A native of Modesto, CA, Toni was born on September 4, 1943, to Anthony and Clara (Varain) Dias. Aer graduating from St. Stanislaus High School and Modesto Junior College, Toni went on to careers in public service, real estate, and banking. She held none of these in higher regard than raising her children with the late Bernard "Barney" Bernal of San Jose, CA.
Aer being widowed, Toni married the late Harold Stalker, San Jose, CA, who subsequently rered and moved the family to Carson City in 1979.
Toni served as an usher at St. Teresa's Catholic Church for years. She was known locally for her bowling prowess and could regularly be found intimidating the pins at Carson Lanes. Between frames she was often overheard discussing candy/cookie recipes or proudly boasng about her grandchildren.
Toni is survived by her husband, Don (his children Melanie Stevens, Dave Evans), her two sons, Chris (Nadine) Bernal and Dan Bernal, three grandchildren, Melia, Noelani and Keanu Bernal, and her brother, Anthony J. (Charlene) Dias and children, Shannon, and Michael.
Visitation will be at Walton's Funeral Home at 1281 N Roop St. , Carson City, on Thurs. , Dec. 7th, from 3-7pm. A rosary, also at Walton's, will commence at noon Fri. , Dec. 8th, followed by services and interment. Family and friends are welcome to gather at her favorite socializing spot (El Charro Avitia) from 3-5pm.
