Mary Ann (nee McRoberts) Toney, a devoted mother, a grandma, a great-grandmother, and a friend, departed peacefully on February 16, 2024, at the age of 87. She was born on July 17, 1936, to James & Lottie McRoberts in Cincinnati, OH.Mary Ann was fondly called Gram by her family. She was a retiree from the University of Cincinnati, loved crafts, and, most of all, was a great avid fan of Elvis. She was a happy and fun lady to be with and was active in her "Red Hats" & "Crafts" groups in Florida and Cincinnati. She had the biggest heart for children, including her friends' grandchildren. She brought love and joy into the lives of all who knew her.Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Homer Toney (2019), and leaves behind her two sons, Jim (Leslie, deceased) & Bob (MaryAnn), with grandchildren Britney, Sam & Russell, great-grandchildren Hunter, Madison & London and sisters Janet McRoberts & Nancy Cytraus. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.Though Mary Ann may no longer be with us in body, her spirit will live on in the melodies of Elvis and the beauty of her handcrafted creations.A funeral service in Mary Ann's honor will be held on Saturday, March 2, 11AM at Spring Grove Funeral Home (4389 Spring Grove Ave.) where guests will be received from 10AM until time of service. In loving memory of Robert Ervin Bender.It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Ervin Bender, beloved husband, father and grandfather. Robert peacefully passed on Saturday February 17th, 2024 at the age of 74, surrounded by his family.Robb was a Vietnam Veteran who served his country honorably and admirably. He earned the highest and most prestigious award that an infantry soldier can, the Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB). He was proud of his country and his service. He often said, “I wish I could have done more!”Robb was a true family man. He always put his children and wife first and loved them dearly. Robb and Kathy were inseparable. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He cherished his time with them, often outside either fishing, hiking or doing something adventurous. He was proud of everything they did.Robb had a long and successful 40 year career in lithography/printing industry. He was known for his constant pursuit of perfection, hard work and dedication.He enjoyed the simple things in life, including watching the Cincinnati Bearcats, which he did even from his hospital bed. He will be remembered for how loving and caring he was and the great joy be brought to those he came into contact with.Robb is survived by his loving family, his wife Kathy, son Nicholas (Rylan) Bender, daughter Tina (Josh) Schlimm, his four grandchildren Bear, Baylor, Oliver and Odin as well as his sisters Bev Schuler and Joleen (Mickey) Bengert.He was a warrior in wartime and in life.Visitation will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 11am until the time of the Funeral Service at 12pm at Holy Trinity St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 7000 Winton Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45224. Donna J. Knecht (nee Laubernds), 78, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born to the late William and Mary Laubernds on August 3, 1945. Donna was the beloved wife of the late Paul Knecht; devoted mother of Michael (Colleen) Knecht and John (Jillian) Knecht; and cherished grandmother of Madison (Polly West) Knecht, Sydney (Zach) Pickerell, Kaitlyn (Robby Buffett) Ballachino, and Kevin (Sydney Pepper) Ballachino. She also leaves behind her extended Knecht family of whom she was a treasured sister-in-law and aunt to many. In addition to her parents, and husband, Donna was greeted in Heaven by two cherished angel-babies who she and Paul lost shortly after their births.Donna was a caretaker and true matriarch of her family. She dedicated much of her time to nurturing and caring for her loved ones, ensuring their well-being and happiness. She enjoyed bringing family and friends together. Donna preserved family traditions like their annual “Spaghetti Bash” and continuous summer picnics. She was family oriented and found immense joy in seeing her loved ones gathered, sharing stories, and creating lasting memories. Royce Pettyjohn

Royce Pettyjohn of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away on February 19, 2024, at 95 years old. He is survived by his daughter, Charlene and his sons Gary (Camie) and Barry (Billie Sue) Pettyjohn; grandchildren Steve, Heidi, Cameron, Adam, Noah and Abigail Pettyjohn; and great-grandchildren Elliott Royce, Sarah, Parker, Murphy, Monroe, Trevor, Harper, Londyn and Ryleigh. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, son, Larry “Gene”, and infant sons: Royce Gene and Terry Joe, and his wife of 68 years, Wanda. Royce was born on November 13, 1928, in Phil, Kentucky, the fourth of eleven children to Roscoe and Bessie Pettyjohn. He was raised in Thomas Ridge, Kentucky and joined the army in 1948, serving in Germany and domestically. Royce met Wanda Katherine (nee Adams) in Evansville, Indiana and they married on December 24, 1951, and shortly after moved to Cincinnati. Royce worked as a union steward and dispatcher for Norwood Sash and Door and retired after 30 years truck driving as a member of the Teamster union. After retirement he ran a mowing and lawncare service. Royce loved to serve and help others. He was a dedicated member of the Christian Church, volunteering in many roles with the church youth and serving as a leader in his congregation, and he was a Troop Leader for the Boy Scout/Cubs of America. He loved country music, Harley Davidson motorcycles, NASCAR, and the Cincinnati Reds. He could build and fix anything, and he smiled the brightest when spending time with one of his kids or holding one of his grandchildren or great-grandchildren. His long life is celebrated by many who knew him as a strong and loving husband, father, Pa, son, brother, and friend. Funeral ceremonies were held privately for family. James Arthur “Jim” Matre, Esq., passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at the age of 76. He was born March 9, 1947 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late James H. and Ruth (Schuck) Matre. Devoted husband of over 30 years to his surviving wife, Kerrie (Cronin) Matre; father of Andrew (Elizabeth) Matre, Philip Matre, and Ryan (Angela) Cronin; grandfather of Maverick Matre and a baby boy soon on the way; brother of Lorraine (the late Wayne) Maynard, Janet (Tom) Ledonne, Martha (Jon) Stickney, Carol (Miles) Mayhall, and the late Kenneth Matre; dear uncle to his nieces and nephews, and a beloved friend and colleague to many throughout his lifetime. Jim graduated from Moeller High School and completed his undergraduate studies at University of Dayton. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded the esteemed Bronze Star as an appointed Intelligence Officer. Following his service, he continued his education at University of Cincinnati Law School. Jim found his niche in Real Estate Law and built his practice, Matre Law Group, serving clients around our tristate area. Jim was soft spoken and observant with a natural curiosity for learning. He enjoyed reading books related to history and crime novels. He was a wonderful boss with a strong will but was kind and took a genuine interest in others. Visitation will be from 3 pm until the time of service at 5 pm on Thursday, February 22nd at Mihovk-Rosenacker Funeral Home, 10211 Plainfield Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45241. A reception will follow in the Community Room at the funeral home until 8 pm.
