"Charles Delmer Mink, age 51, of Mt. Vernon, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023. He leaves behind his mother, Muriel Truitt Mink; five siblings, Eleschia Gayer \u0026amp; husband Brian of Williamsport, OH, Mark Mink \u0026amp; wife Angie of Brodhead, KY, Melissa Martin \u0026amp; husband Alex of London, KY, Kimberly Mink of Mt. Vernon, KY, Michael Darren Mink \u0026amp; wife Stephanie of Mt. Vernon, KY; plus a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by his father, Delmer Mink. Charles worked in construction for Elmo Greer \u0026amp; Sons for over 15 years. He loved the outdoors, animals and working on things. He was a jack-of-all-trades, and could fix anything. Charles was an amazing artist, and he had a great sense of humor. Charles Delmer Mink will be laid to rest at Mize Cemetery in Rockcastle County. The family has entrusted House-Rawlings Funeral Home with the arrangements. "

Mrs. Dorothy Reva Owens Lovell, 94 of Mt. Vernon, passed from this life on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Rockcastle Regional Hospital. She was born at Burr in Rockcastle County, KY on October 7, 1929 the daughter of Harry and Mary Childress Owens. A 1948 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School, she was a retired nurse aide and a cafeteria supervisor for Rockcastle County Schools. She was a life-long member of Chestnut Ridge Church of Christ and enjoyed gardening and painting, as well as her beloved pet, "Gracie". She is survived by her sons: Michael Lovell and wife Sharon, and Dr. Mark Lovell; a son-in-law, Jim Rickels; her grandchildren: Joshua Rickels, Jessica Rickels Snyder and husband Ben, Kami Lovell Phillips and husband Doug, Michael Lovell and wife Becca, David Lovell and wife Sheila, and Jenny Hall; great grandchildren: Luke and Gabriel Snyder, Finnley and Felix Phillips, Jasper and Henry Lovell, Holly Cromer Rebuck, Emily Hall, Alexis Lovell Brown, and Paige and Mykah Lovell; and one great-great grandchild, Oaklynn Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Lovell, Jr. in 1964; two children: Candace Lovell Rickels and Harry "Tim" Lovell; and siblings: Carmen Owens Coldiron, Fannie Lee Owens Coldiron, William Owens, Robert Owens, Henry Owens, and Sylvia Owens Lewis. Funeral services for Mrs. Lovell will be conducted Wednesday, November 22 at 1:00 PM at the Dowell & Martin Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Ova Baker. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Lloyd Lee Cain, 88 of Mt. Vernon, passed from this life on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at the Berea Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Wildie, KY on May 26, 1935 the son of Robert and Minnie Thacker Cain. A graduate of Brodhead High School and the University of Kentucky, Mr. Cain served in the US Army prior to beginning an education career as a vocational agriculture teacher in Jackson County. He later became the agriculture teacher at Mt. Vernon High School where he taught and farmed until the formation of the Harry Sparks Vocational School, where he served as its first principal until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Vernon and had been active in several county organizations including the local Draft Board, County Extension Board and Council, Area Development Board, and Rockcastle County Improvement Council. He had been a Soil Conservation Board member, served on the Kentucky Commission for Agriculture in Rockcastle County, and served two terms on the Mt. Vernon City Council. He later became a real estate agent and certified appraiser for Prudential Don Foster Realtors and continued to farm in his retirement. Mr. Cain leaves behind his loving wife, Betty Jean Carter Cain; his children: Dr. Lee Cain and wife Marcia of Mt. Vernon, and Tina Hasty and husband Jerry of Brodhead; three grandchildren: Garrett Hasty, Rachel Cain, and Aiden Cain; and two sisters: Lou Crawford and Jean Kidwell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth. Funeral services for Mr. Cain will be conducted Monday, November 21 at 7:30 PM at the Dowell & Martin Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Dennis Wilder. Mr. Charles Stephens "C. S. " McKinney, Sr. , 84 of Mt. Vernon, passed from this life on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. He was born at Maretburg in Rockcastle County, KY on April 10, 1939 the son of Luther Absalom and Thula Helen Stephens McKinney. He was a retired employee of Gibson/American Greeting Card Company and a farmer. He was a deacon and Sunday School teacher at Freedom Baptist Church and was a Kentucky Colonel. He enjoyed camping and fishing. He is survived by his loving wife of over 61 years, Carolyn Norton McKinney; his children: Steve McKinney and wife Sherri of Brodhead, Dwayne McKinney and wife Reva of Mt. Vernon, and Sheryl Bullock and husband Ray, also of Mt. Vernon; a brother, L. A. McKinney and wife Beverly; a sister, Lucy Jane Beaumont and husband Alan; and a sister-in-law, Pat McKinney. Also surviving are grandchildren: Erica and Matt Doan, Darrin and Brandy McKinney, Sarah McKinney, Nathan and Emily Bullock, Kristyna McKinney, Anthony and Samantha McKinney, and Tabitha Bullock; and great grandchildren: Kenley and Madison Doan Ryker, Charley and Caroline McKinney, and Ethan Bullock. In addition to his parents, Luther and Helen McKinney, he was preceded in death by his grandparents: Charlie and Sadie Brown McKinney; and brothers Bobby McKinney and Danny Joe McKinney. Rev. George Merril Poynter, 86 of Mt. Vernon, passed from this life on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at his home surrounded by family. He was born in Rockcastle County, KY on August 8, 1937 the son of Charles and Lydia Arvin Poynter. A graduate of Livingston High School, he had been a production manager for Okonite Cable Company, retiring after 29 years of service. He pastored Colony Holiness Church for 40 years and was the President of the Full Gospel Ministerial Association of America for 12 years. He was also a member and Chairman of the Rockcastle County School Board for 16 years. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and is survived by: his loving wife of 64 years, Icie Owens Poynter; his sons: Mark Poynter (Sheila), Greg Poynter (Kim), and David Poynter (Yolonda); a daughter, Lora Joan Poynter; his grandchildren: Adam Poynter, Zach Poynter (Samantha), and Sarah Poynter Nordine (Ethan); step-grandchildren: Kristina Lowery, Erica and Patric; a brother, James Russell Poynter (Ann); nephews: Russell Edward Poynter (Anna), Duke Gibson, and Earl Poynter; and a niece, Suann Hensley (Brady). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: a brother, Wesley Poynter; three sisters: Cloa Mae, Cynthia, and Margie Poynter; and a nephew, Bradley Poynter. Funeral services for Rev.
