Carol Ann Wilberding, 80, of Waterloo, died May 6 at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital. She was born April 6, 1943 in Waterloo, daughter of Harold and Marie Smith Finn. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1961. She married James Wilberding and later divorced. Carol was a homemaker and a loving caregiver for all her family. She was a devoted "Old School" catholic who actively made scapulars and thousands of rosaries for missions around the world. Carol enjoyed both vegetable and flower gardening, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren. . . and teaching them to smuggle popcorn into the movie theatre. Survived by: her son, Rick (Becky) of Waterloo; three daughters, Michelle Bennett and Mary (Scott) Lagow both of Waterloo and Catherine (Bryan) Snook of Elk Run Heights; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Patrick (Kathie) of Mountain Home, Ark. , Stephen (Dawn) of Pelican Rapids, Minn. , and Michael of Waterloo; a sister, Mary (Dave) Modica of Las Vegas. Preceded in death by: her parents; her sister, Diane (Ted) Holm; and a granddaughter, Maggie Mae Wilberding. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 Thursday, May 11 at St. Philomena Mission Catholic Church, Bremer, Iowa, with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation will be 4 to 7 pm Wednesday, May 10 at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street where there will be a 4 p. m. rosary. Visitation will continue for one hour before services at the church. Memorials: directed to the church.
