David L. Evans, 86, formerly of Bradley, Illinois, died Monday, February 26, 2024, at Genesis East-Campus, Davenport. David was born February 12, 1938, in Kankakee, Illinois, to Adolf and Madalyn (St. Pierre) Evans. He attended North Central College where he played football. David then served in the U.S. Army. Soon thereafter, he married his true love, Erva Kettleson in 1958. The couple raised their children, David Jr., and Lisa, in Kankakee, later moving to Morris, finally residing in Bradley. David worked in the Chicagoland area as a successful sales professional. Erva preceded him in death on August 5, 2009. He later married Patricia DeCarlo. She preceded him in death in 2017. David was an avid and skilled amateur golfer, winning countless tournaments with 17 verified holes-in-one. Surviving are his children, David (Jeanie) Evans Jr., and Lisa (Steve) Turrell; grandchildren, Matthew, David III “D.J.”, Thomas, and Ashley Evans, and Chad and Andy Turrell; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Karen Campbell, John (Barb) Evans, and Pamela Perrsson. In addition to his wife Erva, and his second wife, Pat, he was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Judith (Roger Sr.) Strode, and brother-in-law, Michael Perrsson. In lieu of flowers or other gifts, those wishing to honor Dave should play a round of golf and think of his memory. Eric Jon Smith, 52, passed away on February 21, 2024 at his home in Davenport, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Monday, March 4, 2023 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island, with a graveside service to follow at 1:00 pm at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Those wishing to attend the graveside service can meet at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave, Rock Island by 12:30 pm. Memorials may be left in care of the family for an organization to be designated at a later date. Eric was born May 18, 1971 to Jon and JoEvelyn (Eggimann) Smith. Eric graduated from Kewanee High School, Class of 1989. He enlisted in the Kewanee National Guard Armory in May 1989. While serving he was deployed to active duty in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Eric was proud to be a Soldier and to serve the People of the United States. Eric is survived by his children, Kayli, Kaleb, Kody, Tyson, Mia and Silas; grandson, Weston; parents, Jon (Brenda) Smith; brother, Christopher (Nicole) Smith; grandparents, Pat (Sam) Henson; aunts, Lauri (Dave) Mueller and Lisa Smith; and uncles, David Smith and Ed (Betty) Eggimann. He graduated from Assumption High School and was a 1993 graduate of Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He married Susan Lubiano on July 19, 1997, whom he shares a daughter, Colleen, with. Tim practiced veterinary medicine for 28 years, retiring from the USDA in 2021. In his free time, he loved creating in his wood working shop, gardening, doing crosswords, and reading. He had a love for knowledge and never stopped learning outside of the classroom. Survivors include his wife, Susan; daughter, Colleen; and sisters-in-law Helen (Baker) Morrissey and Barb (Egger) Morrissey. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers John Morrissey Jr., Mgsr. Michael Morrissey, and Patrick Morrissey.

Carolyn was born on December 19, 1938 in Newton, IA to Lenard and Zella (Woods) Kane. Her family relocated to Bettendorf in the 1940. She graduated from Bettendorf High School in 1958. Carolyn was united in marriage to Wayne K Swanson on May 20, 1961. He preceded her in death on February 17, 2024. Carolyn worked for Peterson Harned Von Maur and Kmart Corporation for 22 years. She retired in 1995. Carolyn loved her family, reading a good book, cooking great meals for her family and she loved her Iowa Hawkeyes. Survivors include her children, Jeffrey Swanson of Buffalo, IA, Christine Jordan, Catherine Swanson and Caryn Swanson all of Davenport; seven grandchildren, Joshua, Andrew, Brigham, Bryce, Stephanie, Miranda, Sarah; ten great grandchildren; siblings, Bill Kane of Princeton, IA, Larry Kane of Bettendorf, IA, Marvin Kane of Bettendorf, IA, Dan Kane of Woodhull, IL, Connie Fleetwood of Bettendorf, IA, and Verna Goddard of Escondido, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers and son, Gary Swanson.

Kevin was born May 8, 1958, the son of Lewis and Dorothy Brown in Clinton, IA. On June 10, 1993 he was united in marriage to Janet Guinn in Davenport, IA. He worked as a handyman for most of his life. Kevin was a kindhearted man who touched a lot of lives. He enjoyed going fishing, hunting, and NASCAR. He was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Those left to honor his memory are his loving wife of 32 years, Janet Brown; mother, Dorothy Brown; son, Dennis (Rebecca) Pulse of Davenport, IA; daughter, Tabitha Brown of Davenport, IA; and grandchildren, Corvin, Vedalyn, Destiny, and Bentley. He was preceded in death by his father; grandson, Aidan; brothers, Steve and Mark; and sister, Martha.

Steven E. Michaud, 71, Moline, IL passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport, IA. On Sunday, March 3, 2024 there will be a visitation from 12-2:00 PM with military honors presented by Milan American Legion Post 569 following at 2:00 PM at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Steve was born on August 28, 1952 in Central Falls, Rhode Island to Madeleine (Sylvester) and Emery Michaud Jr. After high school, he served in the United States Army. Steve was a man of many trades throughout his career and retired as an insurance agent. On October 7, 2014 Steve married Melissa (Buckles) in Davenport, IA and inherited another big family. Together they adopted a yorkie, Teddy, who was Steve’s best buddy. Steve and Melissa enjoyed bowling, golfing, casino trips, going on picnics with Teddy and having fun on many adventures. Steve was one who would do anything for anybody and made everyone he met smile. Online condolences may be left at rungemortuary.com. Shirley was born April 26, 1939 in Pinewood, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Frank and Irene Barge. She was a strong-headed woman who grew up in the backwoods hunting, and trapping for food and even would ski to get to her one-room schoolhouse. She owned and operated Shirl’s Cleaning Collection for numerous years before retiring. Shirley loved going to the casinos where she loved to pull the slots. She loved Country music and was gifted with the ability to play numerous instruments including: accordion, guitar, steel guitar, organ and the banjo, all while being self-taught. She was proud to be a member of the Country Music Association. Known for her fun loving and joking style, people referred to her as “Squirrely Shirley.” Her greatest joy was spending time with her sons and especially her grandchildren. She was blessed to have a special relationship with each one and they will carry on her legacy proudly. Those left to honor her memory include her sons: Robert C. (Annette) House, Jr, New Mexico; Daniel House, Davenport and Kevin (Julie) House, Clinton; grandchildren: Dustin, Mackenzie, Noah, Jonelle, Brandon, Joseph, Rita and Kim. Her parents, sister, Janice Biddle and brother, Gene Barge preceded her in death.

Robert F Kappeler, 95, of Davenport, IA, passed away Friday, February 23, 2024 at his home. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.Bob was born on December 19, 1928, the son of Frank and Malinda (Untiedt) Kappeler in Pleasant Prairie, Iowa. He graduated from Davenport High School with the Class of 1946. Bob married Arline Meier on February 11, 1950 in St. Marks Lutheran Church, Davenport. Arline passed away on January 31, 2021.Bob farmed in rural Davenport for many years. He later sold cars for Vincent J. Neu, retiring in 1990. After retirement, Bob worked at Kappeler Tree Farm. Bob helped build and was part owner of Suburban Lanes Bowling Alley, Davenport.Bob enjoyed the outdoors, especially taking motorcycle trips across the United States and Canada with his wife, Arline and good friend Red Haiston. He loved boating and water skiing at Lake of the Ozarks and spending time in his timber. They also spent many Saturday nights attending dances at the Walcott Coliseum and playing cards with friends. Bob will be dearly missed by two children, Kim Kappeler of Davenport, Iowa and Kari (Kevin) Ehrecke of Ames, Iowa; three grandchildren, Kara (Jesse) Clark, Cory Ehrecke, and Kacie Ehrecke; three great granddaughters, Harper, Quinn and Mae Clark; and one sister, Marlene "Tootie" Kaczinski of Eldridge.Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Arline; an infant son, Rick; and brothers and sister, Wayne Kappeler, Myron Puck and Maxine Warnecke.
