Mr. Charles "Charlie" Luhn, 96, of Frederick, died Monday, September 11, 2023 at Fahrney Keedy Nursing Home, Boonsboro. He was the loving husband of the late Anne "Betty" (Kroh) Luhn for 68 years. Charles proudly served in the US Navy during WWII. He was a life member of the American Legion Post #11, where he enjoyed a Miller Lite with his friends on Thursday afternoons. He enjoyed spending time with his family and playing his harmonica. Mr. Luhn was the father of Anne Keyser and husband Frank "Buddy" of Boonsboro, Michael Luhn of Frederick and David Luhn and wife Wanda of Thurmont. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Scott Luhn and wife Monica and Bradley Luhn amd great-grandson; Sebastian Luhn, step-granddaughter; Charlotte McKee, sister-in-law; Patricia Luhn, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law; Kristin Luhn, sister; Geraldine Luhn, and brothers; Lester Luhn, Kenneth Luhn and James Luhn. The family will receive friends from 2pm to 4pm, on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. The funeral service will be held at 11:00AM, on Monday September 18, 2023 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. David Thomas Weesner, 73, of Williamsport, Maryland, passed from this life on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Charlotte's Home in Boonsboro. Born on February 20, 1950, in Vinncenes, Indiana, he was the son of the late Ray Thomas Weesner and Myrtle Matilla (Gard ) Weesner. He was a 1968 graduate of Bridge Port High School. He would continue his education, later receiving a Bachelor’s of Science in Wildlife Management. Mr. Weesner worked for many years as a park ranger with the State of Maryland. He enjoyed birding and traveling and was a member of the Delaware, Maryland, and North Carolina Ornithological societies, Washington County Bird Club, Cape Fear Audubon Society and Boonsboro American Legion. He also volunteered as a Bird Steward at Wrightsville Beach for several years. Additionally, he was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. He is survived by four children, Mark Speicher and wife Peggie, Crystal Jenkins and husband Eric, Kevin Weesner and wife Teresa, and Ryan Weesner and wife Angela; grandchildren, Katie Speicher, Shannon Melvin, Megan Jenkins, Payten Weesner, Erica Jenkins, Connor Dill, Ashlyn Jenkins, Brent Weesner, Christian Weesner, Dillion Weesner, and Alaynnah Weesner; siblings, Jan Weesner and Larry Weesner, and many nieces and nephews. Edward Eugene Asper, 80, of Boonsboro, MD, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023 at his home. He was born on November 15, 1942 to the late George Edward Asper and Mary Catherine Wilhelm Asper. Edward served in the United States Navy. After his military service he was employed with Alban Tractor Company Inc. for 43 years, first as a mechanic, and then as a truck driver. He was a member of the Williamsport Redmen Tribe 84 and the Williamsport American Legion Post 202. Edward was a longtime member of Concordia Lutheran Church, where he served as Head Usher for many years. He will always be remembered for his boisterous laugh that could be heard throughout the building. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Linda Asper, and his daughter, Crystal D. Knode. He is survived by his sons, Edward E. Asper Jr. and his wife, Lisa and Robert A. Asper and his wife, Michelle, his grandchildren, William VonAlt, BethAnn Byrd, Travis Byrd, Robert Asper II, Erin Bitterman, Kaylee Barton, and Victoria Asper, several beloved great-grandchildren, and his sisters, Catherine Angel, Jean Haines, and Ruth Kemp. Mary Ann Mackrell, 67, of Hagerstown, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Fahrney Keedy Nursing Home in Boonsboro. Born on October 29, 1955, in South Bound Brook, NJ. , she was the daughter of the late Delores (Patterson) and James Harvey Connor, Jr. She is a graduate of Somerville High School, class of 1973, and a graduate of Hagerstown Business College in 2007. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Lillian Connor; Brothers, Douglas Connor, James H. Connor, III. , and John Connor; and Sister, Denise Heid; and her beloved dog, Baby. Mary Ann worked as a clerk in Medical Records for WVU Berkeley Medical Center until her retirement after over 10 years of service. Mary Ann attended Lifehouse Church in Hagerstown. She enjoyed spending time gardening and working out at Planet Fitness, and was proud of her time as a student of karate at Smith's Karate in Smithsburg. She enjoyed, more than anything, spending time with her granddaughters. She is survived by her former husband Paul Mackrell, Jr and their sons; Jeremy Mackrell and wife Kayla, and Justin Mackrell and wife Natalie, both of Hagerstown; Grandchildren, Taylor and Alexis; Sisters, Kim Rudnick (Forrest), and Brenda Connor; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Sunday November 5, 2023, at 3pm at Robinwood Church in Hagerstown, MD with Pastor Henry Marquiss officiating. Clarence Monroe Clark, Jr. , of Silver Spring, MD, passed away peacefully at Casey Hospice House on September 24th, after a courageous battle with cancer. Clarence, also known as Junior, or J. R. , worked as an auto mechanic for many years until his retirement at age 72. He loved big game hunting, and once traveled to Alaska, to fulfil his dream of hunting grizzly bear, of which he succeeded. He also enjoyed deer hunting, as well as visiting his friend's farm in Boonsboro, where he helped to control the groundhog population. Although he enjoyed hunting wild animals, Junior had a love for all animals, and had many pets over the years, including his horse "Buck", as well as dogs King, Doggie, Rex, Pepper, Kanella, Lucky, and Princess. He also raised chickens and ducks and dabbled in beekeeping for many years. Junior's greatest love in life, however, was his wife, Shirley, to whom he had been married for 65 years. She was his best friend and life partner, and his world revolved around her. They were rarely apart, especially in recent years. Junior was predeceased by his parents, Clarence Monroe Clark, Sr. , and Mildred Clark of Hyattsville, MD. In addition to his wife, Shirley, Junior is survived by his daughter, Susan Davis (husband Darwin) of Dickerson; Son, David (girlfriend Jan) of Silver Spring, granddaughter, Christina Sanders (husband Zac), of Clarksburg, and great Grandson, Benjamin Sanders, also of Clarksburg. He is also survived by his brother, Clyde Clark, of Utah, Sister-in-laws, Mary Mason of Woodbine, Sharon Cardinal (husband Garry) of Knoxville, TN, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends, including his Old Orchard Road neighbors/family. A memorial service for Junior will be held on Saturday, October 7th at Ashton Methodist Church, 17314 New Hampshire Avenue, Ashton, MD 20861. Kathy Sue Castle, 65, of Boonsboro, passed from this life, at home, surrounded by her family and friends on Monday, September 18, 2023. She will be missed by her loving husband of 42 years, Terry L. Castle, Sr. Born on February 6, 1958, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Beverly J. (Smith) Kitchen of Ormand Beach, Florida, and the late George Garlock. She was a 1976 graduate of Boonsboro High School. Kathy traveled with her husband to Tennessee, one of her favorite places. Her family farmed together and she enjoyed taking 4 wheeler rides on the farm. In addition to her mother and husband, Kathy is survived by three sons, Terry L. Castle, Jr. and girlfriend, Chrissy Willet, Aaron A. Castle and fiancée, Destiny Danner, all of Boonsboro, and Justin D. Castle, Sr. and wife, Amanda, of Williamsport; four grandchildren, Colby A. Castle, Justin D. Castle, Jr. , Grace L. Castle, and Olivia R. Castle; two sisters, Elissa Williams and Beverly Seal, all of Hagerstown; one brother, Frankie Seal of Ormand Beach; her aunt, Mary Martin, of Boonsboro; nieces, nephews, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Gerald and Goldie Castle.
