Ronnie Dale Motley, 84, of Chatham, VA, passed away Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Bedford Memorial Hospital. Mr. Motley was born May 6, 1939 in Chatham, VA to the late Murry Motley and the late Lucie Shelton Motley. He was married to Pauline Holley Haskins, who survives, of the residence. He was a member of Sheva Church of Christ and a proud member of the NRA. He was a professional meat cutter for the grocery industry and was a truck driver for 15 years with Yeatts Transfer. In addition to his beloved wife, he is also survived by a stepdaughter, Karen Haskins Green of Hurt, VA, a sister, Effie Giles of TN, and a stepson, Adam Green of Hurt, VA. Mr. Motley was predeceased, in addition to his parents, by a newborn son, Daryle Scott Motley, a stepson-in-law, David Green, a sister, Vickie Motley Gwaltney, and a brother, Eugene Motley. Graveside services for Mr. Motley will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023 at 2:00 p. m. at Hillcrest Burial Park, Chatham, VA, officiated by Minister Ron Voss. Mr. Thomas LeRoy Knowles, age 80, of Chatham, Virginia, died on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Lynchburg General Hospital. Mr. Knowles was born on August 10, 1943 in Draper, North Carolina to the late Mary Frances Knowles and John Wesley Knowles. Mr. Knowles lived most of his life in Draper and Chatham where he retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber. Mr. Knowles is survived by his wife, Lori Knowles; sons, C. A. Knowles (Misty), Thomas Leroy Knowles II, Jeremiah Knowles; daughter, Teresa Davis (Reid); brother, Stewart; sisters, Essel, Lisa; grandchildren, Dawn Knowles, Joshua Davis (Cristen), Alanda Knowles, Nicholas Davis, Bethany Eanes, Little T Knowles, Hannah Davis, Mya Knowles, Jazmine Knowles, Gavin Burton; great-grandchildren, Cassidy, Amarion, Cayden, Ja'Ziya, Camille, Cassius, E'Owyn, Atticus, Kareem, and Charlotte. Robyn was born August 18, 1966, in Danville, VA to Robert William Campbell and the late Edna Shelton Campbell. She was of the Baptist faith. Ms. Hamlett worked at Providence Family & Sports Medicine of Danville as a Referral Coordinator. Robyn is survived by her father Robert William Campbell (Elaine Ruggeri) and fiancee, Chad Wallace. In addition, she is survived by her sons, Robert Spencer Hamlett (Nicole) of Hurt, VA and Eric Mason Hamlett of Danville, as well as a stepsister, Brenda Caldwell. stepbrother, Robert Michael Campbell, and grandchildren, Elias Hamlett and Kinsley Hamlett. She was born December 7, 1933 in Pittsylvania County to the late Charlie Earl Marshall and the late Jimmie Stowe Marshall. She was married to James Daniel Haskins. She was a member of Marion Baptist Church. She will always be remembered as a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great-grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. In addition to her husband of the residence, she is survived by two daughters, Donna Hubbard Shields and husband Billy, and Angie Hubbard Dalton; three sons, Paul Reynolds "Buddy" Hubbard, Jr. and wife Penny, David Keith Hubbard and wife Daphne, and Brian Earl Hubbard and wife Debbie; two stepdaughters, Tammy Wright, and Teresa Blackstock and husband Braxton; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-six great grandchildren, and four great great-grandchildren; and one sister, Nancy Craddock. She was married to James Benjamin Owen. She was a lifelong member of Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church. She worked as a probation officer for Halifax/Pittsylvania County Court Services. She loved animals, found great joy being at the beach, but most of all, she was a dedicated mama and one of her greatest joys was being on the ballfield watching and cheering for Abby. She will always be remembered as a fun loving, kindhearted, and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend to everyone who knew her. In addition to her husband and parents, she is also survived by her beloved daughter, Abby Owen; brother, Daniel Reynolds (Dawn); two nephews, Taylor Baird (Keely), and Mason Drew; two nieces, Brianna Duncan (Kevin Senters), and Ragen Elliott (Sean); and mother-in-law, Trudy Owen. Luther Ramsey Hammack of Chatham, Va. passed away Sunday, October 22, 2023 at Chatham Health and Rehabilitation Center in Chatham. Mr. Hammack was born in Pittsylvania County on July 16, 1937 to the late William Arvid Hammack and the late Nannie Toler Hammack. He was married to Nannie McDaniel Hammack. He owned Luther's Country Store in Chatham and was famous for his "Luther dog" hot dogs before his retirement. He was a self-taught musician and was known for his mandolin playing and enjoyed playing and singing bluegrass, country, and gospel. Most of all, he will always be remembered as a kindhearted and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend to everyone who knew him. In addition to his beloved wife, he is also survived by two daughters, Darlene H. Gibson (J. R. ) and Delores H. Richardson (Ronnie); eight stepchildren, Donnie, Jerry, Anthony, Audie, Ricky, Roger Meadows, Roxanne Davidson, and Tammy Crider; two grandchildren, Luke Pickeral and Stormy Richardson (Dillion Smith); three great grandchildren, Kendyl Pickeral, Logan Smith, and Levi Smith; and one sister, Arlene Falls. Mr. Walker was born July 5, 1947 in Lynchburg, Va. to the late Christine Kessler Walker and the late James Eldrin Walker. He was married to Joan Carter Walker. He was a member of Mill Creek Community Church. He retired from Williams Pipeline in Chatham as assistant manager. He will always be remembered as a kindhearted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all who knew him. In addition to his beloved wife of 53 years, he is survived by two sons, Bill Rowan (James) and Brent Walker (Nicole); five grandchildren, Veck Rowan, Luke Walker, Meagan Walker, Ethan Walker, and Emma Walker; two brothers, Ronald D.
