Graham–Michael "Mike" Dennis Laster, 68, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at his home. He was born on August 23, 1955 in Alamance County to the late Richard Basil Laster, Sr. and Gertrude Mae Perry Laster. Mike was married for over 36 years to the love of his life, Ann Jordan Laster, who survives. Mike was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and later retired from AO Smith as a machinist. He enjoyed fishing gardening and trips to the beach. Most importantly though, Mike loved spending time with his family. Whether it was sitting around a table enjoying a meal or just sitting catching up. Survivors other than his wife; Ann Jordan Laster, include his siblings; Jo Johnson, Pat Cassidy and husband Jimmy, Joyce Brady and husband, David, Debbie Laster and Richard Basil Laster, Jr. and wife, Sharon, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved fur babies; Loki, Jasper and Ezekiel Mike was preceded in death by his parents; Richard Basil Laster, Sr. and Gertrude Perry Laster as well as a niece; Teri Kerby. The funeral service will be held at 3:00pm Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Scott Ingram with the burial to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. John Henry Massey, 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at ARMC. He was born in Caswell County to the late Preston Phillip and Maggie Oakley Massey and was married for 68 years to Bobbie Mae Kernodle Massey who survives.John was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church and was previously employed by Carolina Paper Box Company and Old Dominion Paper. John was a Shriner and a member of the Honshu Lodge No. 8 AF & AM, Kunitachi, Japan. He enjoyed working on the farm, doing yardwork and taking care of the flowers with his wife. John was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who especially enjoyed spending time with all his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Mae, children, Johnny Massey, Jimmy Massey, Margaret Massey Dickey and husband Mike, Bobbie Ann Massey; grandchildren, Jonathan Massey and his wife Melissa, Preston Massey and his wife Samantha, Tommy Massey, Jessica Smith and her husband Caleb; great grandchildren, Jonathan Massey, Jr., Laila Massey, Tessa Mae Smith, Tallulah Jean Smith, Chris Tart and his wife Emily, Matthew and Michael Beagle. Graham, NC Christopher Clark Farrell, 54, of Graham, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on February 22nd, 2024 after a quick, but brutal, fight with pancreatic cancer. Chris was born on June 19th, 1969 in Alamance County to Clarence Wayne Farrell (deceased) and Mary Kathryn Farrell. Chris was a 1987 graduate of Southern Alamance High School where he was on the football team. He went on to be an avid fan of both high school and college sports. He ran a printing press for Holt Sublimation for 23 years and found his passion in helping people as a delivery driver for Neil Medical Group. Friends and family will remember him as the kind-hearted and smiley guy they grew up and spent their lives with. They will also remember his huge heart for animals and the beach. He is survived by his mother, Mary Kathryn Farrell; his brother, Hugh Farrell; his wife, Jennifer (Lynn) Simmons Farrell; his two daughters, Mary Katelyn (Katie) Farrell and Kristen Danielle Farrell (Blake Montgomery Williams); grandchildren, Athena May, Ashton Cole, and Ryder Wade; and his two dogs Beefy and Cobalt. He was welcomed with open arms into the gates of Heaven by his father and his grandson, Brexton Christopher-Wayne Williams. A memorial service will be held for Chris at Thrive Church Alamance (3041 Bellemont Mount Hermon Rd, Burlington, NC 27215) on March 3rd, 2024. The visitation will be from 3:00pm to 4:30pm. There will be a memorial service from 4:30pm to 5:00pm. He was a huge fan of the North Carolina Tar Heels. Lizzie was preceded in death by two sisters, Minnie L. Rowe and Jettie Rowe Mason; brother, Jimmie L. Rowe; and nephew, Kent A. Rowe. A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Sammy Russell, who survives and the daughter of Wesley Caulder and Gladys Ward Caulder, both deceased. Marie ran Graham Beauty Salon for over 20 years and later went back to school to learn a new skill and worked as a machinist for multiple manufacturing companies in Alamance County. In addition to her husband of their home, survivors include a son, Beau Russell and wife Allison, of Graham; daughter, Melanie Russell Jenkins and husband Cain of Graham; two grandchildren, Cole and Caitlyn Russell; brother, Steve Caulder and wife Judy. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Wesley Caulder. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at Bethel Baptist Church in Graham by Pastor David Jackson. Born in Alamance County, NC on April 23, 1948, he was the son of the late Marvin Eugene “Punk” Stout Sr. and Avenell Wood Stout. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Rebecca “Becky” Stout and his children, Greg Stout (Holly) and Amy Butler (Shannon) of Graham, NC. He was a proud Paw Paw to Will, Daniel, Jacob, Noah, Isaiah, and Luke. Bill is also survived by his brother, Marvin Eugene Stout Jr. Bill was a man that enjoyed a simple way of life. He was a 6th generation grain and cattle farmer. He enjoyed reading farming magazines, watching history movies, talking about guns, and discussing crops with his son Greg. His family and friends will miss him more than he will ever know. A graveside service will be conducted at Bethel Methodist Church in Snow Camp on Sunday, February 11, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends in the fellowship hall after the service. Ernest Jackson Harviel passed away surrounded by his family on February 5th, 2024, at Peak Resources in Graham, after several months of declining health. He was the son of the late Jay C. and Elizabeth Duncan Harviel. He is preceded in death by his brother, Dr. J. Duncan Harviel. Ernie is also preceded in death by his wife of over 40 years and the mother to his girls, Jolete Fuquay Harviel. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Long, and Nancy’s daughters Caroline Long and Charlotte Long Bryant (Charles) and Nancy’s granddaughter Beatrice Bryant. Ernie leaves behind his daughters, Jennifer Jolete Harviel McGill and her husband Jim, and Carrie Elizabeth Harviel Rawl and her husband Les. Ernie “Papa” will be greatly missed by his four grandchildren; Andrew Harviel McGill, George Duncan Rawl, Margaret Elizabeth Rawl and Brandt Jackson Rawl. He also leaves behind his step-grandchildren Jack McGill and Kate McGill. And he will be missed by his nieces Jennifer Cyrnak and Claire Buck (Matt) and his great nieces Grace Gilroy, Beatrix Buck and Tabitha Buck. Ginny graduated from West Genesee High School and attended Onondaga Community College. She loved to craft, shop, walk her dog Caesar, travel, and take cruises with her husband Chris. Proceeded by death is her husband, Christopher Jones, also her father, A. Joseph Thibeault. She is survived by her mother Fay Thibeault; her two children, Rhiannon Jones of Burlington, NC and John Jones of Lacey, WA. Three grandchildren, Demetric, MaKenzie, and Gavin. Siblings Janet (Terry) Reynolds, Brenda (Jim) Stever, Michael (Jean) Thibeault, and Stephen (Glen) Thibeault. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was a native of Alamance County and the daughter of the late James Franklin and Hannah Lou Horner Brooks. She was the wife of the late Charles "Chuck" Cagle. Jinnie retired as a warehouse manager of a mail order company. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting. She enjoyed working outdoors in her yard and her two dachshunds, "Artimus" and "Buster". Jinnie was a loving and devoted wife, "Momma" and "Mi Mi" and sister. She is survived by her daughter, Kristen Alvarado and husband, David of Graham; grandchildren, Cayden Alvarado and Savannah Alvarado; her sisters, Hellen Ellington of Eli Whitney and Wanda Davis of New Bern; her brothers, James Alvin Brooks and wife, Peggy of liberty and Jeff Brooks and wife, Twink of Saxapahaw; numerous nieces and nephews. He retired from Mebane Lumber Company and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. John loved working outside especially planting flowers and maintaining his lawn. Survivors include two sons, Barry Lewis and wife Sandra of Graham and Dennis Lewis and wife Lynne of Hickory; grandchildren, Jason Lewis and wife Joy, Chris Lewis and wife Jacki, and Alex Lewis; and great grandchildren, Jacob, Elijah, Avery, Natalie, Mallory and Harper.
