Charles W. Apt, 79 of Bryan, Ohio passed away after an extended illness on September 2, 2023 with his children by his side. He was a patient at the Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. Charles was born on July 28, 1944 in Montpelier, Ohio to LJ and Ila Mae (Winzeler) Apt. He attended Montpelier Schools and graduated in 1963. Charles was employed at Aro Corporation in Bryan, retiring in 2010 after 42 years of service. He was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church in Montpelier, Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Bryan and the Montpelier Moose. Charles had a passion for sports and coached Rotary Little League for seven years. He was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes football program, as well as the Cleveland Indians baseball team. He enjoyed his retirement and loved to travel with long-time companion Carol Radican. He enjoyed meeting with old friends and pals from his school days for coffee. Charles enjoyed sharing stories from his past and talking sports with anyone willing to listen. He is survived by his two sons Brian Apt of Columbus, Ohio and Bradley Apt of Montpelier. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, long time partner Carol Radican, brothers Donald and Richard Apt and his sister Shirley Brandeberry. A memorial service for Charles will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 12 pm at the Thompson Funeral Home in Montpelier with Reverend Ric Dye to officiate. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier. Visitation hours are prior to the service from 10-12pm. Lila Florence (Deepe) Kleinhen, 95, of Leesburg, Florida, and formerly of Bryan, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2023. She was born September 18, 1928, in Wayne County, Michigan to Alma (McClure) and Frederick Deepe. She was a graduate of Sherwood High School and Warner Beauty College of Toledo. She owned and operated a beauty salon in Sherwood, Ohio for a short time. She married Robert L. Kleinhen in 1948. He preceded her in death. Lila was active with him in farming in Bryan, Ohio, for 50 years. They had six children. Four of them preceded her in death. Duane, Daryl, Donald, and David. Diane (Robert) Dodge of Leesburg, Florida, and Deborah (Gary) Baker of Crystal Lake, Illinois survive. Daughter-in-laws, Sharon Witte, and Michelle Kleinhen both of Bryan, Ohio. Lila's sister, Mary (Edwin) Mast of Burbank, California, survives. Lila has nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. One grandchild, Jon Kleinhen preceded her in death. During her 50 years of marriage to Robert, they traveled extensively in the US and abroad, spending winters in Florida. Lila was a member of Union Chapel Church of God for 50 years. She was a lifetime member of Women's Ministries, Sunday School and Bible School teacher, church pianist, organist, and elder. She served for 10 years on the Mission Council of The Great Lakes Conference of the Churches of God. Through this she visited mission fields of India, Bangladesh, Haiti, and Navaho Nation in Arizona, Lila served on the board of Williams County Sanctuary and was a member of Jolly Homemakers and Sweet Adeline singer for eight years. While living in Florida, she became a member of the South Lake Christian Church and helped the ladies of Leesburg make quilts as a mission project. Lila loved God, her family, and everyone was a friend. Her lifetime mission was to be an Ambassador for Christ. Visitation for Lila will be held Monday, December 11, 2023, from 3:00 p. m. - 7:00 p. m. at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan. Phyllis J. Jolly, 89, of Bryan, Ohio passed away Monday, December 4, 2023, at Hillside Country Living, Bryan. Phyllis was born September 7, 1934, in Edon, Ohio, daughter of the late Charles and Ruth (Phillips) Vincent. She was a 1952 graduate of Bryan High School. Phyllis married Richard D. Jolly on July 17, 1953, in Bryan, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on January 18, 2017. She previously worked at Strydel and volunteered at Sauder Village. Phyllis was an active member of First Baptist Church, Bryan, where she was a member of the church choir. She had a passion for music and enjoyed singing for many funerals and weddings. In her free time, she enjoyed making quilts, reading, and studying the Bible. She was known by her family and friends as being loving, caring and competitive at board games. Surviving are her three children, Rodney Jolly of Wauseon, Ohio, Carol (Kenny) Meyers of LaFayette, Georgia, and Roger (Sherry) Jolly of Gloucester, Virginia; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson and one on the way. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Duane Jolly; son, Mark Jolly; sister, Elaine Ross; four brothers, Robert Lee Vincent; Norman Vincent, Gary Vincent, and Carl Vincent; daughter-in-law, Pam Jolly. Catherine Cecilia Warner "Cathy", 90, of Bryan, Ohio passed away Wednesday evening, November 8, 2023, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance. Catherine was born June 15, 1933, in West Unity, Ohio, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Barker) Ensman. Her former husband, the late Ted L. Warner, preceded her in death on August 17, 1984. Known as a tireless worker, Cathy labored in factories most of her life including The Ohio Art Company in Bryan, before retiring from LaChoy/ConAgra in Archbold in 1996. Never one to sit still, she took on duties at Bellaire Apartments in Bryan as an Office Manager and served in that capacity well into the latter years of her life. A devoted Catholic, Cathy was a member at St. Peter Catholic Church, Archbold. The church was her mainstay and she enjoyed being involved as best as she could so long as her health permitted. She spoke highly of those she knew from her church and praised those in the community who looked after her needs. She took great pride in her only child, William "Bill," and spoke to him often to include his wife, Judy and their children, John & Alicia. Those surviving her include William J. Warner with daughter-in-law, Judith A. Warner of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Two grandchildren, John (Bella) Warner of Fishers, Indiana, and Alicia (Colin) Fitzgerrel of Florence, Kentucky along with three grandsons, Nolan and Warner Fitzgerrel and Jasper Warner. Two sisters, Josephine Stratton, and Irene Kemp both of Bryan also survive. Cathy was preceded in death by her parents; former husband; three sisters, Marie Stantz, Betty Repp, and Margaret Schindler and two brothers, Charles Ensman, and Claude Ensman. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a. m. , Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at St. Peter Catholic Church, 614 North Defiance Street, Archbold with Father Bill Pifher officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the Mass at the church, beginning at 10:00 a. m. Ricky L. "Rick" Beck, 69, of Bryan, Ohio passed away Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Hillside Country Living, Bryan. Rick was born February 20, 1954, in Montpelier, Ohio, son of Jacob "Jake" and Virginia (Branham) Beck. He attended Montpelier High School. Rick previously worked for 20/20 Custom Plastics, Springfield Enterprises and Fergerson Tools. Rick attended Life Changing Church, Edgerton, Ohio. In his younger years, Rick was a competitive member of the NAPA Pool Leagues and enjoyed playing pool, coaching baseball, playing poker and training Martial Arts. Surviving are his three children, Free (Alisa) Beck of Eufaula, Alabama, Samuel (Michelle) Beck of Bryan, Ohio, and Autumn Beck of Bryan, Ohio; eight grandchildren; father, Jake Beck of Montpelier, Ohio; two sisters, Tina Shutts of Bryan, Ohio, and Julie Coulston of Clarksville, Tennessee; two brothers, Kenneth Beck of Bryan, Ohio, and Mike (Claudette) Beck, Sr. of Montpelier, Ohio; several nieces and nephews. Edward Lee (Ed) Baucom, 78, of Bryan, Ohio passed away October 20, 2023 at Hillside Country Living Center in Bryan, Ohio. He was born August 9, 1945 in Lebanon, Ohio a son of Marshall Hill Baucom and Dorothy Elaine (Daugherty) both of whom preceded him in death. On July 17, 1964 he married Susan K. Benner who preceded him in death on February 22, 1999. He is survived by his life companion Jo Hageman. Also surviving are 2 sons, Randy (Patti) Baucom of Lima, Michael (Renell) Baucom of Scottsdale, AZ and a daughter, Tina (Matthew) Hulbert of Van Wert, grandchildren: Kaleb Baucom. Chelsea Baucom, Hannah (Jacob) Braun, Jorian Baucom, Brooke (David) Mcmonigal and two great grandchildren, David Mcmonigal Jr and Carter Mcmonigal. . He is also survived by two brothers, Douglas and Mark and two sisters, Patsy and Brenda. Preceding him in death are three brothers Jerry, Roy and Milton and three sisters, Joyce, Cynthia, and Faith. Ed enjoyed listening to AC-DC and Journey. He was best described as being a happy, smiling man whose favorite things to do were mowing lawns and keeping his truck clean. He had worked for General Electric Company for 24 years and had also worked at Chrysler Amplex for a time. Junior Lautermilch, 84, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2023, at his residence. Junior was born July 14, 1938, in Camden, Michigan, the son of Glen and Harriette Delphus (Merrifield) Lautermilch. After school Junior enlisted in the United States Navy and received an honorable discharge. He married Mary Ellen Fireovid on December 16, 1966, and she preceded him in death on October 30, 2005. Junior was a machinist at Anderson-Vreeland for 35 years, retiring in 2003. Junior enjoyed building things and tinkering in his spare time. Surviving are four children, June Pearly of Bryan, Sue Lautermilch of Bryan, David (Jennifer) Lautermilch of Bryan and Laura (Jeff) Kosier of Bryan; 7 Grandchildren; 2 Great-Grandchildren; 1 Sister, Mildred Root of Quincy, Michigan.
