Cathy Martin Obituary

Cathy Lenora Martin, 68, of Little Elm, Texas passed away on April 30, 2023. She was born in Evansville, Indiana, on May 23, 1954, to Thomas and Addie Odessa (Carter) Meriwether. Cathy grew up in Compton California and attended ElSegundo Elementary, Vanguard Jr. High, Centenial Senior High and Compton College. Cathy earned the title of "Meemaw" when her first grandchild was born & had made her staple as "Meemaw" to everyone she encountered since! One of her favorite pastimes was crochet! Making "Meemaw Blankets and scarves" was her signature. She loved to laugh and joke. When she talked to loved ones on the phone, before ending any call, it was customary to give her some "smooches", "muah-muah-muah" is the only way she would hang up the phone. She is survived by her daughter, Asia Miller Hughs of Little Elm, Tx. , sons, Joshua Martin of Irving, Tx. , and Jonathan Edward Martin of Dallas, sister, Cynthia Daniels of California, Tara Orr of Washington, Latorsha Carter of California, brothers, Virgil Carer, of California, Darell Meriwether, Sr. , of Washington, and Trent Meriwether of Washington, and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Earl Martin, her mother and father, sisters, JoAnn Meriwether, Debra Meriwether, and brother, Thomas Meriwether Jr. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors.
