William "Bill" Edward Cooley March 7, 1930 - November 25, 2023 William Edward Cooley, 93, was born on March 7, 1930 in St. Louis Missouri to Charles Frederic Cooley, Jr. and Lillian Williams Cooley. Bill passed away peacefully at home on November 25, 2023 in Cincinnati Ohio. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marion Grace Sherman Cooley of Cincinnati; his sister Jane Ann Cooley Hays (David) of Boise, Idaho; his daughters and sons, Marilyn Grace Cooley Ginder (David) of Cincinnati, Noele Grace Williams of Hamilton, Ohio, Charles William Cooley of Cincinnati; and Harold Ross Cooley (deceased); by his grandchildren, Darren Michael Cooley of Cincinnati, Elisabeth Grace Cooley of Cincinnati, Jadon Charles Williams of Hamilton, Ohio, and Hannah Noele Williams (Mason Bourbon) of Cincinnati; by his great-grandchildren, Baylee Katherine Bourbon, Rylan Grace Bourbon, and Skyla Noele Bourbon, all of Cincinnati. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, the late Charles Frederic Cooley, Jr. and the late Lillian Williams Cooley; and by his son, the late Harold Ross Cooley. He obtained his PhD in inorganic chemistry at the University of Illinois in 1951, and became a research scientist at Procter and Gamble in Cincinnati that same year. Following retirement, he established Cooley Consulting, Inc. Bill was also a church organist for many years. Private services and burial have already been held. Jim was born in Cleves, Ohio to Ethel (nee Miller) and James B. Hine December 4, 1942. He died after a courageous battle with cancer on November 28, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was a loving husband for 61 years to Karen (nee Bullock); devoted father to Beth (the late Jay) McCarty and Sheila (Adam) Stapf; cherished Papaw of Jake (Loren) Stapf, Josh (Autumn) Stapf, Abby (Jeff) Smith, Matthew (Quinn) McCarty and Patrick McCarty; loving great-grandfather to Emmery, Oaklynn, Austin, Laken, Hope, Evie, Cooper, Creed and Connor. He is also survived by many dear nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Wilma Sutton & Janet Guenther, and mother-in-law Beatrice Bullock. Jim was truly a jack of all trades and was known for his keen ability to figure things out, problem solve, and work with his hands. These were valuable skills he passed on to his grandchildren. He enjoyed woodworking and was a mechanic by trade. He also liked to relax and go bowling with friends and family. He was a faithful employee with Cincinnati Gas & Electric (Duke) for over 30 years and retired as Superintendent. Jim's family would like to thank the staff at Bethesda Butler Hospital and Hospice of Hamilton for the excellent care they provided to Jim in his final weeks.
