The loving family of James (Jim) Michael Winz are saddened to announce his passing on February 16, 2024. Jim was a loving partner, father, brother, and son. Born to Max James Winz and Susan Lee Winz of Lisle, Illinois, Jim was the oldest of their five children. Jim was a committed and loving partner to Julie Puls of Naperville who’s love, commitment, and care for Jim brightened his world until the very end. He is survived by his sons, James Michael Winz, Jr. (17) and Jonah Ryan Winz (15) and their mother, Bridget (O’Reilly) Winz. Jim is also survived by his loving mother, Susan Lee Winz, brothers Daniel Lee Winz and Stephen Andrew Winz, his sisters Robin Elizabeth Winz and Jocelyn Winz (Eric) Jones, as well as his nephews Danny Winz and Paxton Jones and his niece Delaney Winz. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Max James Winz. Jim loved his hometown of Lisle and had fond memories of playing football and wrestling for the Lisle Lions. Jim excelled at both— even receiving a scholarship to play football for Illinois State University. In recent years Jim has enjoyed watching both his sons grow up and become wrestlers themselves. His greatest pride and joy are his boys, and his greatest regret is missing them grow into the great men they are becoming. Jim was a man of great faith and would ask that you pray for his sons to be watched over and lifted up by the love and support of God, family, and their community. Services will be held Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the Resurrection Church of the Fox Valley, 4054 Fox Valley Center Dr, Aurora, IL 60504, with a private Celebration of Life following the service. She was a homemaker and enjoyed needlepoint, cross stitch, all types of word games; Helen was very active at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Pekin which she was a member for many years, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Nora Jane (nee Shelton) Patton, age 85, formerly of Joliet, IL, died peacefully on February 14, 2024 at Edward Hospital in Naperville, IL. She was born on June 18, 1938 to the late Margaret Ann and Hubert Pat Shelton.  She was born and raised in Harrisburg, IL, graduated Harrisburg High School in 1957, and moved to Joliet, IL in 1966.  Nora had a colorful personality and the gift of gab.  She worked for many years at Rust Craft Greeting Card Company in Joliet and later in life was a successful telemarketer.  She loved shopping for clothes and accessories, reading romance novels and rooting for the Chicago Cubs.  She is preceded in death by her parents, her son, Philip Patton, her daughter, Amy Arias-Proper, her sister-in-law who she regarded as a sister, Janice Shelton, and her nephew Jason Shelton.   She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Kris) Rossmiller of Plainfield IL, her brother, Jerry Shelton of Elizabethtown IL, and her three grandchildren, Alexia Arias, Michael and Katie Rossmiller.  She also leaves behind cherished nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends who graced her life.   Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial will be held privately.

He was born on June 5, 1938, in Woodstock, IL, the son of William Barrett and Rose Marie (nee Cafferty) Barrett.Beloved husband of Kathryn Barrett (nee Horak), whom he married June 3, 1961, loving father of Maureen (Mark) McNicholas, Elizabeth (Thomas) Stibbe, Patrick (Catherine Elise) Barrett, Margaret (Blake) Chapin and Barbara (James) Cook, adored grandfather of Rebecca (Ryan Garrett) McNicholas and Kathleen (Thomas Vaccaro) McNicholas; Trevor (Amanda) Stibbe and Spencer Stibbe; Parker, Mason, Holden and Sydney Chapin; Samantha (Zeb) Walker, Nathan and Jessica Cook, dear brother of John Barrett, the late William (Sally) Barrett and the late James Barrett, fond uncle of Susan Barrett and William “BJ” Barrett, friend of many.Deacon Mike was a graduate of Saint Mary's University of Winona, MN with a major in Mathematics and minors in Theology, Philosophy, German, English and Education. He earned a master’s degree in Pastoral Studies from Loyola University, Chicago, IL.Deacon Mike began his work career as a teacher at Marion Central Catholic in Woodstock and while taking his students to the University of Illinois on Saturdays for classes in computer usage he had conversations with a gentleman who was an officer of International Harvester. That was the start of eighteen years of being a member of the technical staff, and eventually, Corporate Supervisor of Software Implementation and Maintenance. This was followed by seventeen years as a member of the Technical Staff at Lucent-Alcatel. He also served as a chaplain at the University of Illinois Hospital & Clinics (UIC Medical Center), Chicago.Deacon Mike was a former member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Lisle, IL and St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Naperville and was a current member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Naperville, IL, where he served on the parish council, school board, parish CHRP, marriage & baptism preparation, RCIA sponsor and lector. Rev. Donald C. Kocher, age 93, passed away peacefully into the everlasting love of God on February 13, 2024 at St. Patrick’s Residence, Naperville. He was born on December 18, 1930 in Aurora, IL.Growing up on his family farm in Naperville, Don attended a one-room schoolhouse and SS. Peter & Paul Grade School. He graduated from Naperville High School and returned to the family farm. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country during the Korean War. After his military service he attended the University of Illinois before answering the call to the priesthood. He completed his formal studies at Conception Abbey Seminary in Conception, MO. He was ordained on May 25, 1963 and was first assigned to Visitation Parish, Elmhurst. He then served at St. Petronelle, Glen Ellyn (1966-1970), Immaculate Conception, Morris (1970-1977), St. Matthew, Glendale Heights (1977-1981), St. Isaac Jogues (1981-1993), St. Pius X, Lombard (1993-1995), Good Shepherd Manor, Momence, (2000-2005) and St. Joan of Arc, Lisle (2005-2017). He retired to St. John Vianney Villa in Naperville. In 2019, Father Don made St. Patrick’s Residence his home, where he had celebrated Daily Mass for the residents and their families for many years prior. Throughout his life he enjoyed traveling, bicycling and socializing with friends. May he rest in peace!Father Don is survived by his two sisters, Arlene (Ron) Brands, and Lucille “Cile” Kocher; two brothers, Alvin (Joan) Kocher, and Charles “Chuck” (Nancy) Kocher; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cletus and Lucy Kocher; three brothers, Richard “Dick” Kocher, Harold “Fritz” Kocher and Delmar “Del” Kocher; two sisters, Shirley Grant, and Diane Bohnstedt.For those who would like to leave a lasting tribute to the life of Rev. Donald C. Ruth was born to Carl and Elfriede Schwalm and resided in Chicago until moving to Naperville in 1973.Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip J. McCarthy. She is survived by her children, Linda (Greg) Klawitter, Pat (Fritz) Brown and Paul (Debbie) McCarthy. Ruth dearly loved her grandchildren, Amy (Michael) Freitag, PJ Brown, Sarah (Simon) Schwindt and Megan (Daryth) Hammond. She was additionally blessed with great-grandchildren, James Freitag, Sophie Freitag, Grace Schwindt, Emily Schwindt, Averie Hammond and Lyla Hammond. Ruth cherished her late brother Carl Schwalm and his family; wife Marilyn (deceased), their children, David (Ashley) Schwalm (their children Brendan, Autumn and Olivia) and Chris (Bryan) Culp (their children Michaela and Mackenzie).Ruth was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lisle. She also spent many years working various retail establishments in Naperville.
