CT, and ultimately finishing at Bloomfield High School in Bloomfield, CT. In addition to her career in education, Joan also worked as a security guard at Manchester Community Technical College for approximately 10 years. Joan had a vibrant personality and a great sense of humor. She was known for her quick wit and infectious laugh, as well as her ability to bring joy to those around her. She had a love for golf and cards, often enjoying friendly games with her girlfriends. Joan was an avid reader and had a passion for bird watching. Family was of utmost importance to Joan. She cherished her time spent with her extended family in Maine and formed lasting memories while vacationing across the country with her children. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, creating cherished moments together, and of course, she loved her granddog, Razzy. Joan is survived by her son Sean Tomany, daughter-in-law Jodi Tomany, and grandson Matthew Tomany of Glastonbury, CT. She is also survived by her daughter Karen Searle, son-in-law Trevor Searle, and grandson Aiden Searle of Rehoboth, MA. Joan is further survived by her sisters Loretta Ezell of Huntsville, AL and Madeline Beaudreau of Bath, ME, as well as many nieces and nephews. Joan will be dearly missed by her family and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her love, laughter, and kind spirit will forever be remembered. May she rest in peace. Seraphine (Sally) V. Pelletier died on Tuesday February 6, 2024 while surrounded by her family. Sally was 88 years old. Sally was born at Staten Island Hospital, in New York City. Sally attended Harford High School, Hartford College for Women followed by graduation from University of Connecticut in Storrs. Roger’s sister; Anita Pelletier was a friend of Sally’s at Hartford College and introduced Roger to Sally. After dating they were married in 1957 at the St Lawrence O'Toole Roman Catholic Church in Hartford, CT. Roger and Sally were married for 61 years and resided the entire time in their East Hartford home. While raising three children Sally worked full time at Travelers, Aetna and then the Hartford insurance group as a computer programmer. Sally retired in 2000. Following retirement, she volunteered at Hartford Hospital. Both Roger and Sally were parishioners at the St. Isaac Jogues Church for 50 years of which they were Eucharistic Ministers for 35 years. They received the Saint Joseph Archdiocesan Medal of Appreciation on April 17, 2016 for their years of service as Eucharistic Ministers. Sally also served as a lector in the church at the daily Mass and Sundays. Sally is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Luke and Lori Pelletier of Monson, MA. Her son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Nancy Pelletier of Manchester, CT. Her daughter and son-in-law Paula and Tom Stack of Clinton, CT. Her six grandchildren; Grace Pelletier, Luke Pelletier Jr. and his wife Nessa, Sophia Pelletier, Julia Pelletier, Sara Stack and Abigayle Stack. She is preceded in death by Roger in May of 2018 and her sister, Maryanne Heacox. Her family would like to thank South Cross Inc and Visiting Nurse & Health Services of Connecticut for excellent care provided during Sally’s time of need.
