"Charles (Charlie) Stephen Steffenhagen passed away on April 30th, 2023. Charlie was born on October 23rd, 1957 to Charles W Steffenhagen and Wilma McPhee in Rochester, NY and raised in Clifton Springs, NY. After relocating to Minnesota from New York, he and his first wife made the move to Edinburg Tx in 1980, then on to Harlingen Tx around 1985 where he resided until 1991 when he made his final move to Austin Tx. He was a Master Plumber with the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 286 of Austin Tx until his unexpected retirement in 2001 after a motorcycle accident that left him wheelchair bound. In typical Charlie fashion, he didn't let that get in the way of him and his motorcycle. He always lived his life on his own terms and continued to ride up until the very end. He said "Half the reason I moved to Texas was that you could ride 362 days a year; you couldn't ride the other 3 days because the parts weren't in yet". He had a passion for blues music, racing and he could tell a story like no other. He was fiercely loyal to his friends and family and would give you the shirt off his back - though admittedly sometimes that was just because the sun was shining and he wanted to catch some rays. He defined the phrase "They broke the mold". He is preceded in death by his parents and first wife Sandra Shaw. Left to cherish is memory are his children, Jennifer (Lupe) Villarreal, Amber (Mike) Steffenhagen and Rachel Steffenhagen; Sisters Abbey Steffenhagen and Susan (Curtis) Guess; brother, Bill Steffenhagen; Granddaughters Nicole (Marcus) Villarreal, Madison (Noah) Villarreal; Grandsons Connor and Liam Ericson; Great Grandsons Jackson Buegeler and Mason Morin; Aunt Sabina; Ex-Wife Kate Gibson and Cherished Friend Robin Woodside. An informal memorial will be held on Wednesday May 3rd, 2023 at 6pm at the Lost Well 2421 Webberville Rd, Austin, Tx. "
