David A. Unterberg, age 62 of Polk Township, Kunkletown, PA, born 12/22/1960, passed away surrounded by his immediate loving family on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at his home, in the presence of his wife, son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren. Subsequently, his daughters, their spouses, and grandchildren provided David with the honor, peace, and dignity of his transition from this Earth to the next as the gentlemen of the family were able to ensure David's transport was held with dignity and honor. This was one of the most loving and touching moments a son, son-in-law, or grandson could ever have been bestowed upon a patriarch. David was the loving husband of Heidi Faith (Weber) Unterberg. They celebrated their 26th Wedding Anniversary on July 18th, married on 7/18/1997, and together more years prior to their union, being together 28 years, leaving Heidi as Matriarch of this well united Unterberg Tribe. David was born in Chicago, IL, son of the late Lester Ivan Unterberg and Jean (Schellenberger) Unterberg of Allentown, PA. David served selflessly in the United States Army from 1982 to 1986, where he left service as an injured Veteran. David spent many years suffering through injury sustained while in service, ultimately obtaining status as 100% disabled Veteran. Through the years, David had worked tirelessly advocating for Disabled Veterans through initiating work through many organizations, then ultimately, the PGA Hero Program to raise monies to assist Veterans, their spouses, and families to overcome hardships due to handicaps obtained because of selfless service to our country. David had worked as a Federal Housing Inspector and Grant Writer with his father at Community Programs, Inc, a family owned business, in Allentown, PA for 25 years until retiring upon close of business upon his father's untimely death. David was able to serve tens of thousands low to moderate income families upgrade their homes to modern times through the Community Block Development Grant (CDBG) programs in hundreds of communities in Pennsylvania and surrounding states. Homes were able to have electricity upgraded, roofs fixed, asbestos siding abatement, lead paint abatement, concrete repair, heating unit upgrade and repair, plus much more to be listed. David then involved himself in so many activities through the community in Allentown that landed David the title one of the Pillars of the Community. David sat with the Lehigh Valley Planning Committee, worked with non-profits associated to low to moderate income families first time home-buyers' programs, and many other projects set forth by Lehigh County. David also was an avid golfer. He was the eldest Junior College golf Champion of Lehigh Carbon Community College. David was well known through the golfing community along with his father, Lester, in which the duo played consistently multiple times per week together. David was also a well-known United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Gold Level Coach. David worked tirelessly coaching our future professional bowlers of the world, helping 100's of our youth become successful at their approach to improve their game to become incredible competitors! David also was an avid outdoor lover. Our family loved mixing up life with camping, cook outs, boating, water skiing, snow mobiling, four wheeling, horse riding, snow skiing, trips to the beach, fishing, swimming, and hiking, as long as a chair for him was present (or a golf cart!)We have grown as a family by being blessed with so many FRAMILY members, and way too many to be listed here. All of us will deeply miss David (aka Alta Daveed). He will be deeply missed by his wife: Heidi Faith (Weber) Unterberg of Kunkletown, PA. His children: Tiffani Rose (Unterberg) Wright and husband Alvin of Allentown, PA; Stacey (Unterberg) Hill and husband Brandon of Breinigsville, PA; Hailie Rosenberger-Unterberg and fiancee De'Von Rice-Saunders of Allentown, PA; and Samuel Unterberg and wife Kyra of Kunkletown, PA.
