Cecelia Shaheen Obituary

Cecelia Anne Shaheen, 91, passed away at home on May 5, 2023, surrounded by her family. Anne was one of 10 children born to Albert Henry and Anna Ethel Snyder. She was raised in Akron, Ohio, where she attended St. Mary's grade school and high school. She met her husband of nearly 71 years, Fred Shaheen, outside of Wolfe's Confectionery on Thorton Street in Akron, in 1950, and they married 18 months later, July 12, 1952. Anne and Fred had two children together, Fred Shaheen, Jr. , and Lisa Shaheen, whom she loved dearly. Anne was known for her bold style and incredible sense of fashion. She had a determined nature and taught us so many things that will be carried on including the always parting reminder to "go carefully. " She was a devout Catholic and found peace in the reciting of the rosary. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Kathleen (Snyder) Mikulin; as well as brothers, Robert Snyder, John William Snyder, Thomas Snyder, Richard Snyder and Joseph Snyder. She is survived by her husband and children, as well as sisters Mary Patricia (Pat Snyder) Gingo, Marguerite (Peg Snyder) Searle, and brother Donald Snyder. She is also survived by her grandchildren Maizie Cecelia and Sonny Brent Shaheen-Andes, who brightened her day whenever she saw them. A special thank you to Kathy Milo and Nikki Steele, who provided loving companionship and care, which Anne very much appreciated. The family will receive visitors 10-11a. m.
