Charles Lee Triplett, 95, of Pine Bluff, passed peacefully at home, early Wednesday, October 4, 2023. He was born August 6, 1928 in Pine Bluff, son of Walter N. and Eva Mae Triplett. Charles was reared and received his early education in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School in 1946. During his high school years he served in the Civil Air Patrol and upon graduation, he served in the United States Marine Corps from 1946-1948. Upon his return to Pine Bluff, he married the love of his life, Bettye Hampton Triplett in November 1948 and started work for Arkansas Power and Light Company, where he worked for 42 years. He served as treasurer for the Kilowatt Credit Union for over 20 years. Charles was a member of the VFW, Post 4455 and served for many years as treasurer. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bettye; daughter, Donna Triplett Hill; brothers, Bobby Triplett and Walter Triplett; and sister, Mary Alice Johnson. He was a life-long member of Immanuel Baptist Church and looked forward to being there each Sunday. While we will genuinely miss our father, and friend, we take great solace in knowing where he is now. Charles loved his family and many friends, and leaves behind three sons, Charles Jr. and his wife Elizabeth Ann Hess Triplett, Tom Triplett, and David Triplett; four grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. Visitation will be 5:30-7:00 PM, Monday, October 9, 2023 at Ralph Robinson and Son. Graveside service followed by interment will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Graceland Cemetery. Nancy Lea Bain Wright, 95, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of December 5, 2023, surrounded by her loving daughters. Nancy was born October 13, 1928, in Camden, AR, the daughter of the late Lillian Lea Bain and Robert Jack Bain. Nancy was raised in Monticello, AR graduating from Monticello High School. She attended Arkansas A&M in Monticello where she met her future husband, James A. Wright and were happily married for 53 years. Nancy and James lived in Pine Bluff and Little Rock raising their two daughters, Janet and Beverly and later enjoying their retirement years until James’ death in 2001. Nancy was a kind, gentle soul with the sweetest smile and disposition, who loved to shop and travel, but her biggest pleasure was spending time with her family. The many birthday, holiday and family celebrations are memories that will never be forgotten. She was member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock and a member of the Grace Sunday School class, where she enjoyed the friendships of her fellow classmates and especially attending their monthly class luncheons, bible study classes and the fun-filled day trips. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and John Chappelle of Little Rock and daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and David Beck of White Hall and her two beloved granddaughters, Katie Beck and Jenny Beck both of Little Rock. She was their biggest fan. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Bobby Wright and his wife, Carolyn of Hot Springs and several nieces and nephews who were dear and close to her heart. Nancy was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother who deeply loved her family and friends. She will be missed beyond measure and will live in our hearts forever. Funeral services will be 2:00 p. m. , Friday, December 8, 2023 with in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son with Reverend Rick Jaggars officiating. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 p. m. until service time at Robinson’s. Wilma Inez (Jenner) Applebury, age 99, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas passed away on November 30, 2023, at home in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She was born on November 12, 1924, at the family farm in Sumner, Lawrence County, Illinois, the fourth child of six children, daughter of Horace Webster and Goldie Margaret (Doe) Jenner. Grandparents were Dr. Edward Jenner and Laura (Hershey). Maternal grandparents were John and Elizabeth Doe. The family attended Union Chapel Church, which sat on the land donated by the Jenners' at the corner of the family farm. She married Ivo (Red) Forrest Applebury on August 02, 1947, and he preceded her in death on January 26, 1988. Wilma Inez (Jenner) Applebury attended Spring Hill, a one room grade school taught by Lauren Petty. Wilma graduated from Lawrenceville High School in June 1941, at the age of 16. In July, Wilma attended Holsey Business School in Decatur, Illinois and received a certificate/diploma in 1942. In 1943, Wilma moved to St Louis to work as a secretary with Continental Rubber Works and then Boyd's Department Store until the Spring of 1948. Wilma was a legal secretary with the city of West Memphis, Arkansas for about 40 years until she retired (85). When President Bill Clinton was Governor of Arkansas, Wilma served as a secretary when he came to West Memphis. Wilma was a "Daughter of the American Revolution. " Wilma loved playing the piano. Her first lessons were with Betsy Harper. Wilma was a member of the West Memphis, Arkansas Seventh Day Adventist Church and served as a pianist; she loved to play hymns. Wilma loved crossword puzzles, reading, and taking shorthand. She loved to correct the family grammar and spelling. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; one brother: Edward C. Jenner; four sisters: Laura Elizabeth (Jenner) Thompkins, Margaret Hope (Jenner) Martindale, Mary Lou (Jenner) Ferriell, and Idella Ruth Jenner; and one daughter: Bonita Dean Applebury Pacheco Marshall. Survivors include four children: Donna Lou (Applebury) Nixon (Dalen) of California, Michael Foriest Applebury (Sandra) of Arkansas, Eugene Webster Applebury (Vivian) of Tennessee, and Edward Ivo Applebury (Heidi) of California; 16 grandchildren: Carolynda Applebury (Joseph), Daniel Marshall, Laura Lou (Nixon) Cook (William), Kyle Nixon (Shienan), Melissa Inez Nixon (Stephen Johnson), Michael Foriest Applebury, Jr. (Deborah), Tamara (Applebury) Tirado (Brian), Heather Applebury, Jennifer (Applebury) Holley, Christina (Applebury) Scott (Lawrence), Genie (Applebury) Yanez (Dani), Jonathan Applebury (Betsy), Timothy Applebury, Andrew Applebury, James Applebury (Katsumi), and John Applebury (Apitida); 25 great-grandchildren: Annelise Applebury-Stevenson, Christina Applebury-Stevenson, Courtney Applebury-Zelee, Emma Cook, Autumn Nixon, Everest Nixon, Alexandria Applebury, Abigail Applebury, Annabel Applebury, Emma Tirado, Ian Tirado, Nathan Holley, Hailey Holley, Lauren Holley, Sophie Scott, Lawrence Scott, Jr. , Nicole Bishop, Courtney Bishop, Victoria Applebury, Shelby Applebury, Jeremiah Applebury, Ryan Applebury, Kouki Applebury, Kazuki Applebury, and Isabella Applebury; and five great-great-grandchildren: Belladonna Applebury, Elizabeth Applebury, Paisley Applebury, Kenzie Zelee and Estelle Zelee. Family members wish to announce the loss of their loved one, Deborah Kay Vassaur Robinson, on December 3, 2023, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Debbie was born July 5, 1953, to Arden W. and Margaret Euseppi Vassaur. She grew up in Altheimer, Arkansas in the Roman Catholic faith and graduated high school from Mount St. Mary Academy in Little Rock. It was at St. Mary’s where Debbie met several likeminded friends who are precious to her. Debbie’s life on this earth may be summarized by some as a dedicated wife, mother, antiquarian, and horticulturalist--leaving behind a grieving family, a beautiful botanical garden of nearly a city block known as "Martin Place", and a lifelong collection of precious antiques filled with family memories. Debbie attended college at Arkansas State University and Sullins College in Bristol, VA, after which she came home and married the love of her life, Lester Robinson, on April 5, 1974, in Altheimer. Their marriage of nearly 50 years was blessed with a son, Justin Albert Robinson. During her last illness of nearly a year, her life’s work was crowned by being gifted with daily love, affection, and care from Lester, Justin, her brother, Rusty. Debbie is survived by her husband, Lester Robinson of Pine Bluff, her son, Justin Albert Robinson of Little Rock, AR, her brothers, Gary W. "Rusty" Vassaur of Little Rock, and Tommy W. "Buddy" Vassaur of Kileen, TX, and several nephews, nieces, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and her sister, Diane Vassaur Morehead Evans. We will miss Debbie on this earth but are assured we will see her again as believers in Christ according to the promises which she embraced from Psalm 23, John 14, and many other Scriptures. Norman Charles "Buddy" Jacks was born March 24, 1941, in Pine Bluff to Norman "Sam" and Frances Johnson Jacks. He graduated from Pine Bluff High School and began working for International Paper from where he retired. Buddy loved the outdoors, and anything involved with it. He loved to hunt and fish and could out-fish anyone around. He loved playing golf at Harbor Oaks and especially loved beating his sons-in-law, demonstrating his competitive spirit. Buddy loved anything to do with horses and enjoyed cooking and baking, but most of all, he loved his wife and four girls. Buddy passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at the age of 82. He was preceded in death by his parents and his only sibling, Barbara Payne. He is survived by his wife whom he married February 6, 1960, Jo Ann Harris Jacks; daughters, Cristy Lowe, Kelly Baker (Jeff), Karla Balcirak (Kevin), and Carrie Christoffersen (Seth); grandchildren, Crystal Sidwell (Brandon), Ryan Sullivan (Josh), Jared Baker, Alyson Cantwell (Justin), Jacob Baker (Ashley), Raine Fraser (Matt), Brett Balcirak, Halle Balcirak, Colton Christoffersen, Caden Christoffersen, and Lily Kate Christoffersen; six great-grandchildren and twins due to join the family in June of 2024. The family also wishes to acknowledge with great thanks Toshia Green and Belinda Jones who have been more than caregivers to the Jacks family, but special friends and companions.
