Carolyn Sitz Vecchio, 76, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2023 in Ft. Worth, TX after a long battle with cancer. Memorial service will be held at Wiley Funeral home Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 2pm in Granbury, TX. Carolyn was one of two children born to Julia Mae Sitz and Eugene Sitz on May 26, 1947 in Cleburne, Texas. From the beginning Carolyn was a firecracker that stood out among the rest. She had a whirlwind romance in California with the father of her two children James Newport Jr and Samantha Valosek before meeting and marrying the love of her life Thomas Vecchio in Granbury October of 1998 where they built and shared a beautiful life together before his passing in 2014. She was a strong, caring, passionate wildflower that fought hard all throughout her life all the way to the end. She had a flair for life and once upon a time you could catch her playing dress up while owning her antique store or making fresh bouquets of flowers at a flower shop. She loved all animals and critters and even fostered and bottled fed baby squirrels. She was a collector of antiques with a unique eye for design which you could see in her personal style, home, or contributions to friends. Carolyn was a force in this life and left a lasting impression on all of those who knew her. She was as colorful and beautiful as a fresh flower arrangement and bright and uplifting as a rainbow after rain. She will be missed and remembered by so many that knew and loved her. She is survived by her brother Tony Sitz; daughter Samantha Valosek, son in law Terry Valosek, grandson Fox Valosek; granddaughter Taylor Newport, her husband Javier Newport; step daughters Laura Mason and family, Kimberly Walker and family; and her fur baby cat daughter Sissy.

Dusty Gail (Sanders) Miller, 47, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away unexpectedly on November 23, 2023. Visitation will be held from 10 A. M. until 11 A. M. , on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the Wiley Funeral Home, 400 377 East in Granbury. Funeral servicescelebrating her life will follow at 11 A. M. , Saturday, at the funeral home. Dusty's wishes are to then be cremated and her ashes to be spread at sea. Dusty was born on April 16, 1976, in Cleburne, Texas to Tony and Linda (Laxton) Sanders. She attended and graduated from Granbury High School in May of1994. She then went on to attend Tarleton State University and the University of North Texas. She later married Chris Miller on March 1, 2019 . She was amember of the City Church of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Dusty enjoyed traveling,event planning, doing various crafts and had a great passion for cruising theocean. She was kind, generous and loved taking family vacations. Most of all Dusty will be remembered for her beautiful smile and her ability to make peoplelaugh. Dusty is survived by her husband, Chris Miller, her daughter Carson Sanders-Hurth both of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; her stepdaughters Ashlynn and Brittany Miller of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her parents Tony Sanders and Linda Benware of Granbury, Texas; her sister Christy Bright and husband Jeremy also of Granbury, Texas; her grandmother Charlene Sanders of Ada, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews and many other family and friends.Show more

Jesse Jenkins

Age - 83

Jesse D. Jenkins, sometimes called Denney, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023. Memorial service will be held at Acton Methodist Church at 11:00 am on Friday, December 8, 2023. Jesse was born on September 23, 1940 to Jesse Sr. and Frances Morton Jenkins. He graduated from high school in Lamesa. He briefly attended McMurry College before joining the United States Navy. He served as a medic at a base in Corpus Christi. After the Navy, Jesse was undecided about his next career move, and he tried his hand as a used car salesman, insurance salesman, and construction foreman. He began working as a carpenter at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and attended night classes at San Antonio College. He was studying business. After encouragement from dentists at the UT Health Science Center, Jesse began to consider dentistry as a profession. He became a Texas UTHSC dental student in August 1981 at the ripe old age of 41. He was elected class president all four years of his dental education. He graduated in May 1985 and gave a commencement speech at the graduation ceremony. Jesse was in private practice in Odessa, Texas from 1985 to 1988. Jesse's greatest love, however, was teaching dentistry to senior students at Baylor College of Dentistry from 1988 to 2000. Jesse concluded his career as Director of Dental Services at Bonham VA. Jesse was an avid reader, especially about World War II and the American Civil War. He enjoyed traveling to Civil War battle sites and a trip to the Holy Land. One of his favorite pastimes was playing his guitar, writing songs, and singing his songs for others. He would sing at many venues, nursing homes, church events, front porches, back patios and any time for friends and family. Jesse is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jan Hunter Jenkins. He is also survived by his son Jordan, grandson Jesse P. , nephews, Mitch, Chuck and John Gregory Jenkins. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that remembrances be made to Alzheimer's Association North Central Texas Chapter.Show more

Delight Lee, 85, of Nemo, Texas, passed away on Sunday morning, December 3, 2023, in Fort Worth. A gathering will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023 at 11:00 AM, at the Wiley Center, 420 Highway 377 East in Granbury. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 1P. M, Friday, at the Wiley Center. Burial will be private at a later date. Delight was born on September 13, 1938, in Toledo, Ohio to the late Ray and Viola Wotring. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends and reading. A passionate equestrian, Delight both trained and showed horses. She was a member of the National Cutting Horse Association. Delight is survived by her son, Tom and his wife Jenny; and by her grandchildren, Krystyn Lee and Jordan Buchanan. In addition to her parents, Delight was preceded in death by her husband, Paul McGinnis and by her sister, Mary Iveson.Show more

Mattie Murl Bishop, 94, our beloved Mother, Mimi and Aunt went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 1, 2023, at BeeHive Homes of Granbury. She was born to Cora R. Cheek Smith and Thomas M. Smith, August 8, 1929, in Albany, Texas. She married the late Albert Coolidge (A. C. ) Bishop on April 4, 1947. They made a loving home for their son, Albert Joe Bishop in Pecos, Texas. She was a long-time resident of Pecos, Texas and loved her work as one of the Vice Presidents at Security State Bank until her retirement in 1994. Her two joys and loves of her life are her son and granddaughter, Leelyn Bishop. She is survived by her son, Albert and daughter in law, Sherry of Granbury, Texas; granddaughter, Leelyn Bishop of Lubbock, Texas; brother, Joe L. Smith and wife, Sarah of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; niece, Anna Hoyt Vogel and husband, George; nephews, Mark Smith and wife, Irina and Tommy Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Ann Hendricks and brother, Bob Smith. Graveside services and interment will be held at 11:00 A. M. on Friday, December 8, 2023, at Mount Evergreen Cemetery in Pecos, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to your favorite charity in her name.Show more

Robert Dean Stringer, 79, beloved husband, father and grandfather, of Granbury, passed away early on Monday, November 27, 2023, at his home. A memorial gathering will be held from noon until 1 P. M. , on Monday, December 4, 2023, at the Wiley Funeral Home, 400 Highway 377 East in Granbury. A memorial service celebrating his life will follow at 1 P. M. , Monday, at the funeral home. Burial will be private at a later date. Robert was born on December 8, 1943, in Fort Worth, Texas to the late Embert L. and Estella Stringer. He married Sandra Coleman on December 27, 1973 and together had three children, Tammy, Alishea, and James. He was a Past Master in the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed tinkering with anything mechanical and was always curious and creative! He was both a gunsmith and gun collector. Additionally, Robert was an avid railroad enthusiast. Robert is survived by his wife, Sandra; his children, Tammy Owen and husband, Arlan, Alieshea Castillo, and James Allen Stringer and wife, Jeanette Dixon; his grandchildren, Aaron and wife Chrstina, Mary and husband Joshua, Christopher, Michael, Aiden, Flicia, Ashley, Ericka, Graham and Sabine; his great-grandchildren, Alex, Riley, Madelyn, Joah, Julian, Avery, Rose, Mason, Celestine, and Bella; his sister Enid Rea Edgeworth and husband, Charles; and by 2 nieces and one nephew. STEPHEN JAMES ARLINGTON Granbury, Texas - Stephen James Arlington died November 29, 2023 at age 79 of natural causes. At his specific request he has been cremated and there will be no service of any kind. Stephen was born May 24, 1944 in Rochester, NY to James H. and Elsie Mae Arlington. He was raised in the Town of Greece, a Rochester suburb, and attended public schools there. At age 17 Stephen joined the Navy and served in the nuclear submarine USS Ethan Allen (SSBN608) as a nuclear reactor plant operator. After nine years of active duty he transferred to the Naval Reserve from which he subsequently retired as a Master Chief Petty Officer with nearly 30 years total service. In May 1965 Stephen married his one true love and very best friend Mary Ellen LeBlanc. They spent 58 years together getting to know one another. During this process they had two fine sons, Kevin and Keith, and three grandchildren, Nate, Hannah and Gaby. Stephen received a BS in Business Administration (cum laude) from the Rochester Institute of Technology. He then graduated (cum laude) from Albany Law School in Albany, NY. Stephen practiced Law in Albany, initially as an Assistant District Attorney, then in private practice until his retirement. He held memberships in various Bar Associations and community organizations.Show more

Rudy Lynn Watson was born on June 10,1942 in Frederick, Oklahoma to his parents Bert Leroy Watson and Anna Louise Watson. He was raised in Ft Worth, Texas where he met and married his wife of 55 years, Vicki Diana Passmore Watson. Together they raised 2 children, Aimee Lyn Watson Flournoy and Benjamin Andrew Watson. Rudy graduated from Birdville High School in Ft Worth, TX and graduated college at Howard Payne University. Rudy loved serving in many areas including church music ministry, jail ministry, hospice chaplain work, and 35 years of service to The Promise in Glen Rose. He is survived by his wife, Vicki Watson, his daughter Aimee Flournoy and husband Lendel Flournoy, his son Benjamin Watson and wife Melanie Watson, and 8 grandchildren: Miranda Addari and husband Sebastian Addari, Mikayla Watson, Avery Watson, Brooke Watson, Camryn Watson, Levi Watson, Bailey Coker, and Nick Coker and great grandbaby, Sylas Addari due in a few days. Jack W. Giles, 86, passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2023. Memorial Service: 2:00 PM, Friday, December 1, 2023, Martin's Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time at Martin's Funeral Home. Jack was born on January 13, 1937 to Guy and Pearl Giles. He graduated from high school in Wichita Falls and from Texas Tech in Lubbock. He proudly served his country in the United States Marines. He was a math teacher and football coach with the Arlington Independent School District, Lamar High School, and Sam Houston High School. He worked for General Dynamics in the early 1970s on the F-111 project. He was a drivers ed teacher for 25 years, a tax preparer, a football referee, and a baseball coach. Jack enjoyed taking his family camping every summer. His favorite sports teams were the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Tech college football and the Texas Rangers. His favorite singers were Marty Robbins, Hank Williams Sr and Jr and Willie Nelson. Jack is survived by his son Brent Giles and his wife Donna Giles (Shannon), and his daughters Gina Nelson and Suzanne Giles.Show more

Thomas Edward Smitherman, Jr. , 68, beloved father, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 in his Granbury home. A committal service celebrating his life will be held in Alabama at a later date to be announced. Thomas was born on August 23, 1955 in Jemison, Alabama to the late Thomas and Hazel Smitherman. He will be remembered as being a 'master mechanic' and as a 'person who could fix anything. ' Thomas particularly enjoyed working on Hotrods. He will affectionately be remembered for his sense of humor. Thomas is survived by his daughters, Crisie and husband Joe Isbell, Jennifer Quinnell, and Samantha Smitherman; his grandchildren, DJ Davis, Jasmine Mallory, Stormy Isbell, Melody-Rose Quinnell, Christian James Quinnell, Savannah Nelson, Autumn McElya, Dalton Smitherman and Montana Dixon; and by his siblings: Janice, Judy, Eugene, Laura, Barbara, & Kenny.
