Charles William "Bill" McAbee, Jr. of Pelzer, SC passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023 at the age of 81. He was the only child of the late Charles William McAbee, Sr. and Mary Vanadore McAbee. Continue Reading Watch Livestream x Charles "Bill" William McAbee Jr February 5, 1942 - October 2, 2023 Charles William "Bill" McAbee, Jr. of Pelzer, SC passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023 at the age of 81. He was the only child of the late Charles William McAbee, Sr. and Mary Vanadore McAbee. He was a graduate of Woodruff High School Class of 1960. He attended Spartanburg Methodist College and Furman University. He held a Ham Radio License from the age of 18. His call letters were W4JOY. Some of his closest friendships were formed from his time spent on the radio. He retired from the Woodruff Branch of the United States Post Office as a Rural Mail Carrier. Bill loved to travel. He and Glenda traveled across our country from coast to coast and explored Alaska and Hawaii, too. They enjoyed frequent day trips and fun adventures with their cherished grandchildren. Bill was a true Southern Gentleman. He believed in opening car doors, walking on the outside of the sidewalk and letting a lady precede him when entering a room. He was a lifelong Christian and stayed faithful to his Lord and Savior until his last breath. He is survived by his beloved G Girl, Glenda Bishop McAbee, his son, Charles William "Chuck" McAbee III, his wife, Linda and their children, Seth and Casey, son, Mark McAbee, his wife, Jill and their children, Abby, Savannah and Ava. Also surviving are Glenda's children, Sam Finley, his wife, Terra, his children, Christopher, Blake and Ashleigh and their children, Landon and Lucas as well as Malena Long and her daughter, Chelsea. He loved every one of them greatly. He was predeceased by his first wife, Martha Casey McAbee, to whom he was married for 38 years. He was her dedicated caregiver during her many years of illness. A visitation will be held Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 1:30 p. m. until 2:45 p. m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast followed by the memorial service at 3:00 p. m. in the Chapel. Family and friends who are unable to attend the service can view the livestream by clicking on the "WATCH LIVESTREAM" button located on the main obituary page.
