Charles Preston Monschke, 76, of Krum entered the kingdom of heaven on April 21, 2023. He was born in Denton on January 25, 1947, to Alfred Gustav and Mattie Ruth Monschke. Charles grew up working on the Monschke farm with his brothers, and graduated from Krum High School in 1965. He was class president and valedictorian and played state basketball. He also played baseball, ran track and participated in FFA. He married his high school sweetheart, Alta Mae Shurbet, at Grace Temple Baptist Church in Denton, Texas on November 25, 1966. Charles worked at Victor Equipment Company (Victor) to pay his college expenses and graduated from North Texas State University (now UNT) in 1970. He has worked over 58 years at Victor (now ESAB) moving from a production line worker to a mechanical engineer. At 76, he was still joining global calls as a manager of advanced mechanical engineering, up until he was too sick to work any longer. He built a house with his wife in Krum and raised their children there. They just celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary and he still greeted his wife with "Hello, my love" or " Hello beautiful". His hobby was loving his wife, children, son and daughter in law, and grandchildren. He attended as many games, award ceremonies and special events as possible. He even made an effort to watch his nephews play basketball for Krum and his niece Steffanee's children play basketball for Ponder. He coached both his daughter and son in basketball, softball and baseball, along with many other children in Krum. Throughout the years he also became an expert in gymnastics, cross country, track, cheerleading, tennis, all positions in soccer, ice skating, and volleyball. He enjoyed every minute of it and always told them "Good Job" after the game. He also worked many a concession stand at basketball and baseball games, and served as a Krum ISD school board member the early 90's, looking out not only for his son but all children in Krum. He had a heart of gold, was a gentle giant, and always put others before himself. Whether you knew him as Charles, Charlie, Daddy, Dad, or Poppy, you always knew you could count on him for a smile, a laugh, or a joke. He is survived by his wife, Alta Monschke of Krum, daughter, Angela Monschke Hutson and her husband, Robert of Colleyville, Tx. , son, Michael Wesley Monschke and his wife, Lisa of Argyle, granddaughters Haley Hutson, Katlyn Hutson, Morgan Monschke, and Molly Monschke.
