Anna Post

Anna Post

Age - 95

October 11, 2023

Our Joy, our comfort, our everything, our beautiful mother has left this world for the arms of our Savior, Jesus Christ, this 5th day of October 2023. Anna Marie Post (nee Kordela), long-term resident of Fairview Heights, passed away peacefully with her children at her side. Born to Polish immigrants on July 27, 1928, Anna began her life in East Saint Louis, Illinois and frequently spoke with deep fondness for life on Bowman Avenue. Anna attended Saint Adalbert Catholic grade school and then onto East Side High School. She grew into a beautiful woman and married her husband, Bert Howard Post in 1949. This union produced six children who became the center of life for this young mother. A mother she was, as she truly loved babies and children. God gifted her with kindness, patience, honesty, generosity of spirit, and above all, a sweetness of soul. Anna worked hard to provide for her family and loved to cook family dinners. Each Sunday was very special with "Mom's fried chicken legs" and mashed potatoes. Needless to say, to this day, even the grandchildren know about her fried chicken and other Polish specialties. She had a way of making Christmas at her home so very wonderful and warm with the entire family traveling to Grandma's house to see each other and talk and play and just have fun. Mom would decorate the house with lights and table settings and such gorgeous Christmas trees. It was pure joy. Throughout the decades, Anna managed restaurants and touched the lives of many teenagers, who felt her compassion and sincere concern for them. She would provide meals to many a young person and at the same time, offer them a friendly smile and, when needed, some motherly advice. Anna was deeply loved and admired by all those kids. Anna found great comfort in her grandchildren. There were many of them and her time on this earth allowed for creating loving relationships with each child. Anna was so very proud of her grandchildren. She watched them prosper and grow. Then came the great-grandchildren. The love and tenderness for the newest family members knew no bounds. Each child was instantly loved and considered a special gift. Anna is preceded in death by her parents, Mary Tekla Kordela (nee) Krypciak) and Aloysius Kordela, sisters: Loretta Beranek (George), Sophie Brombolich (John), Ottilia Zielinski (John), Anastasia DeNap (John) and Jane M. Kordela and bothers, Eugene John Kordela and Walter Kordela. Anna's husband, Bert Howard Post passed away in 2005 after 55 years of marriage. Anna is survived by her six children: Mary Ann Post of Fairview Heights, Illinois, Kathleen Choate of Belleville, Illinois, Diane Wooters (Thomas) of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Betty Jane Scholin (Michael) of North Oaks, Minnesota, James Patrick Post (Carol) of O'Fallon, Illinois and Rozanne Simpson of Troy, Illinois. Surviving grandchildren include James Faulbaum (Robyn), Timothy Faulbaum (Heather), Michael Wooters (Kim), Rebecca Choate, Elizabeth Choate, Zachary Choate (Rachel), Jessica Mathison (Tate), Sarah Swehla (Brad), Gregory Scholin (Taylor), Jacob Scholin (Hannah), Robert Simpson III (Sarah), Christopher Simpson (Mikyla) and Julia Hayen (Erich). Anna's legacy of children lives on with her great-grandchildren, Jadah, Madeline, Evan, Owen, Gavin, Harper, Avery, Nixon, Cameron, Adeline, Jett, and Oscar. Anna is further survived by many nieces and nephews and family friends and neighbors. The family would like to acknowledge Vitas Hospice for the constant care and attendance to Anna over the past year. The CNAs were a comfort and provided the extra smiles as they were always welcomed and needed. Anna and Vitas team leader, Josh, became good friends and shared many laughs together. Lastly, the family would like to thank nurse, Daniela Boles, who provided the extra care Anna required during the last couple of months. Dani was just the spark mom needed to get through the difficult days. The Post family requests privacy during this difficult time of grieving. Lake View Funeral Home will be assisting the family with services. Interment of Anna's remains will be at Jefferson Memorial Cemetery with immediate family members at a future date. The family request prayers offered for all those suffering throughout the world, especially little children. We love you, Mom. Thank you for everything. You will live in our hearts forever. After all, you were our joy, our comfort, our everything.Show more
