Charles Gaskins, son of the late Frank Gaskins and Pauline Pritchett Gaskins, was born on August 7, 1942, in Steele, Missouri, and departed this life on October 5, 2023, in Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at the age of 81 years. Mr. Gaskins was a veteran of the United States Navy. He had worked in construction and was a resident of Bloomfield, Missouri. On July 20, 1985, in Bernie, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Bolin. Mrs. Gaskins survives of their home in Bloomfield. Along with his wife, he is survived by two sons, Charles Gaskins II of Bloomfield, Missouri, and Gary Gaskins of Granite City, Illinois; by two sisters, Debbie Asher of Eldon, Missouri, and Sherrie Yates of Bono, Arkansas, and by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Other than by his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Gaskins; and by three sisters, Joyce Sims, Gloria Ring, and Glenda Martin. No services are planned. Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is assisting with arrangements.

"Anne Morie Skelton Lovel, 83, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri died Monday, December 4, 2023 at The Lutheran Home. She was born April 1, 1940 in Cleveland, Mississippi to Louie and Kathleen Eugenia Mitchell Skelton, the oldest of five children. She was a country girl who grew up on her daddy\u0027s cotton farm. Anne was a 1960 graduate of Greenville High School and attended college at Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi. Anne met her husband, Gwinn Marshall Lovel, while he was stationed at the United States Air Force base in Greenville, Mississippi. They were married September 28, 1963 at First United Methodist Church in Greenville, Mississippi and raised two sons. Dr. Gwinn Marshall Lovel preceded her in death on May 29, 2017. She belonged to the Cape Girardeau community for 54 years, after she and her husband moved to Cape Girardeau in 1969. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, the Rasche Sunday School Class, the Ladies Society at the church, and United Methodist Women. She was also a volunteer at Southeast Hospital and Saint Francis Medical Center. Anne was an animal lover, especially of her dog, \u0026quot;Peanut. \u0026quot; Survivors include her son, Michael Lovel of Castleton, Indiana; three brothers, Emery Dale (Ann) Skelton of Lake Village, Arkansas, Louie Mack (Jane) Skelton of Greenville, Mississippi and William David (Charlotte) Skelton of Ruleville, Mississippi; sister, Mary Edith Skelton (Earl) Grochau of Memphis, Tennessee; her husband\u0027s two sisters, Donna Powell of Williamsburg, Virginia and Mary Kay Belter of Seadrift, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kathleen and Louie Skelton of Winterville, Mississippi; her husband, Dr. Gwinn Marshall Lovel; son, Jeffrey Lloyd Lovel; and sisters-in-law, Helen Wilkerson Skelton and Bonnie Potter Skelton. There will be a committal service at 10:00 am Saturday, December 9, 2023 at the mausoleum at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau with the Rev. Linda Gastreich officiating. Burial will follow at Cape County Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children\u0027s Research Hospital, Grace United Methodist Church or Dr. Gwinn M. Lovel Scholarship at Southeast Missouri University Foundation. "Marilyn K. Huttegger, 82, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at her residence. She was born July 12, 1941 in Cape Girardeau, MO to Clem H. and Thelma Rose (Halter) Fornkohl. Marilyn\u0027s faith played a major part of her life. She was a member of Hanover Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Women\u0027s Missionary League, and Potter\u0027s Clay. She loved her family, playing cards, reading, and cooking for friends and family. She was a medical secretary for her entire work career, serving at Southeast Missouri Hospital and Orthopaedic Associates. Survivors include two daughters, Tammy (Mike) Givens, Pam (Jim \u0026quot;Woody\u0026quot;) Woodruff; four grandchildren, Misti (Randy) Valleroy, Chelsea (Jordan) Carver, Will Sellers, Maris Woodruff; six great-grandchildren, Hunter Jones, Aedan Easter, Juli Valleroy, Aurora Valleroy, Oliver Carver, Lily Carver; sister, JoAnn (Bill) Oliver; two nephews, Brian Weber, Brad Oliver; great-niece, Kalina Weber; and her \u0026quot;adoptive\u0026quot; daughter, Miho (Ron) Sayles. Thomas R. "Bob" McLane, 81, of Oak Ridge, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at the home of his daughter, in Oak Ridge. He was born August 23, 1942, in Cape Girardeau, to Kennett and Elois Drum McLane. He and Karen Darlene Scheper were married May 24, 1969, at First Assembly of God Church in Cape Girardeau. Three children were born to their union, Chuck, Heath, and Mary. Bob was a 1960 graduate of Oak Ridge High School. He honorably served six years in the Missouri Army National Guard. Bob was a lifelong truck driver. He drove for O'Loughlin Farms; Sealtest, Litz Poultry, and Kasten's. He retired several years ago, but still liked to drive, so he kept driving part-time, "officially retiring" from Paving Pro's in 2021. Bob was a member of New Salem Methodist Church in Daisy, Missouri. Loving survivors include three children, Chuck McLane of Oak Ridge, Heath (Rebekah) McLane and children Kennett and Garrett of China Spring, Texas, Mary Mason and children Hunter and Dylan of Oak Ridge; a brother, Bill (Jean) McLane of Millersville; brother-in-law, Gary Scheper of Cape Girardeau; four nieces, Sara Turner of Jackson, Raegan Hinkle of Anna, Illinois, April Whiteside of Pocahontas, Missouri, Jan Miller of Oklahoma; a nephew, Chris McLane of Daisy; and former sister-in-law, Barb Scheper. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Gladys Baylor Scheper. Visitation will be from 3:30 to 7 p. m. , Friday, December 1, 2023, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
