Obituary Thomas Mowers, 72, of Killeen, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family in Round Rock, Texas on November 17, 2023. Thomas was born on June 29, 1951, to Carl and Luella Mowers in Syracuse, New York. Thomas enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1970 and proudly served until he was honorably discharged in 1980. He served with the 1st Cavalry Division and 2nd Armored Division and was awarded numerous awards, including the Expert Rifle designation, National Defense Service medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary medal, Good Conduct medal, and the Driver and Mechanic badge. While stationed overseas, he married the love of his life, Soon Im Yu, in 1971. Together, they shared fifty-two amazing years, three daughters, and two grand-daughters that are the joys of their lives. Thomas loved anything that involved mechanics. He was an avid gardener, loved to listen to and sing music, and was a genius at fixing most anything he put his mind to. Not only could he fix things, but he also enjoyed teaching others how to help themselves. He loved old movies, especially military movies. He had a kind heart, was quick to share a laugh, loved animals, and never met a stranger. However, nothing surpassed his love of the Lord, his country, and his family, especially watching his grandchildren playing, riding bikes, taking part in sports, and assembling puzzles. He was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws, as well as his older siblings, Carl Mowers and Helen Duskee. He is survived by his beloved wife, Soon, his daughters, Helen Mowers, Lana (Rolando) DeLeon, and Linda (Tommy) Bank, his granddaughters, Sarah and Olivia DeLeon, his brother, Jerry (Barbara) Mowers of Lewisville, TX, his sister, Sheila (Bud) Fitzhugh of Baltimore, MD, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was loved greatly and will be missed forever. Thomas will be interred at the State Veterans Cemetery in a private family ceremony. Memorial contributions may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude.Show more
