Carol A. Couture, 85, of Berlin, passed away on Thursday October 5, 2023 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital. She was born in Berlin on October 23, 1937 the daughter of the late Henry A. and Evelyn (Gendron) Couture and was a lifelong resident. She graduated from St. Patrick High School in 1955 and from the NH Technical College. Carol had been employed as a secretary for Brown Company/James River/Crown Vantage, retiring in 1998. She was a longtime member of the Business & Professional Women's Organization and had served as the Past State President. Carol had served on the St. Kieran Parish Council, the City Planning Board, the Mental Health Board and the City Charter Commission. She was a member of Good Shepherd Parish. She is survived by several cousins. Funeral Services will be will be held on Tuesday October 10, 2023 at 10 AM at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave. , Berlin. There will be no calling hours. Ronald D. Heater November 29, 2023 Ronald D. Heater, Honesdale, passed away early Wednesday morning at home surrounded by his family. His wife, Nancy Chapman Heater passed away in 1972. Upon Nancy's passing, Ron met and subsequently married Lula Christine "Chris" Hill and they enjoyed 49 years of marriage. Born 1936 at home in Lake Ariel, he was the son of the late Norbert "Butter" and Eleanore Samson Heater. He was a graduate of the former Lake Consolidated School in Lake Ariel. Ron was a devoted member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Honesdale. He was a United States Army veteran. Prior to his retirement he established Wayne Enterprises as a bill collector. Ron had a deep and abiding faith. He would share his faith through bible study in prisons and with people around the world. Also surviving are his daughters Kimlyn Bruner and her husband Robert, Jr. and Caroline Knee; stepdaughter Dawn; siblings Carol Boshinski and her husband Charles, Nancy Eastwood and her husband Rev. Jon and Larry Heater; grandchildren Jason, Royce, Danielle, Nancy, Chrisenta, Dennis, Jr. , Selina, Keith, Ryan, Kayla, Kirstin, Danny and Kassy; great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; countless friends. He was also preceded in death by his son Ronald N. heater and stepdaughter Vicky. A celebration of Ron's life will be held Saturday, December 9, at 11am in the James Wilson Funeral Home 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel with words of remembrance by family and friends. Thomas Stanley Anderson, age 75, of Beach Lake died Monday, November 27, 2023, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Susie Diane (Seaton) Anderson. Born July 4, 1948, in Kewanee, IL, Thomas was the son of Etta Mildred (Stanfield) Rury, who resided with him, and the late Albert Anderson. After his father passed away when Thomas 13, he was raised by his stepfather, the late Jay Rury. Thomas had a 20-year career in the US Air Force, ranging from the Vietnam to the Persian Gulf War. He was an aerospace propulsion technician specializing in jet engines, retiring with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Over his many years of service in the Air Force, he was awarded various medals and citations including the Achievement Award, Outstanding Unit Award, Organizational Excellence Award, Oversees Long Tour Ribbon, and Longevity Service Award Ribbon. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his daughter: Amber Strasser and her husband Cody of Lakeville; one brother: Greg Anderson and his wife Lin of Ocala, FL; a brother-in-law: Michael Oudens of Big Sky Mountain, MT; and his granddaughters: Mackenzie and Morgan. He loved spending time with all his grandchildren, including Zoe, Mia and Pax, all of whom he loved like grandchildren. Thomas was preceded in death by two daughters, Tanya Seese and Patricia Kinderdine; a sister, Linda Oudens; and a grandson, Timothy James Seese. Kathleen Connor, 85, of Pleasant Mount and Union Dale, died Tuesday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. Born October 7, 1938, in Pleasant Mount, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Rose Seney Connor. Kathy graduated from Pleasant Mount High School and attended Wayne Commercial School. She worked in Forest City sewing factories, later as a credit clerk at Fowler's Store in Binghamton, NY. After moving back to PA, she was employed at Bendix, Carbondale, and later retired from Trehab as a home healthcare aide. Kathy was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Church, Pleasant Mount. She taught catechism and was a member of St. James Altar and Rosary Society. She was an avid reader and crocheter. Kathy liked the outdoors, often gardening, and going for walks. She played the guitar and loved music. Surviving are sisters, Mary Reeder and husband James, Union Dale, Patricia Mader and husband Scott, NJ; a sister-in-law, Barbara Connor, Union Dale; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Connor, NJ; nephews, James Reeder, Chris (Bridget) Mader, and Jason (Val) Mader; and two great nieces, who she loved to visit with, Samantha and Zoey. She was preceded in death by brothers Robert "Bob" Connor and William "Joe" Connor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 11:00 am in St. James Church, 361 Great Bend Tpk. , Pleasant Mount. Wendy Serge, 78, of Honesdale, and formerly of Childs passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, October 20, 2023. Wendy was born August 27, 1945, in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Elizabeth Zeleski Mannion. She was a graduate of Mercedian School of Practical Nursing at St. Mary hospital. She was a nurse in the operating room at Mercy Hospital and later retired from Clarks Summit State Hospital. Wendy was a member of the Eynon American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed happy hour, getting into mischief, and watching game shows with her best friend Dottie. She is survived by a daughter Jennifer Serge and spouse Kellie Shannon, Honesdale; two sons James "Cuda" Serge and wife Amanda, Vandling; and Anthony Serge and companion Susan Freno, Mayfield; two sisters Cheryl Vadela and husband Joseph, Mayfield; and Michele Czyczk and husband Fred Maddage, NY; grandchildren Joshua Shannon and wife Caitlin, Derrick Shannon, Gia Serge, Maria Serge, and Matthew Serge; 3 great grandchildren, Bennett, Emma, and Adelina; nieces and nephews. Jean A. Deitterick, age 75, of Honesdale and formerly of Bendertown died peacefully at the Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale on Monday morning, October 2, 2023 after a long illness. Born in Bloomsburg on December 3, 1947, she was a daughter of the late George E. and Mary (Swerdon) Deitterick. She was a lifelong resident of Fishingcreek Township, moving to Honesdale three years ago. Jean was a 1965 graduate of Benton Area High School and following high school she graduated from Goldey-Beacom Business School in Wilmington, Delaware with a business degree. She was employed as a secretary by the former Boyd Kline Associates in Bloomsburg from 1971 to 1989 when the business closed. She then enrolled at Bloomsburg University earning both her B. S. and M. S. degrees in Business Administration She was then employed by the Millville Area School District as a Business Education teacher from 1991 until 2011 when she retired. She also was employed by Fishingcreek Township as a secretary for 25 years. Jean was a member of the former Bethany United Methodist Church in Berwick. Her hobbies were knitting and crocheting. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy M. Deitterick on October 2, 2019. Jean is survived by her sister, Mary L. Markowski of Honesdale, two nieces: Dr. Laura Matz and her husband Dr. Phillip Matz of Frankfurt, Germany and Katherine, wife of Zachary Bryant of Honesdale; and a great-niece, Whitney Matz and three great-nephews: Nichola Matz, Caleb Bryant, and Abraham Bryant. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. , Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg with Rev. Susan O. Rogutski officiating.
