Charles "Chuck" J. Conklin, 87, of Baldwinsville, passed away on October 5, 2023. He was born on November 5, 1935 in Utica, NY to the late William H. and the late Elizabeth (Morath) Conklin. Chuck is preceded in death by his siblings, Donna Girard, Donald Conklin and Robert Conklin. Chuck retired from UPS in January of 1991 and was a devoted family man. Chuck is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joan, his children; Charles J. (Susan) Conklin of Baldwinsville, NY, Christopher (Janet) Conklin of Liverpool, NY, Stephen (Lori) Conklin of Cicero, NY, Peter (Nancy) Conklin of Boiling Springs, Pa, Patrick (Laurie) Conklin of Sandy, Utah, Kevin (Marie) Conklin of Baldwinsville, NY, and Michael Conklin of Cato, NY, 15 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren. Ruth E. Yingst, 92, of Baldwinsville, NY, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 21, 2023. She served the Lord many years by printing Gospel tracts and playing piano and organ in church. She sang of her love for Jesus until she went to her home in Heaven. She taught her children to love and serve the Lord. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Leon R. Yingst, and sisters, Doris Schaefer and Jeanne Tobias. She is survived by seven children, Natalie (Mike) Rudolph, Jo (Tom) Moore, Leon Yingst, Patty (Bill) Boardman, Zettie (Doug) Brown, Ruthie (Clay) Pople, and Harry (Michele) Yingst; twenty-three grandchildren; thirty-nine great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Anna Baker; and many nieces and nephews. A private burial will be held in Greene County Memorial Gardens where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Leon. Florence Crandall

Florence Crandall, 91, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023. Florence was born December 30, 1931 in Syracuse, NY to Eugene and Gladys Hebert. Florence graduated from Syracuse University in the 1950's. She worked as a Medical Technologist in St. Joseph's Hospital until she married Francis Crandall on May 9, 1959. They lived in Syracuse, NY for many years before moving to Baldwinsville in the early 2000's. She was a devoted member of Assumption Church in Syracuse. Her hobbies included photography, bird watching, and cake decorating. Florence is predeceased by her husband and is survived by her son, David Crandall of Baldwinsville; daughter, Kathy (Kevin) Rozelle of Dallas, TX; and 2 grand-children, Kayla and Ben Rozelle. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 29, at St Mary's Cemetery in Dewitt.Show more

Rita Jacobs

Age - 86

Rita Dawn Jacobs of Baldwinsville, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving husband Kenneth and their family on November 25, 2023. In her youth she sang in concerts with The Nightengales, became a nurse from Jamison Memorial Hospital. She meet Ken Jacobs, the love of her life, at the Dairybar in New Castle, PA and the two have been dancing ever since. Their song was "Could I have this dance," by Anne Murray as they slowed danced and jitterbugged through life. She always took care of everyone she met starting as a stay at home mom for her four children, working for years at C. W. Baker High school, and finishing her career as Executive secretary at K J Electric. Throughout her life she became "mom" to everyone she met and welcomed all into her home. She was a caring person that always saw the good in people. Her hobbies were baking, gardening and following their racehorses with her husband. She had a very special bond with her family, especially the grandkids, texting "grandma jokes", pictures and videos. It made her day and she made ours. Rita is predeceased by her parents, Burt R. and Meda (Robinson) McDeavitt; son, Bobby Jacobs; son-in-law, Raymond Honsinger III; and her siblings, Bud, Ricky, Lois, and Bonnie. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Kenneth E. Jacobs; daughters, Lorraine (Jeffrey) Lawrence, Carol Honsinger; son, Kenneth (Annmarie) Jacobs; daughter-in-law, Theresa Jacobs; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Michelle Harter Nicholls, 53, of Baldwinsville, passed away on Friday, due to complications from lung cancer. She was surrounded by family when she passed away. She was a straightforward, hardworking woman who loved her family, her friends, her nursing career and her pets. Professionally, Michelle was a nurse who took her job seriously. She was known for her skilled hands and a no-nonsense attitude that put her patients at ease. Michelle was respected by her colleagues and appreciated by her patients for her compassionate, competent care. When not in her nursing scrubs, Michelle enjoyed playing board games, crafting, Netflix, shopping on Temu, camping at the lake, and just hanging out with her family and close friends. These simple pleasures were the essence of Michelle's life. Her passing is a significant loss to her family, friends, and the local community. Michelle is survived by her husband Bryan Nicholls; son Alex (Lauren Stemetzki) VanMarter; mother Sue Fabello; brother Don Harter; sister Susan (Harter) Warner; nephew Kevin Vanhooser, niece Kristina (Harter) Wise, nephew Jacob Anderson and niece Zoey Warner. Michelle was the backbone of her family, a loving wife to Bryan and a supportive mom to her son Alex. She also had a soft spot for her two big dogs and 2 kitties, who will miss her dearly. She lived a good, honest life and will be remembered fondly by those who knew her. She touched all that crossed her path with smiles and love. Patricia Johnson

Patricia B. Johnson, 97, of Baldwinsville, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, entered into eternal life on November 12, 2023 at Syracuse Home. Born in Buffalo, NY, she grew up in Syracuse and in 1944 moved to Baldwinsville. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she married Albert (Toby) Johnson in 1948. She served on the board of trustees and was a member of the choir for many years. Over the years, Pat enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening and quilting. During retirement, she and Toby loved traveling throughout the west, Alaska and Canada. More recently, she and Toby spent many winter months in Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Johnson and son-in-law, Paul Richberg. She is survived by two daughters, Priscilla Richberg and Amy (Paul) Burkhart; two sons, Paul Johnson and Arnold (Pamela) Johnson, 13 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. The family is sincerely grateful to all of the staff at Syracuse Home for the wonderful care she received over the last few years. Allen Emm Sr

Allen J. Emm, Sr. , 84, of Baldwinsville, NY passed away on Friday at the Syracuse VA Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Syracuse, NY the son of the late Arthur J. and Elsie Emm. Al grew up in Baldwinsville, NY and attended C. W. Baker High School, Class of 1958. He was a talented athlete in many sports, especially baseball. In 2016, along with his son Art, were inducted together into the Baldwinsville Baseball Hall of Fame. After graduating, he enlisted in the US Air Force proudly serving his country. On November 26, 1966 he was united in marriage to the former Shirley E. Pratt, a blessed union of 57 years. Al enjoyed a life-long career as a Truck Driver working for many local companies, traveling in the Northeast. His hard work ethic earned him respect not only at work but at home. He was the "Rock" of the Emm family, always helping anyone is need and could fix anything. Al had a great sense of humor and was always supporting his children throughout sports and life. He was a member of the Teamsters Local # 317 and the Seneca River Fire Department. Al is predeceased by his three sisters; Catherine Rummerfield, Noma Schlacter and Sharon Wentworth. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Shirley E. Emm, his children; Jeff Kent, Darlene (Duane Bort) Emm, Art (Nia) Emm, AJ (Colleen) Emm, Jr. and Daryl Emm, his sister, Gladys Abbott, seven grandchildren affectionately known as; Jabber, Bambi, Mik, Spike, Whip, Ace and Sassy, eight great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary Beth Gadawski, 72, passed away November 9th, 2023 after a long illness. She will always be remembered for her love of her friends and extended family, both near and far and for being the glue that held them together! She had a beloved career of caring for special needs children who always remained a very large part of her heart. She was a lover of nature, art, books, sewing, refinishing, gardening and all things HGTV. She adored her family most and prided herself in making holidays and birthdays perfect. Beth was predeceased by her stepson Joshua Macmillan and her grandson Zachariah Haggett. She leaves behind her children, Johnathan (Brenda) Haggett and her daughter Micalla (Evan) Schroder. Suzanne R. Bender, 83, of Baldwinsville, passed away Thursday at home. Born in Beaver Falls, PA, she was raised in Buffalo and moved to Baldwinsville in 1962. Suzanne was a receptionist for Dr. Robert Wedemeyer in Baldwinsville for many years and a longtime volunteer at Community Hospital. She was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing, cooking, listening to music, and traveling to see new places. Suzanne loved spending time with her family and friends and was the "perfect hostess" of gatherings no matter how big or small. She was predeceased by her son, Gregory in 1984 and sister, Jane Stinneford in 2012. Surviving are her husband of 61 years, David; daughter, Rebecca (Gary) Mark of Baldwinsville; son, Andrew (Heather) Bender of Hollis, NH; sister, Mary Ann (Lawrence) Gustina of Buffalo; five grandchildren, Daniel, Trevor, Elise, Ethan, and Colin; and many beloved nieces and nephews. "Helen L. Osterhout, 92, of Syracuse, NY, passed away Monday October 9, 2023 at Syracuse Home Association in Baldwinsville. She was born in Syracuse to the late Nicol and Mary (Harkins) Anderson in 1930. Helen was receiver of taxes in the town of Geddes for 23 years. After retirement, Helen enjoyed spending time at her camp on Lake Ontario. She was a lifetime member of the Sandy Pond Sportsman Association. Ken and Helen also enjoyed spending winters at Cocoa Beach, Florida and Oak Island, NC with friends and family. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Kenneth in 2010. She was also predeceased by her brother, James Anderson and sister, Lexie Whelan. She is survived by her sister, Sheila Krause; children, Deborah (Phil) Liddiard, Karen (Allan) Sorensen, Vicki (Chris) Chao and Andrew Osterhout (Steve Collins); grandchildren, Shauna Sorensen, Ellen (Denzer) Campbell, Lauren (Tom) Cronin, Joe Chao and Cameron Chao; great grandchildren, Danica Rae Campbell and Clayton Thomas Campbell.
