They married in 1958 and settled in San Bernardino, California where they built a full and successful life together with their three daughters. Bert was a builder, friend, pillar of strength and, most of all, a loving brother, husband, father, uncle and grandfather. At the age of 22 he built the family their first home where he relocated his mother, Lucy and his sister, Dell, to live with the family. He will be remembered for his friendliness, his engaging smile and self-reliance. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved motorhome camping, deep sea fishing, hunting, water skiing, snow skiing, golf and Corvettes! He was a humanitarian who gave back to the community by supporting many organizations with his time and talent. He was also an adventurer who once drove a Petty race car at the Fontana Raceway! If you knew him, you loved him, and knew that he lived for his family. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; his sister, Dell; and his three daughters: Arlana, Gizelle & Rosalind. He was also so proud of each of his seven grandchildren who will continue to carry on his legacy: Brett, Christine, James Patrick, Alexa, Nathan, Perrin, and Chloe, as well as his nieces Collette and Robbyn and his nephew, Chad. Mass for Charles will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, October 13, 2023 at All Souls Chapel, 3510 E. Washington Street, Colton, CA 92324. Charles will be placed to rest after the Mass at All Souls Mausoleum A Song of Living by Amelia Josephine Barr "Because I have loved life, I shall have no sorrow to die. I have sent up my gladness on wings, to be lost in the blue of the sky. I have run and leaped with the rain, I have taken the wind to my breast. My cheek like a drowsy child to the face of the earth I have pressed. Because I have loved life, I shall have no sorrow to die.
