He will always be remembered as Jack by his parents, siblings, and school friends. As a professional, he will be remembered as Charley's Construction. To all, he was well known as Catfish Charley for his passion of fishing at Hulah Lake and Copan Lake. No one could or will ever forget his impressive fish fries at Johnstone Park! Charley loved to tinker on projects for loved ones, build rocking horses and chairs for the little ones, and continued mowing the lawn until the lawn mower mysteriously took a plunge. His smile was contagious to all and his hugs sincere. He will be truly missed by all who were blessed to know him. "Barbara Uhl Thompson passed away on November 25, 2023 at the Journey Home after a brief illness. She was born in Bartlesville on December 11, 1935, to Rondal D. and Thelma Irene Uhl. She graduated from College High School in Bartlesville in 1952 with an excellent academic record and shortly after married the handsome and sweet Ronald L. Thompson. Her three girls, Kathi Louann Littmann, Denise Lynn White, and Michelle Elizabeth Rigdon were the joy of her life. She was an avid seamstress and homemaker, stretching her skills to see how many yards of lace she could get on her daughter's dresses. Her happiest times were when she worked with the parent teacher organizations, brownie scout troops, and family gatherings. She supported her husband's dream of owning his own masonry and building business by taking care of the business side of his work. In 1969, when her youngest was around 10 years old, she decided to go back to school. She attended Tri County Tech and completed her certificate in computer programming in a class full of men. With three rowdy girls and often their friends in the house, she found the only place to study was in the car! She continued to provide support to her husband's business while managing the active lives of her three daughters and working full time. She retired from her position as computer support specialist at Tri County Tech in 1998 to help take care of her ailing parents and husband. Always wanting to set an example for her daughters and her grandchildren, she returned to college and received her associate degree from Coffeyville Community College. Her intention was to finish her bachelor's degree, but babysitting for great grandkids and being the matriarch of her family took her focus. She loved the Miramar Air Show, road trips, Branson Missouri, fishing in Minnesota, any kind of art, random experiences with her family, and Shoji Tabuchi, Patsy Cline, and Three Dog Night. Little Eddie Money, her beloved Maltese, was her partner in crime for many, many years. She has volunteered at Jane Phillips Medical Center, the Bartlesville Art Association, and a multitude of events for her kids and grandkids. She was always ready to throw together a party dress, a costume, or even a wedding dress when the need arose. Barbara was a loving daughter, sister, wife, grandma, and friend but above all was the best mom anyone could have had. Barbara's extended family included 9 grandkids & their spouses, 10 great-grandkids, and many friends who were "found family" in her circle of love. She will be greatly missed. Loved ones who passed before her: Her parents Rondal and Thelma Uhl, her husband Ronald L. Thompson, both of her brothers Rondal Jr and Ray Uhl, her daughter Denise White, and one great-grandchild. Plans for her celebration of life are being finalized. The family asks that in lieu of flowers any memorial donations be made to The Journey Home, where Barbara received loving kind support in her final journey. "Show more

Donna Pyles

Age - 85

"Donna Sue Pyles Coe, 85, passed unexpectedly at St. John's Hospital November 22, 2023 in Tulsa, OK. She was born in Bartlesville, OK on October 24th, 1938 to Henry "Merle" Grooms and Cora Elizabeth (Fields) Grooms, and lived there most of her life. Going all through school in Bartlesville, she graduated high school in 1956. She then attended Central States Teachers College in Edmond, OK. At that time, she met a young man named Donald Pyles on a blind date. They were married in December 1957, as Don had been accepted in Officer's Candidate School in the Marine Corps. They were stationed in Quantico, Virginia for Don to go through OC school, and graduated as 2nd Lt. They then received orders to Okinawa for 15 months. The Marine Corps did not allow dependents to go overseas, so she came back to Bartlesville to live and work. After Okinawa, their orders were to Camp Pentleton, CA, and Donna lived there on base for one and a half years. After that tour, they decided to get out of active duty. Don stayed in the Marine Corps Reserve unit for over 20 years, and retired as Major. Their son, Ronald Don was born January 4th, 1961 with spinal bifida. Tragically, he died two short months later with complications. They made their home in Bartlesville from that time forward. In January 1985 a precious baby girl was born, and God decided they needed this child in their lives. They adopted her as their granddaughter and were in her life until their deaths. Donna retired from the United State Postal Service with a GS Civil Service Rating. She retired as the Postmaster's Administrative Assistant with 35 years of service. In retirement, she enjoyed volunteering for different organizations. Her passion was volunteering at Jane Phillips Medical Center. She worked there many years, and was the Volunteer Manager of the Gift Shop as well as Past President of the Volunteer Auxiliary for two different terms. Her final years volunteering at the hospital were spent at the Information Desk, which she very much enjoyed. She was honored to be included in the local Chapter CH, and thoroughly enjoyed knowing and being with each PEO sister. It was a wonderful experience, and something she always treasured. Being so active through the years, it is difficult to credit all the clubs and activities which impacted her life. These include, but are not limited to, Jaycee-ettes, Two-Steppers line dancing, and being a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. She also enjoyed her bridge groups and Friday night dinner group. As an animal lover, she was devoted to her various pets in years passed. Donna was famous within her family and friends for her delicious brownies, candies, and assorted baked goods. As a result of a long friendship, and after Don's passing, Donna and Darrell Coe's friendship blossomed into a second love for them both. They were married on July 30th, 2021 at East Cross Church in Bartlesville. In their short time together, they enjoyed trips to Branson, attending concerts to see the Gaithers, and various activities through the church. She was proceeded in death by her parents; infant son, Ronald Don; husband, Don Pyles; brothers, Olin Merle Grooms and Bobby Joe Grooms; and sister, Wanda Lou Baldwin. She is survived by her husband, Darrell Coe; granddaughter, Jenny Beth Jones; sisters-in-law, Margaret Grooms and Lyn Grooms; three nephews, Greg Grooms, Doug Grooms, and Brett Grooms; two nieces, Cindy Grooms Rieck and Rhonda Grooms Armstead; and three cousins. A graveside service open to everyone will be held Wednesday, November 29th at 2:00pm at Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville. For those who would like to sign the book and view a collection of photos, Stumpff funeral home will have a room set up for her Tuesday, November 28th from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Bill Hardie

Bill Hardie

Age - 90

October 31, 2023

"Grandpa Bill Hardie was born on June 30, 1933 to Ralph and Beaula Hardie in Sperry, Oklahoma. He went to his heavenly home on October 28 2023 at the age of 90 years old. His given name is actually Earnest Albert Hardie. But his Grandma called him Billy because he loved playing with the Billy goats! So Billy/Bill just stuck. He began school at Cherokee Elementary in Turley, but because he was a military brat he traveled to many different schools. He finally landed in Chase, Kansas, and completed his education at Chase High School, where he played football and built props for the school plays and proms. In case you didn't know, Bill was quite a collector, of everything. In his collection was a News paper article titled: "Bill Hardie---He's busy. Here is how the article spoke of Bill. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" is the motto by which he tries mold his life his life. We think this is the main reason he is always available when something requires repairs, a stage manager is needed, or any other thing has to be done. Although he hasn't much spare time (he's working at school from 6 to 6) he manages to keep a thriving pencil collection. His first, and 80 year old lead pencil, was obtained about 10 years ago. This spurred him on and since then he has collected some 250 pencils and mechanical pencils, most of which bear advertising. And interesting fact is , no 2 are alike. When asked what guided his every day life, Bill answered, I like to help others in everyway I can. " Bill was very involved in his church activities, and summer church camps were an important part of his life. In one particular summer, he traveled to Wilberton, Oklahoma for camp. While there he met the love of his life, Betty Crumrine. She was at the camp as a guest of her best friend, Darlene Basse Westmoland. He was 16, she was 13 but he knew he had found the girl of his dreams. For the next 3 years he would hitchhike from Chase, Kansas, 272 miles, to Sperry to visit Betty. After graduation his mom and dad dropped him off at Ward Rumsey's home, where he lived in their little garage apartment. Then, on October 3, 1952 he married his one and only girlfriend, Betty. Not long after he and Betty were married he secured a job with Otasco. He spent the next 37 years as a warehouseman, which eventually led to a supervisor position for the After Otasco closed their doors, he found employment with Tulsa Public Schools and then drove a bus for Skiatook Public Schools. The young couple settled in Sperry, and added their 3 children, Annis, Alane and Arthur to complete their family. They always made sure their kids were in church, (every time the doors were open), and that they attended church camp. As the kids grew older, Bill and his friend Howard built a very unique camper where the family would stay during their yearly vacation to Reunion (a family church camp. ) Eventually, Bill designed his dream truck (a 2 seater Ford truck), bought a camper, and then a boat. Family activities included camping, fishing and water skiing. Bill was always active in his church, known then as The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, now Community of Christ. He was ordained a deacon in 1950 and a priest in 1960. In 1991 he was ordained an Elder. He served as a Sunday School Teacher, Youth Minister, Pastor, Youth Camp Director and hospital ministry. He believed in the power of prayer, and shared in prayer with any who asked. His hobby was being a Super Dad, Grandpa, and Great Grandpa. He supported his kids and grandkids in everything they did. Whether it be football, softball, basketball, wrestling matches, Special Olympic Events. Band and choir concerts, band contests, talent shows, award assemblies, whatever it was, he was in attendance at all of them. However, football was always his favorite, and he was not a fan of Operas. That support didn't stop when his kids went off and started their own adult lives. He was still there. Only a phone call away. He still helped them move, repair cars, build new homes, and build and transport band props. He was the greatest dish washer and would mop floors till he would drop. . What-ever needed done, He was there. As he aged, he decided he was going to BE Santa. He loved little kids, so this was a great fit for him. He would start growing his beard and hair out at the end of summer, so he would be good and bushy for the Christmas season. He was Santa to many. At schools, church, community activities, Nursing homes, hospitals, anywhere he was called, He was there to bring the Christmas Joy of Santa, Interesting fact. he never allowed Santa in his home with his own kids because Christmas was "Jesus' day!" In 2015, the town of Sperry honored Bill with the Old Timers Award. Bill loved the town of Sperry and his Pirates. Perhaps his greatest accomplishments was that he lived a clean, wholesome life. Shucks, rats or Hot Doggie were his strongest words. He lived his life by example. He taught folks to love God, to find joy in serving others, and to bless those around you with your gifts and talents. He taught us to be good leaders and to set a positive example. Most of all, he taught us to cherish, honor and love each other. He is survived by one brother, John and wife Sharon of Lyons, Kansas. 3 Children, Annis and Gene of Tulsa, Alane and Dave of Sperry and Arthur and Beth of Sand Springs. 7 Grandchildren, Shawna and husband Joe, Larry and wife Dee, Andrea and husband Eric, Angela, William, John and wife Amber, Rebecca and husband Michael. 12 Great Grand Children: Tiarra, Michaela, Darrin, Lexie, Brooklyn, Natalia, Leo, Dalton, Bella, Ellie, Chloe. And Takoda. And 4 Great-Great Grand daughters, as well as a host of extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Betty, son, Everett Allen, parents, Ralph and Beaula Hardie, Son in Law Lawrence Hickman, sister Darlene and Brother in Law, Ralph Coen.
