"The staff at Heishman Funeral Home Inc. sends condolences to the family of Nancy Marie Osman. Nancy Marie Osman passed away on February 7th, 2024, at the age of 76. She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on March 4, 1947. Her final days were comfortable. She began experiencing dementia many years ago and tolerated it well. Nancy was easy to be around even as the disease progressed. In September of 2015 she entered Eagan Senior Living in Eagan, MN where she roamed the facility trying to “help the staff.” A year later she was invited to reside in the memory care portion of the building for her own protection. In 2017 Nancy fell and broke her hip. She was hospitalized and was transferred to a nursing facility. At that time, she was mildly impaired and could still carry on a conversation and she recognized staff and family. In April the family determined that it would be best if she was moved to Virginia. An assisted living home in Woodstock, VA called Greenfield Reflections was found and Nancy was admitted but confined to a wheelchair. Fear of her falling again drove that decision. She spent six and a half years in Greenfield. During that time her condition deteriorated as expected. While her cognitive abilities eroded, she was never a burden and always acted properly with the staff. They loved her dearly. Nancy attended St. Richards Catholic School and the Academy of Holy Angels High School both in Richfield, MN. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a BA in Sociology. For many years Nancy worked as an editor helping authors bring their works to press. She traveled a great deal, visiting colleges and universities across the country, finding, recruiting, and supporting her clients. After that long and successful career she worked as a substitute teacher in the Half Moon Bay, California school system. She lived in that lovely town for nearly thirty years. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Marcella (Stone) Osman; grandparents, Henry Gotfred Stone and Anna (Nelson) Stone; step-grandmother, Hedvig (Anderson) Stone and Grandparents, Hirum Osman and Elizabeth (Wooley) Osman. Nancy is survived by brother, Bradley Osman and Karen (Peterson) Osman; sister, Marcia (Osman) Johnson; nephews, Erick Osman (Claudia), Mitchell Osman (Andrea), and Ryan Johnson (Amber); grandnieces, Nylah Osman and Everly Osman; and grandnephew, Harper Osman. Gatherings of family and friends will be arranged in Minnesota and Virginia to commemorate Nancy’s influence and impact on those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
