Known as "Chip" to family and friends, he grew up in Slate Hill, NY and graduated from Minisink Valley Central High School in 1970. While in school he excelled in every sport he played, including football, baseball, basketball and wrestling. He was a member of the Varsity Club and named to the All-Star teams in football and baseball. In 2017, he was inducted into the Minisink Valley Football Ring of Honor. He was proud to be a member and Captain of the 1969 undefeated Orange County League Champion Warriors. In 1969, Chip was 1st Team All Tri County Linebacker, 1st Team All OCL Linebacker, 1st Team All OCL Offensive Guard and 2nd Team All Tri County Offensive Guard. He also participated in Youth in Government and played trumpet in the band. After high school he joined the National Guard. He was employed for 27 years at Mid-Hudson Psychiatric Center as Senior Treatment Assistant. Chip has always been known for his solid work ethic which started with his newspaper route as a very young teenager. Delivering The Record every morning at 6am before school, he made great tips and loved always having money in his pocket. Later, he added shoveling snow and cutting and selling wood. Having the biggest woodpile in Slate Hill was something he was very proud of. Snowmobiling was also a favorite pastime in winter, and he also hunted and fished from an early age. He helped to instill the importance and love of the great outdoors in his children. In 2012, Chip attended and graduated from the USTA Driving School in Goshen, New York. He had a passion for working with horses and very much enjoyed his time at the stables. Chip is the only son of the late Charles Edgar Flynn, Jr. and is survived by his mother, Elaine Trautmann Flynn, who resides at Glen Arden in Goshen, NY. Chip was pre-deceased by sister-in-law Marilynda Nease. He is survived by sister Cheryl Flynn (Wilmington, NC) and sister Merrie Ann Sloth and her husband Rick (Elk Horn, IA). He is also survived by his wife Patricia Denninger Flynn (York, PA), son Jonathan Flynn and his wife Mary (Bloomingburg, NY), daughter Haley Foreman and her husband Tim (York, PA) and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Chip adored his 7 grandchildren: Abby (17), Anna (15), Kris (15), Trevor (11), Courtney (12), Colt (9) and Caitlin (7). Arrangements have been entrusted to Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, Middletown. Donations in Chip's name may be made to Pets Alive where Chip had volunteered or the Minisink Valley Football Booster Club. Like all of us, Chip had his struggles in life. We will remember his silly songs, cut off sleeves and the quiet acts of kindness he shared along his journey. To to the family or in memory of Charles Edgar Flynn III, please
